Pete Alonso went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and a run scored in a 9-1 win over the Athletics.

Alonso finally looks to be locked in. He didn’t make an out in this one and showed off a wide variety of skills with a long home run, a hit with runners in scoring position, and a two-out knock to boot. He finally pulled his OPS back over .800 despite dropping to fifth in the Mets’ order for the second time in nine games. It’s likely he’ll move back up to his usual fourth spot with five homers and .915 OPS over his last 15 games.

Roman Anthony (wrist) had his splint and brace removed and was able to play catch on Friday for the first time since landing on the injured list.

There’s still no clear target date for his return, but the 22-year-old budding superstar continues to make small strides in the right direction. He has been sidelined since May 4 due to a right wrist sprain.

Gerrit Cole (elbow) will make his next minor league rehab start on Saturday.

Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Friday that Cole is still likely to make an additional rehab start after Saturday’s outing and the team won’t accelerate his timeline in an effort to replace the injured Max Fried (elbow). Cole threw 69 pitches over 4 1/3 innings his last time out and should get to around 80 pitches during Saturday’s start.

Freddie Freeman is not in the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s contest against the Angels.

It’s nothing more than a routine night off for the 36-year-old slugger. Dalton Rushing will start in his place at first base and will bat eighth for the Dodgers against Angels’ right-hander Jack Kochanowicz.

Byron Buxton

MIN Center Fielder #25

Twins’ manager Derek Shelton told reporters on Friday that while Byron Buxton was held out of the lineup for a second consecutive game, he’s considered day-to-day.

Shelton noted that Buxton was “feeling better” and said he thought that they were heading in the right direction. It sounds like he should be able to avoid the injured list but may need a couple of extra days before he’s ready to return.

LAA Relief Pitcher #44

Ben Joyce told reporters on Friday that he underwent a precautionary MRI on his shoulder that came back clean.

Joyce has been struggling with his command during his minor league rehab assignment, and it sounds like some shoulder soreness may be the cause of it. He’ll slow down his rehab process but won’t completely stop throwing. As of now, the timeline for his return remains completely up in the air.

MIL Designated Hitter #22

Christian Yelich (back) remained out of the Brewers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s contest against the Twins.

It’s the third straight game that Yelich has missed since his back tightened up on him prior to Tuesday’s game. The Brewers plan to give him a few more days to see if he shows improvement before placing him back on the injured list. It sounds like the best bet for fantasy managers is to leave him benched for the weekend if at all possible.

The 33-year-old lefty masher was designated for assignment on Tuesday but passed through waivers unclaimed. He’ll continue to function as extra infield depth for the Mets.

Athletics optioned RHP Mason Barnett to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The A’s needed to clear a spot on their active roster for the arrival of Jose Suarez on Friday and unfortunately for Barnett he was the odd man out this time around. The 25-year-old hurler made one appearance during his brief stay with the A’s, firing two scoreless innings with a strikeout and two walks.

Logan O'Hoppe

LAA Catcher #14

Angels activated C Logan O’Hoppe from the 10-day injured list.

As anticipated, the 26-year-old backstop will rejoin the Angels prior to Friday’s series opener against the Dodgers. O’Hoppe had been shelved since April 25 due to a fracture in his left wrist. He returns to a .205/.323/.256 slash line with just one home run and eight RBI through his first 93 plate appearances on the season.

Ronald Acuña Jr.

ATL Right Fielder #13

Ronald Acuña Jr. (hamstring) took batting practice on the field on Friday without issue.

Braves’ skipper Walt Weiss told reporters that the superstar outfielder won’t be activated until he can play the outfield, so the expectation is that they’ll wait until next weekend for him to return. Either way, it sounds like he’ll be back sooner rather than later, which is highly encouraging for Braves’ fans and for fantasy managers.
