Haniger doubled in the second inning, then came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Luis Matos. The 32-year-old outfielder then tagged Rockies’ starter Peter Lambert for a 387-foot go-ahead two-run homer in the third inning, giving the Giants a 5-3 lead they would never relinquish. He also walked in the ballgame, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. With his two-hit effort, Haniger is now hitting .224/.277/.402 with six homers and 25 RBI through his first 49 games on the season.

Yesterday, Braves manager Walt Weiss said Acuña Jr. was day-to-day and that they didn’t think the injury was as severe as the previous hamstring injury that kept him out for 17 days in May. However, an MRI today must have told a different story. Acuña Jr. will miss at least the next 10 days and potentially more, since the Braves have a comfortable lead in the NL East and will want to make sure their star player is healthy. Soft tissue injuries tend to recur, and Acuña Jr. has also had two knee surgeries, so even though he has 15 steals already this season, there is a chance that the collection of lower-body injuries may keep him from reaching the heights we saw in 2023. Eli White should see regular starts in the outfield while Acuña Jr. is sidelined.

Beck had a 7.88 ERA in eight innings across six appearances for the Giants this season. He will continue to provide relief depth during the season.

Sanmartin got hurt during spring training while covering first base. He posted a 2.67 ERA in 67 1/3 innings for Triple-A Louisville in the Reds’ organization last season and could be a solid addition to the Giants’ bullpen.

Brennan had been sent to Triple-A at the end of May but will now be subject to waivers. If no team claims him, he could sign a minor league deal to return to San Francisco.

Adames is out because of lower-half discomfort he felt during last night’s game. As of now, there’s no indication this will be a lengthy absence. Casey Schmitt will start at shortstop with Victor Bericoto in left field, batting eighth, and Jonah Cox in center field, batting ninth.

Delgado was signed to a minor league contract in November after playing for the Brewers’ organization last season. The 26-year-old is hitting .250/.320/.362 with three home runs and 24 steals in 61 Triple-A plate appearances. He will provide organizational depth for the Astros.

Domínguez is working his way back from an AC joint sprain that he suffered on May 8th. With Aaron Judge (stress fracture) likely sidelined until August, it seems like Domínguez could have a solid runway of playing time coming up; however, Yankees manager Aaron Boone would not commit to activating the 23-year-old Domínguez in the coming day. Of course, if Spencer Jones struggles, that might make the decision easier.

The 22-year-old is now up to 18 home runs, 48 RBI, and a .937 OPS in 230 Triple-A at-bats this season. Lars Nootbaar’s return has clogged the Cardinals’ outfield a little, but Báez is certainly pushing for his opportunity.

Vodnik has been sidelined since May 20th with right ulnar nerve inflammation. He had a strong month of April, but struggled at the beginning of May as he pitched through the injury. He could work himself back into the late innings when he returns to the Rockies’ bullpen.

This is noteworthy because Fried was expected to get the follow-up imaging on Tuesday, but it apparently did not happen. The left-hander has been throwing from flat ground, but he will need more imaging before he can be cleared to ramp up his progression. Until that happens, there’s no way to put a timeline on his return from a left elbow bone bruise that he suffered on May 13th.
