Kaelen Culpepper (shoulder) was held out of the Twins’ starting lineup on Sunday.

The 23-year-old shortstop was pulled from Saturday’s game after being hit in the right shoulder by a pitch. He’s still feeling a bit sore on Sunday so he’ll get an extra day to rest before returning to the lineup. Ryan Kreidler will start in his place and will bat ninth against Guardians’ right-hander Tanner Bibee on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis.
Diaz is a 'massive linchpin' in Rays' lineup
Eric Samulski and James Schiano break down why Yandy Diaz is a crucial piece to the Tampa Bay Rays' lineup in this World Series and how he is one of the most underrated hitters in the MLB.

Culpepper returns for Minnesota’s final two regular-season contests against the Rangers following a minimum stint on the injured list with a left hamstring strain. The 23-year-old top prospect has delivered for fantasy managers since arriving in the big leagues back in early August, hitting .275/.333/.404 with 15 runs scored, three homers, 11 RBI and one steal in 120 plate appearances. He’s one of the more dynamic power and speed combo threats to reach the majors recently and should be an intriguing late-round sleeper candidate in drafts next spring.

Culpepper has been on the IL since Sept. 16 with a mild hamstring strain. Ryan Kreidler has been the primary shortstop in his absence.

This will almost assuredly end Culpepper’s season since the MLB season ends just over 10 days from now. This is also his third trip to the injured list this season, if we include minor league stints; however, he doesn’t have a long track record of injuries. The 23-year-old hit .275/.333/.404 with three home runs, 15 runs scored, and 11 RBI in 31 MLB games. He should be the team’s starting shortstop next season.

Culpepper tweaked his hamstring while trying to beat out a double play in the sixth inning. He finished 0-for-3 at the plate. It sounds like a precautionary exit, but he’ll presumably undergo imaging to determine the severity of the issue. He was back in the lineup after missing two games earlier this week with a shoulder contusion. There should be an update on his status prior to Wednesday’s series finale.

Culpepper is back at shortstop and hitting second following a relatively brief two-game absence due to a right shoulder contusion after being hit by a pitch over the weekend. The 23-year-old top prospect has delivered a strong .283 (30-for-106) batting average with three homers, 11 RBI and one steal in 30 games since ascending to the majors last month.

Culpepper is out of the lineup for a second straight game after suffering a right shoulder contusion when he was hit by a pitch over the weekend. The positive news is that he was able to go through a full pregame workout without any issues and is available off the bench, if needed. The 23-year-old top prospect has hit a robust .283 (30-for-106) with three homers, 11 RBI and one steal in 30 games since ascending to the majors last month. It’ll be Ryan Kreidler getting the nod at shortstop on Monday night.

Franco Aleman got him in the upper back with a 95-mph fastball. Culpepper wanted to continue, but he couldn’t make it happen. Ryan Kreidler ran for him and remained in the game at shortstop.

As the Twins’ season has spiraled over the last month, they may have found something special with Culpepper. Getting the nod in the two-hole for the second time this week, he momentarily had a huge hit with a two-out, game-tying single off Hunter Gaddis in the seventh inning. The Twins bullpen promptly gave the game right back, but Culpepper has been impressive thus far as a big leaguer with a .286 batting average, .758 OPS, and three home runs in 29 games.

It’s the first time that Culpepper has batted higher than sixth in Minnesota’s lineup since being promoted to the majors back on August 7. The 24-year-old rookie has been outstanding in his first taste of the big leagues, hitting .301 (25-for-83) with three homers, nine RBI and one steal in 23 games. It would be nice from a fantasy perspective to see Culpepper running a bit more, but it’s hard to complain with his all-around impact so far.

Christian Yelich went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple and a run scored on Friday night, leading the Brewers to a 3-2 victory over the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series.

Yelich got the Brewers on the board first with a run-scoring triple off of Nick Martinez in the home half of the first inning. He then scored on an RBI single by William Contreras. That was his lone hit in the ballgame but played a major role in the Brewers’ taking a 1-0 lead in the Series. Expect the 34-year-old slugger to be back near the top of the lineup for Saturday night’s showdown against Rays’ right-hander Drew Rasmussen.

Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as the Brewers triumphed over the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday evening.

Chourio led off the home half of the first inning with a single off of Nick Martinez, then raced around to score the game’s first run on an RBI triple by Christian Yelich. The 22-year-old superstar also plated a run of his own with a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning that increased the Brewers’ advantage to 3-1 and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. The Brewers will look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead when they take on Rays’ right-hander Drew Rasmussen on Saturday evening in Milwaukee.

