Padres optioned C Kyle Phillips to Triple-A Tucson.
He was cleared to make room for the return of Cameron Maybin. Phillips batted .239 with two homers and eight RBI over 46 at-bats in a little over a month with the big club.

Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Sunday that Ronny Mauricio is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with his fractured left thumb.
It’s an unfortunate break for the Mets who are already without Francisco Lindor (calf). By the time Mauricio is ready to return, Lindor should already be back and his shot at an everyday role will be gone. Bo Bichette is starting at shortstop on Sunday and is expected to see the bulk of the action there until Lindor is able to return.
Rutschman putting up 'star caliber' statistics
James Schiano breaks down Adley Rutschman's performance in his six games since returning for the Orioles from the IL, in which he has put up an impressive performance with four home runs and 14 RBIs.
  • TOR Right Fielder #47
Addison Barger (ankle) went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and a walk in his first minor league rehab game at Single-A Dunedin on Sunday.
The expectation has been that Barger would need to play in two or three games on his rehab assignment before being reevaluated to see if he’s ready to return. It sounds like fantasy managers may get him back for the second half of next week barring any setbacks.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #54
Nationals claimed RHP Zak Kent off of waivers from the Twins; optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
Kent had been designated for assignment earlier in the week to clear a roster spot for Luis García. He’ll add bullpen depth at Triple-A Rochester for the Nationals.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson told reporters on Sunday that Cal Raleigh is dealing with soreness in his side and that a trip to the injured list is being discussed.
The Mariners are taking every possible precaution here with their prized backstop. Raleigh was held out of the team’s lineup on Saturday and Sunday due to what had been termed general soreness, but it sounds like it’s a dreaded oblique issue instead. They won’t want to play short-handed for very long, so expect the team to make a determination on his status within the next day or two. Fantasy managers should be sure to have an alternative option available for next week in the event that Raleigh lands on the IL.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #16
Angels placed LHP Yusei Kikuchi on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 30, with left shoulder inflammation.
The Angels are still reviewing the results of Kikuchi’s recent MRI exam, so there’s no word yet or how long the 34-year-old left-hander is expected to be sidelined for. The fact that he has already been placed on the injured list doesn’t bode well though. Tayler Saucedo was promoted from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move on Sunday.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #60
Angels selected the contract of LHP Tayler Saucedo from Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 32-year-old southpaw will add a fresh arm to the Halos’ bullpen for at least a few days while the team decides how they want to handle the vacancy in their starting rotation due to the injury to Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder). Saucedo had posted a 4.30 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and a 15/11 K/BB ratio over 14 2/3 innings in his 12 appearances at the Triple-A level. He’ll work in middle relief for the Angels.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Braves’ outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was diagnosed with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.
All things considered, that’s the best possible news that the Braves and fantasy managers could hear right now. He was going to miss more than a few days with the injury, which is why the Braves opted to place him on the injured list on Sunday, but it doesn’t sound like he should be looking at an extended absence.
  • NYM 1st Baseman #39
Mets designated 1B/OF Eric Wagaman for assignment.
Wagaman had just been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday and now he loses his spot on the club’s 40-man roster as well as the Mets had to make room for Vidal Bruján on Sunday. It’s possible that the 28-year-old slugger could attract some interest on waivers.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #2
Mets selected the contract of INF/OF Vidal Bruján from Triple-A Syracuse.
With Ronny Mauricio heading to the injured list with a fractured thumb and Francisco Lindor (calf) already stationed on the injured list, the Mets’ depth at the shortstop position is running woefully thin. It’s unclear if Bruján will see the bulk of the action there or if Bo Bichette will slide over from third base in the interim while Brett Baty covers the hot corner.
  • NYM Shortstop #0
Mets placed INF Ronny Mauricio on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb fracture.
Mauricio sustained the injury while diving headfirst into first base during Saturday’s game against the Angels. No word yet on how long the Mets expect him to be sidelined for. Vidal Brujan was promoted from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday to take his place on the team’s active roster.
