García was on the bench on Wednesday, as well, after starting on Tuesday; however, he also missed both games over the weekend due to a quad injury. It remains to be seen if the Rangers will feel the need to play the 32-year-old while he’s at less than 100 percent, but he doesn’t need to be on rosters in redraft fantasy leagues anymore. Billy McKinney will start in right field for the second straight game since being called up from Triple-A.

Zach Cole

Zach Cole is starting in left field and batting leadoff against the Mariners on Thursday.

Cole has mainly hit in the bottom order since being called up, so this is a nice vote of confidence for the 25-year-old. He’s gone 7-for-23 with two home runs and six RBI in his eight games with the Astros, but also has a 9/0 K/BB ratio, so that overall contact will be something to monitor when projecting his playing time.

Though he's fresh off a complete game shutout, Bailey Ober's underlying metrics suggest he shouldn't be relied on as a set-and-forget fantasy start, but rather as a streamer in ideal matchups.

Cal Raleigh (oblique) is not in the lineup on Thursday against the Astros.

Raleigh was removed from Wednesday’s game with “right-side discomfort,” but Mariners manager Dan Wilson said the move was precautionary. However, Raleigh also missed three games with right-side tightness last week, so this is clearly an ongoing issue. There’s a chance that the Mariners will place their All-Star on the injured list until this issue subsides fully. Mitch Garver will catch and bat eighth on Thursday.

Christian Yelich (back) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Padres.

Yelich was activated off the injured list on Tuesday after missing a month with a groin strain. Unfortunately, his back felt tight after one game, and he has now missed the last two contests. Given his history of back injuries, his absence today is a bit concerning. William Contreras will be the DH with Gary Sanchez catching, but there is a chance that we will see Yelich head back to the injured list.

Marlins optioned RHP Josh Ekness to Triple-A Jacksonville

Ekness has been stellar for the Marlins with a 1.69 ERA in his first 5 1/3 innings. However, he has thrown 49 pitches over the last two days, so the Marlins will send him down to keep the fresh arms up in the bullpen. He will certainly get another chance soon.

Marlins recalled LHP Braxton Garrett from Triple-A Jacksonville

With Robby Snelling (elbow) landing on the 15-day injured list, Braxton Garrett will be called up to fill his rotation spot. The 28-year-old has pitched to a 2.30 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 32/15 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 Triple-A innings this season. He struggled in 37 innings in 2024 before undergoing elbow surgery and missing the entire 2025 season. He could be worth a stream in deeper formats.

Twins recalled RHP Zebby Matthews from Triple-A St. Paul

This was announced yesterday and is now official. Matthews will get a chance to hold down Taj Bradley’s spot in the rotation while Bradley is out with a pectoral strain. Matthews was a fantasy darling last season, but he struggled in 16 starts for the Twins and has posted a 4.72 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 33/11 K/BB ratio across 34 1/3 innings over seven starts for Triple-A St. Paul this season. We’d leave him on waiver wires for now.

Juan Soto (ankle) is starting at designated hitter and batting third on Thursday against the Tigers

Soto had to leave Wednesday’s game after fouling a ball off his ankle, but the Mets were never overly concerned with the injury and it appears he won’t miss any time. Get him back into your lineups as you would normally.

Kreidler was 3-for-14 with two home runs in his five games with the Twins earlier this season. He will most likely resume a super utility role off the bench.

Twins optioned OF Matt Wallner to Triple-A St. Paul

This is a bit of a surprise since Wallner figured to be a core member of the Twins’ lineup this season, but the 28-year-old is hitting .167/.259/.292 with a 39 percent strikeout rate, so he wasn’t providing enough value to be on the active roster. There is a chance that he can hit well enough to return over the summer, but he needs to get the swing-and-miss back to the levels that allowed him to hit .250 with 14 home runs in 76 games in 2023.
