Warren will take the ball for the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Angels, weather permitting. The 25-year-old pitching prospect made his big league debut last Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing four runs over 5 2/3 innings before being shipped back to the minors. There’s some streaming appeal here for fantasy managers based on his talent in a favorable matchup, but he’s a risky option outside of deeper mixed leagues.

Passan notes that the Brewers are involved in the bidding for Tarik Skubal and are certainly looking to add starting pitching depth, but they could pivot to add Miller and trust that young starters like Shane Drohan, Robert Gasser, and/or Brandon Sproat can pitch 4-5 innings before turning the game over to a dominant bullpen.

Peralta and Holmes are almost assuredly being dealt this week, and the Cubs are looking to add starting pitching. As Passan notes, the Cubs also have “plenty of bats available” that could interest the Mets, like Matt Shaw and Pedro Ramirez in the big leagues, or Owen Ayers and Jefferson Rojas in the minors. It remains to be seen if the teams can make anything work, but the pieces seem to be there.

Of course, Mead is sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks with a fractured wrist, so that plays a part in it. All of Trevor Story (sports hernia), Marcelo Mayer (forearm stress reaction), and Isiah Kiner-Falefa (forearm stress reaction) are on the injured list as well, so infield depth is a need. The Red Sox have been linked to Otto Lopez, which would require a sizable offer that “would have to start with” Boston’s second-ranked prospect RHP Anthony Eyanson.

This is provided that Seager has no additional issues before then. The Rangers will be starting a crucial series this weekend against the Astros, and they want their star shortstop back for that. Seager has played just 51 games this season while battling injuries and is slashing .182/.292/.374 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI.

Montgomery threw 75 pitches over 4 1/3 innings over the weekend for Triple-A Round Rock, so this next outing should get him up over 80 pitches. The left-hander missed the entire 2025 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and hasn’t pitched in an MLB game in almost two years. He could return to the Rangers’ rotation next weekend, but he is not somebody who needs to be stashed in fantasy given his lengthy absence.

Greene is under contract for $15 million next season, $16 million in 2028, with a $21 million club option for 2029, so he is the type of controllable starting pitcher that teams would give up a haul for. He also has pitched poorly since coming back from elbow surgery and has some elevated injury risk due to his high velocity. He’s an absolute bargain at his current contract if he remains healthy, but perhaps the Reds are no longer willing to roll the dice on him staying on the mound.

It makes sense since Goodman is under team control for three more seasons and is hitting .254/.326/.545 this season in 100 games with 31 home runs, 60 RBI, and five steals. We know the Rockies have asked the Rays for Theo Gillen and have asked the Red Sox for Franklin Arias, both of whom are top ten prospects in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. As Rosenthal mentions, “it’s the usual dance,” as the Rockies expect teams to meet their offer, and the other teams expect the Rockies to lower their asking price. It remains more likely that Goodman stays in Colorado.

Clark, who is the 13th-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, is hitting .277/.368/.427 in 89 games at Triple-A this season with 10 home runs and 21 steals. He has been heating up in July, slashing .338/.466/.620. On the season, Clark has just a 37.7 percent hard-hit rate in Triple-A, so there may not be tons of power in the profile immediately, but he has tremendous plate discipline, great contact skills, and can run. Clark could be a solid source of batting average and steals this season.

The Orioles are unclear about whether they truly want to trade away players at the deadline because, despite being three games under .500, they are just 2.5 games out of a playoff spot. The expiring contracts include Taylor Ward, Trevor Rogers and Andrew Kittredge, but the Orioles are also listening to offers for Adley Rutschman, who is under team control for one more season. While it remains unclear what the Orioles will do, Rosenthal believes that “Ward and Rogers, even as rentals, could fetch sizable returns,” so they remain the two most likely to be moved. If anybody moves at all.

This was a candidate for game of the year so far. Down 4-0 before coming up in the first inning, the White Sox hung around, mounted a huge comeback in the eighth, and eked out a win with a walk-off hit in the 12th. Murakami was a huge part of that eighth inning rally hitting back-to-back home runs with Sam Antonacci and tying this game up. He also scampered home as the ghost runner in the 11th when the Yankees tried to back-pick him at third in an awful play. After needing a beat to get his timing back, Murakami now has three home runs and an .888 OPS in 15 games since returning from the injured list. That’s also come with a nearly 41% strikeout rate.
