Anderson gave up five hits, walked none and struck out five. He fell to 5-7 with the loss. Having likely made his last appearance of the season, Anderson will finish with a 3.67 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 114 strikeouts in 108 innings. Not bad for his return to the majors after playing two seasons each in Japan and Korea. Assuming Anderson has his $10 million 2027 team option picked up, he should compete for a backend spot in the Tigers’ rotation next year.

Williamson, who had been piggybacking off Chase Burns, excelled tonight in his second major league start since April. throwing just 68 pitches to get 18 outs. He seemed iffy a month ago to stick on Cincinnati’s 40-man this winter, but with his velocity climbing some as he completes his first year back from Tommy John, he’s probably locked up a spot now.

In a rare miss for Tampa Bay, the Rays could have had Burke from the Angels for Josh Lowe last winter but instead decided to do a three-team deal that netted them Gavin Lux from Cincinnati. Lux has been absent all year, while Burke has posted a 2.33 ERA in 73 1/3 innings. He’s surely looking at a nice multiyear deal in free agency this winter.

The run came on an Elly De La Cruz homer. Ritchie fell to 1-4 with a 4.79 ERA. He’s probably not in the Braves’ plans for next week’s Wild Card series, so he could make a traditional start against the Marlins on Sunday.

De La Cruz is thisclose to putting together a 30-30 season despite missing 19 games, most of them due to a hamstring injury sustained at the end of May. If he gets there, he’d become just the fourth Reds player ever. Eric Davis (1987), Barry Larkin (1996) and Brandon Phillips (2007) did it once apiece.

Harris has had quite the successful season, but even so, it still like there might be something more in the tank. He had the three hardest-hit balls of tonight’s game, coming in at 111, 110 and 108 mph. He’s currently batting .291/.319/.488 despite a first-percentile chase rate. Just the tiniest bit of plate discipline could turn him into a real star.

Kent heads back to the minors after a strong effort in relief against the Tigers where he allowed one run over four innings on Tuesday. The 23-year-old holds a pedestrian 5.94 ERA across 36 1/3 innings of work at the highest level this season.

Rafaela returns to Boston’s lineup after missing just over two weeks with a right quad strain. He’ll get a few games under his belt to knock off any rust before the Red Sox kick off their postseason run next week.

The HBP proved key, as DeLauter went on to score the go-ahead run on Nathaniel Lowe’s sac fly in the ninth. DeLauter upped his average to .292 tonight, placing him third in the AL.
