Joey Bart (back) is starting behind the dish for the Pirates on Thursday and hitting clean-up.
Bart had missed five games with a back injury, which allowed Henry Davis to make four starts behind the plate. Bart will now return to a near-everyday role and a .275/.370/.425 slash line. Davis will go back to being a backup.

Rockies sent 1B Keston Hiura outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Hiura passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from Colorado’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 28-year-old first baseman went 4-for-18 at the dish during an eight-game stint with the Rockies.
Why Astros OF Smith could be in for 'hot' summer
Eric Samulski details why Houston Astros rookie outfielder Cam Smith could be a valuable add for fantasy managers due to his strong contact rate and improving batting average.
  • PIT Catcher #59
Pirates sent C Brett Sullivan outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Sullivan will hang around with Pittsburgh as emergency organizational catching depth after going unclaimed on waivers following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 31-year-old backstop got into three games for the Pirates while both Endy Rodríguez and Joey Bart were sidelined due to injury.
  • NYY Shortstop #19
Yankees sent INF Pablo Reyes outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Reyes has the option to elect free agency, but might wind up sticking around with New York as emergency infield depth. The 31-year-old bench infielder was removed from the Yankees’ active roster earlier this week and went unclaimed on waivers.
  • HOU Shortstop #10
Astros recalled INF/OF Shay Whitcomb from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Whitcomb has put up some monster numbers the last few years on the doorstep of the majors, but he’s been unable to parlay that success into production at the highest level. The versatile 26-year-old would make an intriguing utility specialist for the Astros and figures to continue getting opportunities. His latest chance comes in the wake of veteran infielder Brendan Rodgers hitting the shelf with an oblique strain.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #72
Astros recalled RHP Nick Hernandez from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Hernandez gets the call to fortify Houston’s bullpen depth with Jason Alexander going back to the minors following Tuesday’s spot start in Sacramento. The 30-year-old righty has yet to pitch in the big leagues this season after making five relief appearances last year for the Astros.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #1
Astros placed 2B Brendan Rodgers on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Rodgers has been nearly invisible this season after cracking Houston’s season-opening roster, hitting .191/.266/.278 with two homers, 11 RBI and zero stolen bases through 43 games
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #54
Astros optioned RHP Jason Alexander to Triple-A Sugar Land.
This was supposed to be the summer of George. Alexander earns a ticket back to the minors after performing admirably during Tuesday’s spot start, limiting the Athletics to just three runs over six innings. The well-traveled 32-year-old figures to return to Houston’s pitching mix at some point in the coming weeks.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #57
Adrian Houser has been scratched from Thursday’s start against the Cardinals and will be placed on the paternity list.
The move isn’t official yet since Wednesday’s contest was postponed due to inclement weather. Houser was set to start Thursday’s contest against the Cardinals, so the White Sox will presumably either need to call up a spot starter or roll with a bullpen game during the doubleheader. Lefty Tyler Gilbert is expected to be called up to take his spot on the active roster.
  • PHI 3rd Baseman #4
Otto Kemp is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Marlins due to knee inflammation.
Kemp is dealing with some swelling after fouling a ball off his knee during Tuesday’s contest at loanDepot park. The 25-year-old rookie slugger should be ready to get back in the lineup at some point later this week. He’s gotten off to a nice start at the plate, hitting .278 (10-for-36) with four RBI and one steal through 10 games since coming up earlier this month from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
  • LAA Right Fielder #12
Jorge Soler is absent from Wednesday’s lineup with back stiffness.
Soler will get some extra rest during Wednesday’s showdown against the Yankees with Luis Rengifo heading out to right field in his place. The 33-year-old veteran slugger went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on Tuesday night and is just 5-for-42 with zero extra-base knocks since June 1. He’s presumably day-to-day for now.
