Rays re-signed RHP Erasmo Ramírez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Ramírez split last season between the Rays and Nationals, compiling a bloated 6.41 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 43/13 K/BB ratio across 60 1/3 innings (38 appearances, two starts). The 33-year-old journeyman right-hander was an effective middle reliever for the Nationals during the 2022 campaign, and has plenty of experience at the highest level with 314 career appearances dating back to 2012, so there’s a shot he makes Tampa Bay’s season-opening roster with a stellar effort next spring in Grapefruit League action.
