Ross Detwiler got his second career save by pitching a scoreless 10th inning Sunday against the Brewers.
Detwiler’s only previous save came with the Nationals in 2014, his first year as a reliever. He has a 3.50 ERA in18 innings for the Reds.

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will be activated from the injured list next week, reports MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.
McCalvy adds that nothing is set in stone, but Woodruff is theoretically lined up to take the ball against the Guardians at some point next week. The 33-year-old former fantasy ace threw 68 pitches during his latest minor league rehab outing earlier this week. He’s been out with shoulder inflammation since early May.
Inside May's resurgence for Cardinals this season
Eric Samulski dives into Dustin May's turnaround for the St. Louis Cardinals with changes in his pitch mix to make his arsenal more effective and become more valuable in fantasy lineups.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a walk-off homer in Wednesday’s 5-4 win over the Reds.
The long ball was only his second of the year, but his bat has come alive lately. Tatis entered the day having hit .397/.433/.508 over his past 67 plate appearances, though it came with a .453 BABIP. Fantasy managers will still take it. He’s pulling the ball in the air less than ever this season, with a strangely low launch angle. Adding second base eligibility has helped soften the blow, but it’s wasted if he doesn’t begin to hit like he historically has.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #34
Michael King pitched a quality start on Wednesday against the Reds, allowing three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings.
King struck out three and walked three. He allowed two homers on the afternoon, including a solo shot to JJ Bleday with two outs in the bottom of the seventh that broke a 2-2 tie. The right-hander has a lower K-BB% than we’ve grown accustomed to, but his ERA and WHIP are right in line with last season. He’ll remain a strong fantasy option next time out in St. Louis.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #51
Brady Singer logged a quality start on Wednesday in San Diego, allowing two earned runs on six hits over six innings pitched.
Singer struck out five and walked one, lowering his ERA to 5.61. He took advantage of the strong matchup against a low-scoring offense in a great park. The veteran righty will be difficult to trust back at home against the Mets, however.
  • CIN Left Fielder #22
JJ Bleday went 1-for-3 with a homer, two walks, and two runs scored as the Reds fell to the Padres 5-4 on Wednesday.
The homer was his 11th of the year, a solo blast that came with two outs in the seventh inning and the game tied at 2. Cincinnati’s bullpen later blew the lead, setting up a Fernando Tatis Jr. walk-off homer. Bleday has looked like a transformed hitter this season, joining the Reds with significantly increased bat speed. They’re set to head back to hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark for a six-game homestand that begins Friday.
  • CIN Left Fielder #7
Spencer Steer went 1-for-5 with a homer and two RBI as the Reds fell to the Padres 5-4 on Wednesday.
Steer’s home run was a two-run shot off Michael King in the fourth inning, his 10th of the season. He has a decent chance at eclipsing his career high of 23, set back in 2023. The steady accumulator has hit between 20 and 23 homers in each of the past three seasons, and now he has the best barrel rate of his career. The Reds are set to return to Great American Ballpark for a six-game homestand that begins Friday.
  • CIN Designated Hitter #28
Eugenio Suárez went 2-for-4 with a homer as the Reds lost to the Padres 5-4 on Wednesday.
Suárez has dealt with injury this season, but his barrel rate has plummeted from last year’s 49-homer campaign. His track record suggests better days are ahead, particularly with a summer of batting in hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark still to come. The Reds return to Cincinnati for the start of a six-game homestand Friday.
  • COL Center Fielder #31
Jake McCarthy was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Cubs due to illness.
McCarthy will get some time off to rest and recover with top prospect Cole Carrigg in center field and Willi Castro heading out to patrol left field in his place.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #16
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Matthew Boyd (knee) will no longer be activated from the injured list this week.
Not good. Counsell added that Boyd experienced shoulder soreness following his final minor league rehab start and wasn’t feeling right after a bullpen session earlier this week. There should be a clearer return timeline for the 35-year-old southpaw, who is coming back from knee surgery last month, once he resumes throwing in the coming days. It’ll be Javier Assad taking the ball against the Giants at Oracle Park this weekend in his place.
  • SF Designated Hitter #8
Bryce Eldridge clubbed a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Giants to an 11-10 victory over the Nationals on Wednesday.
Eldridge also added a walk and a second run scored, homering for the second time in as many days. The 21-year-old first baseman/DH entered this one having hit .447/.512/.737 over his past 43 plate appearances, and Thursday’s performance will only juice those numbers. Eldridge was playing sparingly when he was first recalled from Triple-A, but he’s been in the lineup for 15 of the Giants’ past 16 contests. He’s yet to bat higher than fifth, but manager Tony Vitello will have no choice but to move him up if he continues to slug like this.