Trevor Megill walked the tightrope against the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night, escaping with a one-run advantage as the Brewers took a 1-0 Series lead.

It wasn’t the smoothest of innings for Megill by any means, as he allowed one-out singles to Jonathan Aranda and Chandler Simpson and walked Junior Caminero to load the bases. He then got Liam Hicks to ground into what looked to be a game-ending double play, but Caminero was ruled safe at second base upon umpire review. Not to fear though, as he battled back to retire Jonny DeLuca on strikes to end the ballgame. Megill needed 20 pitches to get the job done though, which could impact his availability in Game 2 on Saturday.

Jacob Misiorowski stymied the Rays’ offense in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night, allowing just one run on four hits over five strong frames.

The flame-throwing right-hander struck out three batters in his World Series debut while issuing one free pass. He came out of the gate throwing smoke, hitting 103.5 mph on his very first pitch — the fastest pitch ever tracked in the World Series. He got seven swings and misses on 78 pitches in the game — five of those on his fastball which averaged 101.1 mph — while registering a CSW of 28 percent. His next assignment is likely to come on regular rest in Game 5 on Wednesday.

Jonathan Aranda went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored a run in a losing effort against the Brewers in Game 1 of the World Series.

Aranda singled off of Jacob Misiorowski in the opening inning, but the Rays were unable to cash him in. He then worked a leadoff walk in the fourth inning and scored on an RBI ground out off the bat of Liam Hicks. He also singled in the sixth inning but was cut down attempting to steal second base. While he did his part on Friday night, the Rays are going to need to find a way to get much more offense in Game 2 on Saturday or they could be facing a 2-0 deficit in the Series.

Nick Martinez pitched well in a losing effort against the Brewers in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday evening, surrendering two runs on five hits across five innings of work.

The 36-year-old hurler racked up five strikeouts on the night and didn’t walk a batter. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as Christian Yelich smacked an RBI triple and scored on an RBI single off the bat of William Contreras. After that, Martinez settled in nicely and kept the Brewers off the board for the next four innings. He got 10 swings and misses on 73 pitches on the night — four on his changeup — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll be ready to take the ball again in Game 4 of 5 depending on how the series progresses.

The 29-year-old right-hander made just two appearances with the Guardians this season, posting a 6.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio over three frames. He’ll get an early start on exploring the free agent market.

Brice Turang was moved down to the fifth spot in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Game 1 of the World Series against the Rays on Friday evening in Milwaukee.

Turang has been a fixture in the second spot in the Brewers’ lineup in the postseason, but he’ll slide down to the fifth spot in the order with Rays’ right-hander Nick Martinez on the hill on Friday. Jake Bauers moves up to the second spot in the order while Christian Yelich will hit third. Here’s the full lineup that the Brewers will roll out in front of their home faithful and the entire baseball world on Friday night: Jackson Chourio (LF),
Jake Bauers (1B), Christian Yelich (DH), William Contreras (C), Brice Turang (2B), Garrett Mitchell (CF), Cooper Pratt (SS), Sal Frelick (RF) and David Hamilton (3B).

Ben Williamson will start at second base and bat eighth for the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series against the Brewers on Friday evening.

Williamson has been functioning in a short-side platoon role with nearly all of his starts coming against left-handers, so it’s interesting to see him in there against Brewers’ ace Jacob Misiorowski for Game 1. Here’s the full lineup that manager Kevin Cash will deploy as the Rays look to secure the first World Series title in their franchise’s history: Yandy Díaz (DH), Jonathan Aranda (1B), Chandler Simpson (LF), Junior Caminero (3B), Liam Hicks (C), Jonny DeLuca (CF), Victor Mesa Jr. (RF), Ben Williamson (2B) and Taylor Walls (SS).

The Cardinals have decided not to bring back hitting coach Brant Brown next season.

Seems like the Cardinals are really dropping the ball here. Brown was hired following a 2024 season in which the Cardinals ranked 22nd in MLB in scoring. They climbed to 19th in 2025 and 17th this year despite shedding personnel, as Jordan Walker busted out and Alec Burleson and Iván Herrera continued their steadier climbs. On the other hand, guys like Nolan Gorman, Masyn Winn and Victor Scott II have regressed. Aside from Brown, the rest of the Cardinals’ coaching staff is expected to remain intact, though that could change if bench coach Daniel Descalso gets interviews for managerial openings.
