Juan Lara underwent surgery Sunday to have his spine stabilized and a fractured arm repaired.
Lara had the operations two days after being moved from the Dominican Republic to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. The Indians said after he’s released from the Clinic he will return to the Dominican Republic for treatment. It’s unclear when that might happen.

Matt McLain went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in a 9-7 win for the Reds on Sunday against the Brewers.
McLain took Coleman Crow deep in the first inning. He also singled and scored a second run. McLain was awful in 2025 with a .643 OPS, but fantasy managers shouldn’t forget how good he looked in his rookie campaign in 2023, and there’s a chance for some power/speed production this summer.
Target Abreu late for fantasy RP amid Hader injury
Eric Samulski and James Schiano look at the 'landmine-y' world of fantasy relief pitchers and explain why Josh Hader's injury gives Bryan Abreu a massive boost in value.
  • SF Catcher #13
Eric Haase went 2-for-3 and hit a grand slam Saturday in the Giants’ 8-2 defeat of the Athletics.
The veteran Haase is competing with Rule 5 pick Daniel Susac and fellow prospect Jesus Rodriguez for the backup catching gig in San Francisco. As such, the A’s probably didn’t mind giving up his grand slam today; if Haase beats out Susac, it becomes a lot more likely that the A’s will be able to reclaim their former first-round pick.
  • SF Pitcher #54
Tyler Mahle pitched one scoreless inning with two strikeouts in his spring debut Saturday.
Mahle was slowed by an illness last week, so he’s a bit behind the rest of the Giants’ starters right now. Fortunately, he has plenty of time with which to catch up. His 92.7-mph average on his fastball today was up 0.7 mph from last year, though well shy of the 94.0 mph he averaged in his best season with the Reds in 2021.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #58
Luis Morales was charged with four runs in 1 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Giants.
Even though he was very effective in his 2025 audition, Morales isn’t assured a spot in the Athletics’ rotation, and he definitely hasn’t helped himself by posting a 12.27 ERA through two outings. J.T. Ginn and Mason Barnett are probably next in line if Morales fails to win a rotation spot.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #36
Hogan Harris struck out two in a scoreless fifth inning Saturday against the Giants.
Harris looks like he wants to be very much a part of the closing mix in Sacramento. His fastball today topped out at 96.9 mph and averaged 95.8 mph, which is up 2.3 mph from last year. That he’s a lefty works against him becoming the Athletics’ sole closer, but he should be in line for some saves.
  • CWS Infield #20
Miguel Vargas went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI against the Guardians on Saturday.
Vargas has hit well in the early portion of Cactus League action with a .429/.467/.571 slash. He’s coming off a so-so 2025 campaign with a .235/.317/.402 slash with 16 homers, making Vargas a tough sell as more than a bench option on fantasy rosters in deeper leagues.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman
Sam Antonacci hit a solo homer in a 7-5 win for the White Sox over the Guardians on Saturday.
Antonacci took Tanner Bibee deep in the first inning. The 23-year-old was outstanding in the Arizona Fall League as well, and his plate skills give him a chance of making a debut with the White Sox in 2026. It’s hard to see fantasy-relevancy in 2026, however.
  • AZ Relief Pitcher #55
Brandyn Garcia left Saturday’s game against the Angels due to illness.
Garcia came out with a trainer, and the good news is that it’s not arm related. The 25-year-old is battling for one of the final spots in the D-backs’ bullpen, and assuming no setbacks he should be back on the bump in a few days at latest.
  • SEA Outfield #20
Luke Raley hit a solo blast in a Cactus League loss Saturday to the Padres.
Raley was responsible for Seattle’s only run with a solo dinger off JP Sears. The 31-year-old has been one of the streakier players in baseball of the past few seasons, and that inconsistency along with his inability to hit lefties — although the homer was off one Saturday — makes him someone fantasy managers can’t consider in the majority of leagues.
  • SD Outfield #3
Jackson Merrill went 2-for-2 with a homer in a 7-1 win for the Padres on Sunday over the Mariners.
Merrill hit a two-run blast off Houston Roth. The 22-year-old has swung the bat well in the early portions of Cactus League play with a .375/.500/.875 slash. It’s fair to say that Merrill was a bit of a fantasy disappointment in 2025, but the skill set is still readily apparent, and he should be a solid option in 2026.
