Alfonso Rivas went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBI on Saturday night, leading the Pirates all the way back from a 9-0 deficit to defeat the Reds 13-12 in Cincinnati.
It’s the first time in Pirates’ franchise history that they have come back from a deficit of nine runs or greater to win a ballgame. Rivas started the long road back with an RBI single in the fourth inning that made it 9-1. He then smacked a bases-clearing three-run double in the seventh that tied the game at 9-9. Rivas also added an RBI single in the eighth inning that increased the Bucs’ lead to 11-9. With his three-hit attack, the 27-year-old is now hitting .219/.297/.419 with three homers, 15 RBI and one stolen base across 119 plate appearances on the season. This is a game that he’s never going to forget.

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Monday.
Woodruff is working his way back from shoulder inflammation that put him on the injured list last week. There’s a chance he’s ready to jump back into Milwaukee’s rotation without a rehab assignment, but that decision isn’t imminent. He’ll face hitters on Friday before that determination is made.
Temper power expectations for Guerrero Jr.
After finally hitting his first home run of May, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s power outage to start the season could actually be a sign of things to come for the remainder of year, where he could finish with 20-25 home runs.
  • COL Catcher #37
Rockies recalled C Braxton Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Fulford gives Colorado another left-handed bat off the bench after losing Jordan Beck (hamstring) to the injured list. The 27-year-old backstop has posted some impressive offensive numbers in the hitter-friendly Triple-A Pacific Coast League over the last few years but hasn’t been able to parlay them into sustained success at the highest level.
  • COL Left Fielder #27
Rockies placed OF Jordan Beck on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
No word yet regarding the severity or how much time Beck will miss. The 25-year-old outfielder has been a colossal disappointment this season, hitting .183/.227/.305 with one homer, 10 RBI and two steals in 88 plate appearances over 30 games. The most alarming part is that he’s striking out less than ever before, but his quality of contact and underlying batted ball metrics have been utterly abysmal this season.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #36
Rockies recalled RHP Zach Agnos from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Agnos holds a lackluster 5.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 20/10 K/BB ratio across 29 innings over 13 appearances for the Rockies this season. He’ll operate in low-leverage spots.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #63
Rockies optioned RHP Blas Castaño to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Castaño heads back to the minors after allowing one run over 2 1/3 innings during a brief stint with the Rockies over the weekend. The 27-year-old middle reliever was claimed off waivers from the Mariners last month.
  • CWS Catcher #8
Kyle Teel (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a sprained LCL and will miss 3-6 weeks.
It’s an unfortunate setback for Teel as he appeared to be close to making it back to Chicago for his season debut before suffering the injury during a rehab contest for Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend. The 24-year-old backstop will be on the shelf until at least early June before he’s potentially an option for the White Sox. It’s quickly turning into a bit of a lost season for Teel, who entered the year as one of the top young catchers in the game. Drew Romo and Edgar Quero will continue handling the catching duties for Chicago in his absence.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #7
Orioles activated 2B Jackson Holliday from the 10-day injured list.
It’s challenging to forecast Holliday making a significant fantasy impact right away since he didn’t exactly tear the cover off the ball during his latest rehab stint in the upper minors. The 22-year-old former top prospect experienced several setbacks during his rehabilitation process and has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery to repair a hamate fracture back in spring training. It may take time to shake off the metaphorical cobwebs, but Holliday should be an impactful fantasy contributor at second base this season, but only if he’s finally put the hand issue to bed. He figures to spend some time at both second and third base with the Orioles over the remainder of the year.
  • BAL Catcher #98
Orioles optioned C Maverick Handley to Triple-A Norfolk.
Handley returns to the minors to clear a roster spot for Jackson Holliday to return to Baltimore’s roster. The 28-year-old backstop got into one game for the Orioles during his latest stint with the club.
  • SEA Shortstop #85
Colt Emerson is at third base and hitting eighth on Monday against the White Sox.
Emerson went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in his major-league debut against the Padres on Sunday night. He’ll get a chance to face White Sox rookie lefty Noah Schultz in his second big-league contest. The 20-year-old prodigy remains a work in progress at the plate, like most top prospects at his age, but he’s displayed one of the strongest hit tools in the minors over the past few years, while adding some additional over-the-fence power within the last year. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all leagues based solely on his immense talent, but fantasy managers should keep expectations in check while he acclimates to everyday life in the majors.
  • TEX Center Fielder #23
Rangers recalled INF/OF Michael Helman from Triple-A Round Rock.
Helman returns to the majors for the first time since last year when he got into a career-high 38 games for the Rangers, with Corey Seager hitting the injured list with back inflammation. The 29-year-old figures to occupy a bench role at the highest level.
