Daz Cameron, who is on the paternity list, will be activated prior to Tuesday’s game. Avans, called up Friday, made one appearance for the Brewers and went 0-for-2 with a sac fly.

Since giving up 13 earned runs over 12 1/3 innings in his first three starts of July, Rasmussen has rebounded in a big way, throwing 13 scoreless innings with 19 strikeouts in his last two starts. Both of those turned into 1-0 wins for the Rays. This makes him 10-5 with a 2.91 ERA through 21 starts. He’ll need Cam Schlittler and Dylan Cease to falter some, but he’s still very much in the AL Cy Young mix at this point. A date with the Mariners in Seattle is in store next.

Baker’s velocity was off significantly for a second straight appearance — both his three fastballs and three changeups were down 2.5 mph from his season average — but then, it was only six pitches and he was working for the third time in four days. It was his 12th straight scoreless appearance. He’s allowed one run and seven hits in 19 innings since the beginning of June.

Schultz came into a scoreless game after Jordan Hicks pitched the first and gave up a lone run on a single, a steal and another single in the fifth. It was one of his best outings to date, but it didn’t stop him from dropping to 3-8 in 14 outings. Still, it’s really encouraging that he went without a walk for the third time in four starts. He’s walked just two in his last four appearances after issuing 29 free passes over 48 innings in his first 10. He’ll likely face the Guardians on Friday.

Montgomery has just one hit in his last five games, though that was a homer. Still, he’s down to .215/.295/.450 at the moment, giving him both his lowest average and OPS since late April. He’s batting .191 with 10 homers and six doubles since the beginning of June, compared to .234 with 15 homers and 11 doubles over the first two months.

Stock will be added to the active roster before Sunday’s finale against Miami. The right-hander will have a chance to work relatively deep in the contest, but it’s hard to get too excited about Stock from a fantasy perspective.

The Mariners scored in three innings today, and Arozarena was a driving force each time; he walked and scored in the first, homered in the second and then doubled to lead off the ninth before scoring on a fielder’s choice to end the game. He’s up to 14 homers, six of which have come in his last 23 games.

Gilbert was drilled just below his right knee by a 107-mph comebacker on the final play of the fourth. He stayed in afterwards, but after four scoreless frames, he allowed single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh, with two of those coming on homers. Gilbert departed a tie game, so he remained 8-6 on the season. The Mariners, though, went on to improve to 14-8 in his starts. He’ll face the Rays next weekend.

Finally feeling some sense of urgency, Dan Wilson brought Muñoz into a game in the eighth and asked for more than three outs from his closer for the first time all season. Muñoz responded well, getting out of Gabe Speier’s jam in the eighth and then keeping the game knotted in the ninth. It’s his fourth win to go along with 19 saves. He should be available again for three outs on Sunday after throwing 19 pitches today.

It seemed worth debating Prielipp versus Zebby Matthews in the Twins rotation following the Dean Kremer acquisition, but that Matthews pitched last night made it easy call to send him down initially. Plus, Prielipp did pitch well in his return from the IL against the A’s on Sunday. He was mediocre in walking four and giving up a Randy Arozarena homer today, but he did give the Twins a chance to win. The no-decision keeps him 3-5 with a 4.75 ERA through 15 starts. He’ll likely face the Brewers on Friday.

Brought into a 3-3 game, Morris gave up a leadoff double to Randy Arozarena in the ninth. After Dominic Canzone flied out and advanced Arozarena to third, Julio Rodríguez was intentionally walked to set up the double play. Morris might have gotten it, too. However, novice first baseman Royce Lewis stepped on first after fielding Cal Raleigh’s grounder and then was too late in trying to throw home to retire Arozarena. It was quite the disappointing end, especially since Lewis should have had the out at home had he gone there right away or probably could have pulled off a 3-6-3 double play had he instead gone that route.
