Dodgers signed RHP Markus Solbach to a minor league contract.
Solbach, 27, was signed out of Germany in 2010 by the Twins, and he has pitched in both the Minnesota and Arizona organizations. The Dodgers are giving him another shot after he put up ridiculous numbers in the Australian Baseball League this winter with an ERA of 0.43 and 55/7 K/BB ratio in 43 innings for the Adelaide Bite. The level of competition there isn’t close to the MLB’s, but he’s an interesting name to keep an eye on this spring.

Pete Fairbanks worked an inning and allowed three runs while picking up both a loss and a blown save versus Atlanta on Tuesday.
Is there larger issue with Crochet's performance?
Eric Samulski discusses Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet's disastrous outing against the Twins and whether fantasy managers should be worried about his performance moving forward.
  • CHC 2nd Baseman #2
Nico Hoerner went 2-for-6 with three RBI on Tuesday, propelling the Cubs to a 10-4 win over the Phillies.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #23
Max Meyer worked five innings and allowed three runs while not picking up a decision versus Atlanta on Tuesday.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #40
Reynaldo López allowed four runs in five innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Tuesday.
  • PHI 2nd Baseman #33
Edmundo Sosa drilled a three-run homer on Tuesday in a loss to the Cubs.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #53
Colin Rea allowed three runs over six innings in a bulk relief appearance on Tuesday against the Cubs to pick up a win.
Rea took over after rookie lefty Riley Martin worked a scoreless opening frame and finished with five strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. He served up a three-run homer to Edmundo Sosa in the second inning, but managed to keep the Phillies off the scoreboard over his final five innings of work. The 35-year-old veteran swingman holds a 3.63 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 15/3 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings of work. He’ll factor into Chicago’s pitching plan against the Mets on Sunday.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #27
Aaron Nola surrendered three runs over five innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.
  • BOS 1st Baseman #40
Willson Contreras was removed from Tuesday’s showdown against the Twins with lower back tightness.
Contreras left the contest in the fifth inning with the Red Sox trailing by five runs at the time. He finished 0-for-1 at the plate. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but there should be an update on his status after the contest. The 33-year-old first baseman has gotten off to a strong start in his Boston debut, hitting .298 (17-for-57) with three homers and 11 RBI in 17 games.
  • DET Catcher #13
Dillon Dingler went 2-for-4 and had a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth as the Tigers topped the Royals 2-1 on Tuesday.
The Tigers got both of their runs in the eighth, with the first coming after Zach McKinstry doubled and went on to score on a wild pitch. Dingler knocked in Kevin McGonigle after a walk. Dingler, who has been hitting fourth or fifth of late, is at .271/.364/.500 with 12 RBI in 57 plate appearances. He seems like a top-10 fantasy catcher right now.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #59
Framber Valdez limited the Royals to one run and three hits over seven innings in a no-decision Tuesday.
This was quite the throwback game, as both Valdez and Cole Ragans, who went six scoreless, had successful outings while striking out just one batter apiece. The Tigers ended up winning 2-1, but since they didn’t score until the bottom of the eighth, the victory went to Will Vest. Vest actually struck out the side in his inning, giving him as many strikeouts as the game’s other five pitchers combined. Valdez should make his next start Sunday versus the Red Sox.
