The walk was Arraez’s first since July 24. Putting the ball in play even more than usual, he’s totaled 26 strikeouts and 18 walks in 508 plate appearances on the year. Add in the three homers, and only 9.3% of his plate appearances have ended in one of the three true outcomes.

Mitch Garver homered and drove in two runs in a 4-2 win for the Mariners on Sunday over the White Sox.

Garver, 35, smashed a solo homer off Sean Burke, and then drove in another rune off Burke courtesy of a sac fly. The 35-year-old has reportedly made the roster, and while he’s a shell of the hitter he was earlier in the decade, he’ll get a chance to give Cal Raleigh a spell and likely DH on occasion against southpaws.

Bryan Woo allowed just one run over his six innings against the White Sox on Sunday.

Woo blanked the White Sox over his first five innings before running into trouble in the sixth. He touched 97 mph with his sinker, and he was able to generate 11 swings and misses while picking up four strikeouts with no walks. It hasn’t been announced yet, but Woo will almost assuredly start the second game of the season against the Guardians on Friday with Logan Gilbert getting the nod for Opening Day.

Sean Burke

CWS Starting Pitcher #59

Sean Burke held the Mariners to two runs in five innings Sunday while striking out six.

Burke allowed a solo homer to Mitch Garver in the second, and two innings later Garver drove in a run with a sac fly. The southpaw was solid over his final two outings of the spring; allowing just three runs over 9 2/3 innings. He’ll be in the White Sox rotation, but he could only be recommended against the very worst lineups as a streamer, at best.

Bryce Eldridge

SF 1st Baseman #8

Bryce Eldridge homered while going 2-for-3 in a 2-1 win for Triple-A Sacramento over the Giants on Sunday.

It’s one of the greatest upsets in the history of sports. We still don’t have a sarcasm font. Eldridge took Tyler Mahle deep and also singled. The 6-foot-7 slugger is going to open the season in the minors, but he has a chance to provide some fantasy fireworks before the end of 2026.

Tyler Mahle

SF Starting Pitcher #54

Tyler Mahle struck out four over five innings of one-run baseball Sunday against Triple-A Sacramento.

Mahle has really impressed this spring, and while his velocity has fluctuated, the results are encouraging. The 31-year-old gave up a solo homer to top prospect Bryce Eldridge, and then kept the River Cats from reaching home plate. Mahle is going to pitch in the middle of the Giants’ rotation, and there’s just enough upside to suggest he’s worthy of a roster spot in deeper formats.

Lucas Sims

CWS Relief Pitcher #39

White Sox re-signed Lucas Sims to a minor league contract.

Sims opted out of his minor league deal Saturday, and is back with a deal that assuredly contains another opt-out for the 31-year-old. The White Sox will need to add Sims to the 40-man roster if they deem him worthy of an MLB spot.

Korey Lee

CWS Catcher #26

Korey Lee will not be a part of the Opening Day roster for the White Sox.

Lee’s chances of making the roster were tenous, and then it became obvious that the 27-year-old wouldn’t break camp with the team after Chicago signed Reese McGuire. The team will likely work out a trade for a team looking for a backup backstop, and if not, he’ll hit the waiver wire.

Colby Thomas

ATH Right Fielder #32

Athletics optioned OF Colby Thomas to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Thomas, 25, hit .239/.250/.435 in his 20 games of Cactus League action, and he’ll head to Triple-A to get regular playing time. There’s a pretty good chance Thomas will be up whenever the A’s need outfield help.

Kyle Nicolas

CIN Relief Pitcher #62

Reds optioned RHP Kyle Nicolas to Triple-A Louisville.

Nicolas was acquired at the start of March for Tyler Calihan, and the 27-year-old will somewhat surprisingly not open the year as a part of the Cincinnat bullpen. It’s likely he’ll be one of the first arms up when the Reds need reinforcement.

Connor Joe

SEA Right Fielder #17
Mariners optioned C Jhonny Pereda, RHP Cole Wilcox and RHP Yosver Zulueta to Triple-A Tacoma; reassigned INF/OF Connor Joe and INF Brock Rodden to minor league camp.

Pereda will provide some depth behind the plate in Tacoma. Joe performed admirably this spring, and if he doesn’t report to Triple-A, there could be interest in his bat on the open market.
