Zach Eflin struggled in a losing effort against the Rangers in Game 2 of their Wild Card Series on Wednesday afternoon, surrendering five runs (four earned) on eight hits over his five innings of work.
The 29-year-old hurler walked two and struck out three in the disappointing outing. Eflin kept the Rangers off the board through the first three innings — including escaping from a two-on, no-out jam to begin the third inning. Things fell apart for him in the fourth though as Adolis García crushed a solo homer, Josh Jung added a bloop RBI triple and Evan Carter swatted a two-run blast. Eflin got seven swings and misses on 75 pitches on the afternoon, registering a 25 percent CSW. The right-hander remains under contract with the Rays through the 2025 season.
