Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status over the remainder of the week, but Snitker downplayed concern about the issue prior to Monday’s contest in Toronto. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be Bryan De La Cruz taking a turn at DH on Monday night.

Gallen was given the green light to resume throwing after a visit with specialist Dr. Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that Gallen has been throwing for the last couple days. The 30-year-old was shut down to undergo evaluation and imaging after hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation prior to the All-Star break.

Arcia hit .271 (13-for-48) with one homer during a 19-game stint with Minnesota earlier this season. The well-traveled 31-year-old was removed from the club’s 40-man roster last month. He should be able to latch on somewhere as organizational depth.

Torkelson has homered three times in eight games since the All-Star break, but he’s hitting just .167 (5-for-30) with 11 strikeouts during that span. He’ll get a mental break after going 0-for-7 with five strikeouts in the first two games of this current series. It’ll be Colt Keith taking over at the cold corner to face Royals veteran Michael Wacha on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers are holding out hope that Verlander will be able to pitch before the end of the regular season, but the fact that he’s hasn’t progressed to throwing bullpen sessions means that he isn’t remotely close. He’s been shut down with a hamstring strain since mid-June. The 43-year-old future Hall of Famer is set to retire at season’s end and would undoubtedly relish the opportunity to take the mound in Detroit one last time before hanging up his spikes.

Caglianone was held out of Kansas City’s lineup for the third consecutive contest on Friday, but was feeling well enough to come off the bench as a pinch-hitter. The power-hitting 23-year-old is back in right field and hitting third for Saturday’s early-afternoon matinee in Detroit. He’s hit .242 (16-for-66) with two homers and seven RBI in 17 games since the start of July.

Thomas rejoins Atlanta’s relief mix for the second time this season after allowing four runs over 3 2/3 innings against the Pirates back on July 7. The 28-year-old was a notable pitching prospect with the Cardinals earlier this decade before injuries derailed his promising trajectory.

Hernández was jettisoned from Atlanta’s bullpen after tossing three scoreless innings in relief against the Orioles on Friday. The 31-year-old journeyman former starter should clear waivers and figures to remain with the organization as emergency depth.

Devers gave the Giants their first lead in the home half of the first inning as he pummeled a 2-1 fastball from Grayson Rodriguez for a 362-foot (101.8-mph) two-run shot. Schmitt did his damage in the third inning of this one, tattooing a 1-1 fastball from Grayson Rodriguez for a 412-foot (105.9-mph EV) three-run shot that increased the Giants’ lead to 5-1. That would be his only hit in the contest but played a major role in the victory. For the season, the versatile 27-year-old is slashing .272/.303/.489 with a career-high 21 long balls and 54 RBI in 400 plate appearances.

The Giants’ right-hander did an excellent job here, stranding the extra runner and giving the Giants a prime opportunity to walk it off in the home half of the 10th inning. He’s in the midst of a mediocre season overall for the Giants, posting a 4.57 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 49/18 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings in his 42 appearances. He has also notched three victories and eight saves on the season and still looks like the best option to see save chances in a nightmarish Giants’ bullpen.
