Blue Jays optioned RHP Elvis Luciano, INF/OF Otto Lopez, C Gabriel Moreno, and RHP Ty Tice to Triple-A Buffalo.
The Blue Jays reassigned another 21 players to the minor league side of camp, including pitching prospects Alek Manoah and Simeon Woods Richardson and infield prospect Austin Martin.

Nick Gonzales went 1-for-4 with a run scored against the Twins on Friday in his return to the lineup.
Gonzales was back at third base after leaving Thursday’s series finale against the Cubs early with left knee discomfort. It doesn’t appear to be a concern moving forward.

James Schiano discusses what the long-awaited return of right-handed pitcher Jared Jones means for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Freddy Peralta struggled in a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday evening, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits across 4 2/3 innings.
Peralta punched out five batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. The Marlins scratched out single runs against him in the third and fourth innings, then added another pair while chasing Peralta in the fifth. The 29-year-old hurler got 12 whiffs on 94 pitches on the night — eight on his changeup — while posting a CSW of 24 percent. He now sports a 3.55 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 68/28 K/BB ratio over 66 innings through his first 12 starts with the Mets. He’ll do battle against the Mariners his next time out in Seattle on Wednesday.
  • PIT Center Fielder #15
Oneil Cruz launched a 450-foot solo home run and collected two RBI on Friday, leading the Pirates to a 6-5 comeback win over the Twins.
Cruz got a cutter over the heart of the plate and didn’t miss, sending a majestic blast into the Allegheny River over the right-field fence at PNC Park. It’s just the seventh round-tripper to reach the iconic river in the ballpark’s 25-year history, according to MLB.com’s Aiden Stepansky. The incredible feats of strength are nothing new for Cruz, but he’s made strides against left-handed pitching and boasts the highest hard-hit rate of his career so far. He’s up to 12 homers and 17 stelas in 252 plate appearances through 56 games. That’ll work.
  • MIN Left Fielder #9
Trevor Larnach went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Friday in a loss to the Pirates.
Larnach put Minnesota ahead with a 424-foot no-doubter to right field off Pirates starter Jared Jones in the third inning. It was his third long ball of the season and first time leaving the yard since May 16. He’s been unusually hot of late, hitting .346 (9-for-26) over his last seven games.
  • PIT Shortstop #85
Konnor Griffin went 2-for-4 with an RBI and stole two bases on Friday in a win over the Twins.
Griffin still managed to make a significant impact, despite being limited to DH duty due to right forearm soreness, as he recorded the first multi-steal performance of his career. The 20-year-old prodigy delivered a run-scoring single to cap off a three-run opening frame for the Pirates as part of a multi-hit effort. He certainly hasn’t looked like a rookie in recent weeks, hitting .301 (28-for-93) with two homers, nine RBI and seven steals since May 1.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #55
Taylor Rogers gave up a pair of runs in the ninth inning and was charged with a blown save against the Pirates on Friday.
Rogers was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the final frame and wound up serving up a walk-off homer to Bryan Reynolds a couple batters after Spencer Horwitz delivered a leadoff single. It was his first blown save of the season. It’s been a bizarre year for Minnesota’s bullpen as 11 different relievers have recorded at least one save and none of them have more than two on the year. It’s a stay-away situation for fantasy managers.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #17
Jared Jones surrendered five runs over 4 1/3 innings the Twins in his season debut on Friday.
Let’s start with the bad news. Jones served up a solo homer to Kody Clemens and a two-run blast to Trevor Larnach a couple frames later, with both long balls coming against his fastball. Not great. There were some positive takeaways for the dynamic 24-year-old as he averaged 99 mph on his fastball and topped out at 101.5 mph in his first major-league start since September 27, 2024. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out two free passes. Jones remains a work in progress after missing last season recovering from Tommy John surgery, but his talent and strikeout upside are undeniable, which makes him worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy leagues. He’ll make his next start against the Astros at Daikin Park on Thursday.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #29
Pete Fairbanks suffered his third defeat of the season on Friday night as he surrendered two runs (one earned) on one hit in 1/3 of an inning against the Mets.
Fairbanks came on to work in a 7-7 game in the 10th inning after the Marlins came up empty in the top half of the frame. He got Juan Soto to fly out to center to start the inning, keeping Vidal Brujan at second base, but MJ Melendez followed with a walk-off two-run blast that ended it. Fairbanks now holds an unsightly 7.53 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 14 1/3 innings on the season while converting six of his first eight save chances.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #26
Taj Bradley was charged with four runs over four innings on Friday in a no-decision against the Pirates.
Bradley turned in his shortest outing of the season in this one, surrendering five hits, including a gargantuan 450-foot homer to Oneil Cruz in the third inning. He piled up six strikeouts and only walked two batters. The lackluster effort snapped a streak of three consecutive quality starts since April 29. He’s been one of this season’s more impressive breakthrough arms with a solid 3.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 65/21 K/BB ratio across 56 innings of work. He’ll take the ball at home against the division-rival Royals on Thursday.
  • MIA Right Fielder #17
Owen Caissie swatted a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth inning on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Marlins past the Mets.
Caissie ambushed a first-pitch splitter from Tobias Myers for a 397-foot (103.4 mph EV) two-run blast that tied the score at 7-7 in the eighth inning. That would wind up being the extent of the Marlins’ offense in the game though. The 23-year-old outfielder finished the night 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and is now hitting .232/.286/.399 with five long balls and 28 RBI on the season.
