The Astros optioned OF Kenedy Corona to minor-league camp; reassigned C Luke Berryhill and OF Quincy Hamilton to minor-league camp.

Corona will start off the 2024 season in the minors after he went 4-for-13 with four singles and three walks in nine spring games. He spent most of his 2023 season at the Double-A level where he slashed .244/.325/.449 with 20 homers and 61 RBI. He’ll continue to be an outfield depth option for Houston.

Max Kranick

WSH Relief Pitcher #32

Nationals signed RHP Max Kranick to a one-year deal.

The deal is pending a physical. The 28-year-old underwent flexor tendon surgery in August, but has been throwing for teams this spring. He posted a 3.65 ERA over 37 innings with the Mets last year and should provide depth in the Nationals’ bullpen.

MIL Starting Pitcher #57

Coleman Crow threw 5 2/3 shutout innings for Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out seven.

Crow made an impressive MLB start on April 17th, but his first start back in Triple-A after that was less than ideal. It’s nice to see him bounce back here. The 25-year-old has a 5.40 ERA in 25 Triple-A innings with a 30/11 K/BB ratio. He remains a name to monitor if Brandon Woodruff has to go on the injured list because he does have one good MLB start to his name, and he’s currently lined up on the exact same pitching schedule as Woodruff is.

Colt Emerson

SEA Shortstop #85

Mariners SS prospect Colt Emerson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run on Thursday for Triple-A Tacoma

Emerson had been dealing with a wrist injury, so it’s nice to see him leave the yard here. The Mariners’ top prospect is hitting just .233/.347/.453 on the season with four home runs and a 28/13 K/BB ratio in 24 games, so he’ll need to string together a good run of production and health before a promotion becomes more likely.

Shane Smith

CWS Starting Pitcher #64

Shane Smith threw two scoreless innings for Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, walking two and striking out three.

Two scoreless innings is nice, as is allowing just one hit; however, Smith threw only 24 of his 48 pitches for strikes, and command continues to be a real issue for him. The 26-year-old was a great story last year after the White Sox snagged him in the Rule 5 draft, but there’s a chance he may fit best in the bullpen, where he had originally been with Milwaukee.

Hunter Dobbins

STL Starting Pitcher #40

Cardinals optioned RHP Hunter Dobbins to Triple-A Memphis.

Dobbins made his season debut yesterday after last season’s ACL surgery. He allowed three runs on two hits in 4 1/3 innings but walked five, which is to be expected after such a long layoff. The 26-year-old is arguably the best starting pitcher in the Cardinals’ rotation, so it’s a bit of a surprise that he would be sent back down after one start. He should be back up shortly.

Thomas White

MIA Starting Pitcher

Marlins LHP prospect Thomas White allowed two runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

He also struck out five and walked one while throwing 49 of his 87 pitches for strikes. The left-hander has recovered from an early-season oblique injury to post a 29/10 K/BB ratio with a 2.41 ERA in 18 2/3 Triple-A innings. With White, Braxton Garrett, and Robbie Snelling, the Marlins have three arms ready to go at Triple-A.

Carlos Lagrange

NYY Starting Pitcher

Yankees RHP prospect Carlos Langrange allowed two runs on three hits in 4 1/3 innings for Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Lagrange also walked three and struck out four while throwing just 55 percent of his pitches for strikes. Lagrange was super exciting in spring training, and he has plenty of upside, but he also has a 1.38 WHIP in 24 innings at Triple-A to go along with a 3.75 ERA, so there is some seasoning left to do.

David Morgan

SD Relief Pitcher #66
Padres optioned RHP David Morgan to Triple-A El Paso.

The 26-year-old hurler made 11 appearances during his time with the Padres, posting an unappealing 6.08 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and a 15/11 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings of work. A corresponding move will be made on Friday, which is expected to be the activation from the injured list of either Jeremiah Estrada or Yuki Matsui to fill the empty spot in the Padres’ bullpen.

Carlos Rodón

NYY Starting Pitcher #55

Carlos Rodón (elbow) was terrific in a minor league rehab start at Double-A Somerset on Thursday, piling up eight strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball.

The 33-year-old southpaw scattered five hits on the evening and did not walk a batter. He threw 75 pitches in the outing, 51 of those for strikes, while sitting 92-94 mph with his fastball and topping out at 95 mph. The expectation had been that Rodón would make one additional minor league rehab start before joining the Yankees’ rotation, though it’s possible his timeline gets pushed up given how dominant he was on Thursday.

Travis Adams

MIN Starting Pitcher #45

Twins activated RHP Travis Adams from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul.

The 26-year-old hurler had already been at Triple-A St. Paul on a minor league rehab assignment and he’ll remain there while he continues to work himself back into form. Adams has been sidelined since the end of spring training due to a right triceps strain.
