Conteras hit an unconscionable .139 with one home run and seven RBI in his first 18 games of the season. He’s since picked it up at the plate. Contreras’ average is now up to .250 and he’s had hits in eight of his last nine games. The 33-year-old first baseman has driven in 38 runs after a rough start to the year.

Pavin Smith homered twice to knock in four runs as the Diamondbacks blasted the White Sox 10-0 on Monday.

He also walked. It’s actually Smith’s first multihit game in June, though at least four of his six hits over the last two weeks have been homers. He’s still batting .268/.389/.474 overall after a very fast start.

ARI Starting Pitcher #57

Eduardo Rodriguez fanned 10 over six innings in the D-backs’ shutout of the White Sox on Monday.

It’s the first time Rodriguez has pitched at least five innings without allowing a run since Sept. 24, 2023 in his next-to-last start for the Tigers. While this has certainly been a forgettable year for Rodriguez so far, this is his third 10-strikeout game somehow. He’s 3-4 with a 5.40 ERA and a 74/24 K/BB in 66 2/3 innings. Although he’s definitely not an every-week play in mixed leagues at the moment, he’ll again be nice to have active when he faces the Marlins on Sunday.

Anthony DeSclafani

ARI Starting Pitcher #21

Anthony DeSclafani notched his first career save with three hitless innings in the 10-0 rout of the White Sox on Monday.

DeSclafani struck out four and walked two. His velocity is creeping up some out of the pen, and he got 11 missed swings on his 45 pitches tonight. If he can stay healthy, it looks like he’ll be of assistance to the Diamondbacks, perhaps eventually as a starting pitcher.

Shane Smith

CWS Relief Pitcher #64

Shane Smith lasted just two innings and gave up five runs Monday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Smith’s ERA has jumped from 2.37 a week ago to 3.38 now after back-to-back starts with five earned runs allowed. He was always going to hit a rough patch at some point, but considering that he was in the pen in 2023 and for part of last year, he might also already be wearing down. He’s due to face the Giants on Sunday, but since the White Sox have Thursday and next Monday off, they could back off him some.

Ketel Marte

ARI Center Fielder #4

Ketel Marte went 3-for-6 and hit his 14th homer against the White Sox on Monday.

Marte is 16 plate appearances shy of qualifying for the batting title, but if he did, he’d be third in the majors with a 1.017 OPS and with a .422 OBP. Marte was already an excellent player with his career 114 OPS+ through age 29, but he came in at 155 at age 30 last year and he’s at about 180 right now. It’s just ridiculous.

Carlos Correa

MIN Shortstop #4

Carlos Correa hit a solo homer in a blowout loss to the Mariners on Monday.

Correa went back-to-back with Trevor Larnach in the sixth inning to get the Twins to within five runs at 7-2. It’s just the sixth homer of the season for the 30-year-old shortstop, and he’s still slugging just .392 after the roundtripper. Correa has been known to go on power streaks, so perhaps this will be the start of one. It’s hard to count on at this point, however.

Luke Raley

SEA Center Fielder #20

Luke Raley hit a three-run homer in a win for the Mariners on Monday over the Twins.

Raley hit his first homer since returning from his oblique injury Friday, and this one was clobbered to center with an estimated distance of 436 feet. The 30-year-old is expected to hit in the middle of the order against right-handers, and he’ll get a chance to drive in some pretty good players when he’s in the lineup. Just keep in mind that he’s been one of the most inconsistent hitters in the sport over the last two-plus seasons.

Julio Rodriguez

SEA Center Fielder #44

Julio Rodríguez homered, doubled and drove in four runs to help the Mariner to a blowout win Monday over the Twins.

Finally. That was the first homer for Rodríguez in the month of June, and he got all of it off Bailey Ober with an estimated distance of 442 feet and an exit velocity of 112 mpth. He also doubled into the left-field gap to score a pair and punctuate the blowout in the ninth. Rodríguez was making hard contact the series before against the Cubs albeit without great results, but we all know what’s capable of when he’s at his best.

Cal Raleigh

SEA Catcher #29

Cal Raleigh homered again while helping the Mariners to an 11-2 win over the Twins on Monday.

That’s now 32 homers for Cal Raleigh, and that’s now four-straight games for the 28-year-old with a roundtripper. This one came in garbage time as the Mariners were leading by seven, but it counts just the same. Raleigh has also now driven in 68 runs and upped his OPS to 1.048. A spectacular first half even before you consider that he’s one of the best defensive catchers in the sport, as well.

Bailey Ober

MIN Starting Pitcher #17

Bailey Ober allowed seven runs in seven innings while picking up a loss Monday to the Mariners.

Ober pitched better than this line indicates. Six of the seven runs allowed came in the third inning — five of them on homers — and outside of that frame the 6-foot-9 right-hander kept Seattle off balance. All that being said, you give up six runs in an inning, you’re gonna have a bad time. Ober will try and erase that frame from memory and lower an unsightly 4.90 ERA against the Tigers on Saturday.
