Josh Butler felt soreness in his right triceps during a bullpen session Friday.
Butler rocketed through the Brewers’ system last year and was certainly in the mix to make the team this year. While his injury doesn’t appear to be serious, it will likely require rest, which will put him behind the rest of the staff.

Jackson Chourio (hand) will be reevaluated this weekend to determine whether he’s ready for a minor league rehab assignment.
Chourio progressed to on-field batting practice Wednesday for the first time since hitting the shelf with a fractured hand on Opening Day last month. The 22-year-old franchise cornerstone figures to be ready to get into minor league action early next week and should be ready for his season debut at some point in late April or early May.
Giolito profiles as fantasy SP streamer with SD
Eric Samulski examines the ripple effects from Lucas Giolito signing with the Padres, sharing why the veteran starting pitcher shapes up as a fantasy streaming option.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #18
Nolan Schanuel delivered a solo homer and a three-run double as the Angels bested the Blue Jays 7-3 on Wednesday.
Schanuel, who is getting over an ankle problem that was bothering him earlier this month, is hitting a middling .239/.308/.380, but he’s up to 18 RBI in 23 games on the season. He’s already one-third of the way to his totals of 54 RBI in 147 games in 2024 and 53 in 132 games last year. There should be some mixed-league value here now that he’s back playing every day.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #59
José Soriano scattered seven hits over five scoreless innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Soriano exited with a 3-0 lead after 84 pitches, but it disappeared in the top of the seventh before the Angels came right back with four in the bottom of the inning. So, no win for Soriano. He did bring his ERA down from 0.28 to 0.24. He settled for four strikeouts, but he generated 16 whiffs. He walked none and gave up just four hard-hit balls. He’ll face the White Sox next week.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #68
Jordan Romano protected a four-run lead with a scoreless ninth Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Romano gave up two well-struck singles, but he also struck out two before getting Ernie Clement to ground out to end the game. Romano hasn’t had a save chance since blowing two games against the Yankees last week, but he has bounced back with two scoreless innings, striking out five of the eight batters he’s faced.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #56
Eric Lauer yielded three runs in five innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Angels.
Lauer, apparently being held together by some blue tape on the back of his neck, had very little on his fastball at the beginning of today’s outing, averaging just 88 mph in his first two innings. He did get back up close to 90 mph afterwards, though he also gave up all three runs during his final three innings of work. The last was on a homer to Mike Trout, who he probably shouldn’t have been allowed to face a third time. With Trey Yesavage on the way back, Lauer, who has a 6.75 ERA in 22 2/3 innings, could head to the pen next week.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout hit his eighth homer, walked twice and stole a base Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Trout is 4-for-4 stealing bases this year. That’s more steals than he had in five of the last six seasons. He went 6-for-7 in just 29 games in ill-fated 2024 campaign.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman #22
Ernie Clement singled three times and knocked in a run Wednesday against the Angels.
Clement got his three hits without the benefit of a hard-hit ball. He’s second in the majors with 32 hits this season, and he was tied for 99th with 28 hard-hit balls coming into the day, with a couple of more guys probably passing him this afternoon.
  • SF Center Fielder #51
Jung Hoo Lee (quad) is in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers.
Lee is back in right field and batting sixth after getting banged up on a slide into home plate during Tuesday’s game at Oracle Park. It doesn’t appear to be a serious concern moving forward.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #70
MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo reports the Red Sox are likely to promote Payton Tolle to start Thursday’s series finale against the Yankees.
There are a ton of variable swirling around Boston’s rotation, especially since manager Alex Cora declined to name a starter while speaking to reporters. However, all signs point to Tolle getting the call to start Thursday’s series finale at Fenway Park with Brayan Bello and Garrett Crochet taking the ball against the Orioles. It’s a challenging matchup for the 23-year-old southpaw, especially since he hasn’t started at Triple-A Worcester since April 12, which is more than a week ago. He offers enough strikeout upside to warrant a roster spot in all fantasy formats, but expectations should be kept in check for his season debut.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #30
Rangers sent RHP Marc Church outright to Triple-A Round Rock.
It’s a notable development for the Rangers that Church passed through waivers unclaimed and will remain with the club as relief depth after being jettisoned from their 40-man roster earlier this week. The 25-year-old made five relief appearances last year and will continue pitching at Triple-A Round Rock.
