Reds activated 1B Joey Votto from the 10-day injured list.
Votto was activated from the injured list on his 40th birthday and is batting sixth in his return to the Reds lineup. He will likely split time at first base and DH down the stretch for the Reds as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs.

George Kirby pitched five innings of one-run ball Monday in the Mariners’ 3-1 defeat of the Astros.
The Mariners prevailed tonight even though they were outhit nine to seven and outwalked three to one. Kirby struck out seven and walked two in moving to 5-2. His strikeout rate is down some, but he’s more than countered it by generating more grounders, and he’ll take a 2.84 ERA into his next start against the Padres.
Mariners welcome Padres for Sunday Night Baseball
Interconference rivals go head-to-head on Sunday Night Baseball as the NL West leading San Diego Padres visit the Seattle Mariners.

Andrés Muñoz earned his eighth save with a scoreless ninth Monday against the Astros.
Muñoz gave up three straight hard-hit balls to begin the inning, but only one turned into a hit, and he then struck out Yordan Alvarez to end the game. As per usual, it’s been bend-but-not-break for Muñoz this season. He has a 5.63 ERA, but he’s 8-for-10 saving games, and he picked up a win after one of the two blown saves.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #20
Peter Lambert lost to the Mariners after allowing three runs in seven innings Monday.
Lambert’s latest quality start featured six strikeouts and one walk, but it’s a little concerning that his velocity was down; he averaged 93.5 mph with his fastball, 1.2 mph off his season average. He’d already gone from 95.3 and 95.1 mph in his first two starts to 94.3 and 94.4 mph in his previous two starts, so this is looking like a trend. He’s not a bad play this weekend against the Rangers, but this doesn’t really seem like the time to go pick him up.
  • SEA Catcher #29
Cal Raleigh finished 0-for-4 against the Astros on Monday, dropping his average to .157.
Things will eventually turn around for Raleigh, but it sure does seem likely that his 2026 production is going to be a lot more in line with what he did in 2023 and ’24 than his near-MVP season in 2025. Among qualified players, only Cedric Mullins, at .143, has a lower batting average right now.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Isaac Paredes went 3-for-4 and drove in Houston’s lone run Monday against the Mariners.
With Carlos Correa out for the season, Paredes figures to have third base all to himself in Houston the rest of the way, making him a perfectly fine option as a third baseman or corner infielder in mixed leagues. He’s hitting .271 with three homers right now, and the home run pace still figures to pick up.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #34
Michael Soroka shut out the Rangers for 6 1/3 innings in the Diamondbacks’ 1-0 win Monday.
Always start your pitchers against the Rangers at Globe Life Field. Teams have combined to score exactly 100 runs in 19 games there this year, 50 by the Rangers and 50 by their opponents. That’s average of 2.63 runs per game, compared to a league average is 4.43. Soroka allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five tonight. He’ll go from arguably the league’s friendliest environment for pitchers tonight to its harshest in Coors Field this weekend against the Rockies.
  • AZ Relief Pitcher #38
Paul Sewald worked a hitless ninth with a one-run lead for his ninth save Monday against the Rangers.
He plunked Corey Seager with two outs, but he retired the other three batters he faced. Sewald has delivered five straight scoreless appearances since giving up three runs to the White Sox on Apr. 23. He’ll eventually face challenges from A.J. Puk and Justin Martinez in the ninth, but the closer’s role in Arizona is all his for now.
  • AZ Left Fielder #73
Ryan Waldschmidt just missed out on his first big-league homer while going 0-for-3 on Monday.
Waldschmidt’s 412-foot fly to center in the third would have been a homer in 18 ballparks, but it was an out at Globe Life field. Waldschmidt is now 3-for-11 since joining the Diamondbacks. He went without a strikeout tonight after fanning four times in his first eight at-bats.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
Corey Seager went 0-for-3 before being hit by a pitch in the ninth Monday against the D-backs.
Seager was fine after the HBP, but his average is down to .189 after the hitless game. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Saturday that Seager would soon get a day off, but he’s been in the lineup both games since. Maybe Tuesday will be the day.
  • TEX 1st Baseman #21
Back in the lineup after two days off to work on his swing, Jake Burger went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Monday against the D-backs.
Burger did get to first base on a forceout in the eighth, only to be immediately removed for a pinch-runner. He’s at .204/.238/.355 for the season. He has a .260 OBP since the beginning of 2025, which is the worst mark in the league for anyone with at least 400 plate appearances.
