Ji Man Choi homered and walked Tuesday as the Mets topped the Marlins 7-1.
Choi hit just .163 in 39 games last year, forcing him to settle for a minor league deal as a free agent, but his exit velocity numbers were the best of his career. He’s looking to overtake DJ Stewart and Mark Vientos to become the Mets’ top option at DH.

Eloy Jiménez elected free agency after refusing an outright assignment to Triple-A Buffalo.
Jiménez went 9-for-31 before being designated assignment to make room for George Springer on the active roster before Wednesday’s game. There likely will be interest on the market, but Jiménez will almost assuredly be looking at another minor league pact.
Rutschman putting up 'star caliber' statistics
James Schiano breaks down Adley Rutschman's performance in his six games since returning for the Orioles from the IL, in which he has put up an impressive performance with four home runs and 14 RBIs.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #23
Max Meyer allowed just one hit over seven innings and combined with Anthony Bender and Andrew Nardi on the Marlins’ 4-0 shutout of the Phillies on Saturday.
The one hit came off the bat of Garrett Stubbs, who was promptly erased on a double play. The only other batter to reach against him was Alec Bohm, who walked. Meyer fanned seven and needed just 83 pitches to get 21 outs. The knock against Meyer so far this season is that he just hasn’t worked deep into games at all, but he lasted seven innings for first time in his career today. He’s now 2-0 with a 2.68 ERA and a 40/13 K/BB in 37 innings, and he’ll face the Orioles on Thursday.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #24
Andrew Painter lost after allowing three runs in five innings Saturday against the Marlins.
Even one run would have been too many in this one, as the Phillies were shutout. Painter was very good aside from the third, when he gave up three straight singles and then walked both Agustín Ramírez and Connor Norby with the bases loaded. He issued just one other walk on the day, and he’d come into the game with six walks in five starts on the season. The loss leaves him 1-3 with a 5.28 ERA, but he’s been a little better than that suggests. He’ll likely get the A’s at home next week.
  • MIA 2nd Baseman #9
Xavier Edwards went 2-for-4 and hit his second homer Saturday against the Phillies.
Edwards’ homer against Andrew Painter was projected at 392 feet, making it the third longest drive of his career. He couldn’t look much like less a cleanup hitter, but he’s definitely proving worthy of the spot now while hitting .336/.426/.475 on the young season.
  • MIA 1st Baseman #1
Connor Norby went 2-for-3 with a double and a bases-loaded walk Saturday versus the Phillies.
Norby sat Friday, but he was back in the lineup at Christopher Morel’s expense today and had his first two-hit game in two weeks. The walk gave him his first RBI in seven games and 10th in 114 plate appearances overall. Since Morel’s return, Norby has been in the lineup four out of five games, with Morel playing twice. Things could get dicey for him if Morel gets hot, but it’s cleared he’s the preferred choice at first base for now.
  • PHI 1st Baseman #3
Bryce Harper went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Marlins on Saturday.
The entire Phillies lineup, aside from Garrett Stubbs, was skunked today, so Harper had plenty of company. Harper is hitting .216 in his last 10 games, dropping his OPS from .900 to .829. He does, however, have six RBI during the stretch.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #8
Christian Walker exited Saturday’s game against the Red Sox after being hit in the head by a pitch.
Walker was hit in the head by a 93 mph fastball and immediately exited the contest. The Astros will take every necessary precaution with Walker, and his status should be updated shortly. He went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI before exiting.
  • MIL Left Fielder #20
Brandon Lockridge went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Brewers to a 4-1 win over the Nationals on Saturday.
Lockridge brought two runs in to score on a bases-loaded single in the first inning. He later added a base hit in the eighth. The 29-year-old outfielder is getting sporadic playing time in left field, hitting .269/.352/.308 with seven runs scored, ten RBI, and five steals across 89 plate appearances.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #45
Abner Uribe tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to convert a save against the Nationals on Saturday.
After Trevor Megill worked a scoreless eighth inning, Uribe was summoned to close out the game against the Nationals with a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth. He allowed a leadoff base hit before the second batter reached on an error. Uribe worked around it with a strikeout, popout, and groundout to end the game with his third save.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #52
Kyle Harrison held the Nationals to one run while striking out five over six innings in a win on Saturday.
Harrison left the leadoff man stranded on base in each of the first three innings. The leadoff man would reach again in the fourth, and the Nats would finally break through with a base hit to score a run. He scattered three more hits over two more scoreless frames, ending his day after six with five strikeouts. The 24-year-old left-hander is having an excellent season so far, posting a 2.12 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 35/9 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings. He’ll take on the Yankees in Milwaukee on Friday.
