Bremner saw his stock drop after an uneven junior season in the Big West, but the Angels obviously liked what they saw. His 3.49 ERA is on the high side, but it came with an 111/19 K/BB ratio over 77 1/3 innings. There are two pitches that get plus-plus (or 70 on the 20-80 scouting scale) grades in a fastball that can get into the high 90s, and a change with late fade that comes from the same arm speed as that heater. The issue is that his breaking-ball is an inconsistent offering at best, and while he throws a lot of strikes, the command isn’t as good as the control. Bremner would be a lights-out reliever, but the stuff is good enough for him to be a starter who pitches near the top of a rotation someday, too.

The 26-year-old slugger will take a seat with left-hander Mitch Bratt toeing the slab for the Diamondbacks. Rhys Hoskins will start in his place at first base and bat cleanup for the Guardians on Friday evening in Cleveland.

At this point, it’s pretty clear that Friedl has been supplanted by Noelvi Marte in the team’s starting lineup, as Friedl has started just once in the team’s last six games despite facing five right-handers during that stretch. He made a few successful bulk relief appearances for the Rangers, but the veteran seems unlikely to be claimed considering his 8.16 ERA in Triple-A this year between Texas and San Diego. He’ll likely be back up with the Rangers after clearing waivers once his arm is fresh.

Santos did not pitch on his one day on the roster this time around.

Smith has been out of the Rangers plans in 2026, playing just 45 games while hitting .213/.299/.272. The Rangers are operating as if the 2024-2025 version of Smith doesn’t appear to be coming back any time soon.

Curvelo will be available in long relief for the Rangers, though his 7.56 ERA in 8 1/3 innings indicates that the outcome of the game will likely have already been decided if he has to pitch.

He can plug right back into lineups in daily leagues. Seager was hitting a rough .182/.292/.374 through 51 games, but he’s obviously got a history of being much, much better than that. The Rangers are hoping the 32-year-old can be a big reason they are fighting for a playoff spot down the stretch.
