Mets designated RHP Sam McWilliams for assignment.

The Mets gave McWilliams a big league contract over the winter even though he’s never appeared in the majors. However, he was off to a slow start with Syracuse and the club has decided his spot on the 40-man roster is better used elsewhere. It’s possible McWilliams will draw some interest on waivers.

Corey Seager (back) has resumed baseball activities.

There is no set timetable for Seager to return after landing on the injured list with lower back inflammation on July 1. He’s at the point where he’s resumed baseball activities and is ramping up his running progression, which is a step in the right direction. There should be a clearer idea of his return timeline once he’s a bit closer to game action.

Colt Emerson is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Reds.

Emerson has hit .195 (30-for-154) with seven homers, 20 RBI and three steals in 48 games since being called up back in mid-May. The most alarming recent trend for him at the dish is that he has zero extra-base hits since homering back on June 26. The 21-year-old prodigy has an extremely bright future ahead of him, but he’s simply not ready to be an impactful fantasy contributor as he acclimates to everyday life in the big leagues. It’ll be veteran J.P. Crawford at shortstop on Monday night.

Corbin Carroll (elbow) is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Athletics.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters he wasn’t overly concerned about the severity of the injury after Carroll hyperextended his right elbow on a swing during Sunday’s comeback win over the Cardinals. The 25-year-old fantasy superstar will receive some extra time off to rest and recover with Jorge Barrosa taking over in right field. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Marlins recalled RHP Zach Brzykcy from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Brzykcy bolsters Miami’s relief depth with starter Max Meyer hitting the shelf with a neck injury. The 27-year-old has made one appearance in the big leagues this season. He’s a non-factor for fantasy purposes.

Marlins placed RHP Max Meyer on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 19, with a neck strain.

It’s unclear how much time Meyer will miss after throwing just 74 pitches across three innings on Saturday against the Brewers. The 27-year-old emerging Marlins ace was outstanding during the first half, earning his first All-Star Game selection in the process. However, he’s already up to 111 innings, which is right around his previous career-high mark set back in 2024. It’s a tough break for Miami, and fantasy managers, but Meyer could probably use an extended break at this point in the year. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Juan Burgos from Triple-A Reno.

Burgos provides Arizona’s bullpen with a fresh arm heading into a three-game series against the Athletics. The 26-year-old made one relief appearance for the Diamondbacks last month.

Diamondbacks optioned LHP Philip Abner to Triple-A Reno.

Abner retreats to the minors after tossing a pair of scoreless innings against the Cardinals on Sunday. The 24-year-old rookie has allowed seven runs across 9 1/3 innings for the Diamondbacks this season.

Padres recalled C Rodolfo Duran from Triple-A El Paso.

Duran provides San Diego with a decent replacement for Miguel Andujar after he suffered a fractured wrist. The 28-year-old backstop has hit .146 (12-for-82) with three homers and eight RBI in 36 games at the highest level this season.

Padres placed DH Miguel Andujar on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist fracture.

There’s a decent possibility Andujar is done for the rest of the season with just over two months left. The 31-year-old has hit .259 (62-for-239) with five homers and two steals in 74 games this season. He suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch over the weekend. There is no timetable for his return.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Edwin Díaz (elbow) could potentially be activated later this week against the Mets.

It sounds like the plan is for Díaz to continue his rehab assignment this week, most likely with back-to-back outings, before returning to the back-end of Los
Angeles’ bullpen later this week. The 32-year-old closer is coming off surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow back in early April.
