Michael Pineda (triceps) is slated to rejoin the Tigers rotation on Saturday against the Royals.
He’ll officially be activated from the injured list on Thursday when rosters expand. The right-hander has been shelved since July 24 due to tightness in his right triceps. He’ll return to a 5.27 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 23/6 K/BB ratio through 42 2/3 innings in his 10 starts on the season.

Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in a win over the Red Sox on Monday.
Yelich has only one home run so far this season, and the exit velocities have been down, but he’s still slashing .395/.439/.579, so nobody is mad about that. At 34 years old, some of the power may be fading from Yelich’s game, but it’s too early to call that for sure.
Rea an 'interesting' fantasy SP with Horton out
Eric Samulski shares why Cade Horton's forearm injury could be a "long-term" situation and examines what options fantasy managers have with the Cubs SP on the injured list.
  • BOS 1st Baseman #40
Willson Contreras went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run, and two RBI in a loss to the Brewers on Monday.
Contreras blasted a 362-foot shot at 105.3 mph in the ninth inning for his second home run of the season. He also has four RBI on the year and has started to turn it on of late after a slow start to the season. He should still be in for a solid season in Boston this year.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #53
Brandon Woodruff allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Monday.
Woodruff also struck out four and walked two while posting a 22 percent whiff rate and 62 percent strikes overall. Woodruff’s four-seam velocity was down almost two mph in his one, but he actually started the game averaging under 90 mph on the four-seamer and was up around 92 mph at the end of the game. Woddruff was able to get ahead with his four-seamer, and his changeup missed plenty of bats in this one, so we wouldn’t worry too much about the mediocre results.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #66
Brayan Bello allowed four runs — three earned — on five hits in 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.
Bello also struck out five and walked four while posting a 47 percent whiff rate but just a 58 percent strike rate. The 26-year-old never registered whiffs near this rate last season. His cutter had 10 whiffs on 15 swings, and his changeup also earned five more whiffs and has started to look better than the version of the pitch we saw last year. Bello also didn’t allow much hard contact, with just a 78-mph average exit velocity allowed. He’ll need to throw more strikes, but this version of Bello is worth streaming this weekend against the Cardinals.
  • WSH Left Fielder #29
James Wood went 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, and three RBI in a 9-6 win over the Cardinals on Monday.
Wood had a huge home run in the eighth inning when he clubbed a 409-foot game-tying, three-run home run off Ryne Stanek at 114.3 mph off the bat. The 23-year-old now has three home runs and nine RBI on the season, but also has a 17/7 K/BB ratio in his 10 games, so he’ll need to get the swing-and-miss in order.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #79
Nationals optioned RHP Andre Granillo to Triple-A Rochester.
Granillo was shipped back to the minors after allowing two runs and recording only two outs during Monday’s game against the Cardinals, leaving him with an inflated 12.46 ERA across 4 1/3 innings this season.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #31
Max Scherzer was removed from Monday’s start against the Dodgers with forearm tendinitis.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters afterwards that Scherzer has been dealing with the issue recently before expressing confidence he’ll be able to make his next start. We’ll see. Scherzer’s fastball velocity was noticeably down from his season debut last week, averaging just 92.1 mph before he departed after 36 pitches over two innings. The 41-year-old future Hall of Famer is scheduled to take the ball against the Twins on Sunday. It goes without saying that any sort of absence would put additional strain on an injury-ravaged Toronto rotation mix that is already without Trey Yesavage (shoulder), Shane Bieber (elbow), José Berríos (elbow) and Cody Ponce (knee).
  • SD Starting Pitcher #33
Germán Márquez scattered six hits over five innings in the Padres’ 5-0 shutout of the Pirates on Monday.
Ron Marinaccio and David Morgan finished the shutout. It’s Márquez’s first win as a Padre and first overall in 13 starts since last June 18. He generated 13 whiffs tonight after notching just two in his first start against the Giants. We doubt he’ll be mixed-league relevant at any point this season, but he seemed serviceable tonight, and he’s probably ahead of Walker Buehler on the depth chart right now. He’ll next face his old buds the Rockies in a home start Saturday.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #36
Bubba Chandler lost after giving up three runs and walking four in 4 1/3 innings Monday against the Padres.
No one was expecting Chandler to limit walks this season like he stunningly did in his major league debut last year (4 BB in 31 1/3 IP), but he’s now at 10 through 8 2/3 innings in his two starts after also walking 11 batters in 11 innings this spring. It’s a testament to his stuff that he currently has a 3.12 ERA anyway, but something has to give. It’s probably fine to keep viewing him as a top-50 SP at the moment, but it’s also no sure thing he’s still going to be in the majors come May 1.
  • SD Center Fielder #3
Jackson Merrill had an RBI double, a walk and his first stolen base in a year Monday against the Pirates.
Not of the year. In a year. Merrill’s last steal came on Apr. 6, 2025. He went on the IL with a hamstring injury the next day and tried just one steal in 105 games after returning, getting thrown out on June 14. Merrill was 16-for-19 stealing bases as a rookie two years ago, so he is capable. It’d be big for his fantasy value if he could get back to that level this year.
