Angels signed LHP Drew Pomeranz to a one-year, $4 million contract.
Pomeranz will be in the mix for high-leverage innings with the Angels alongside Robert Stephenson, Jordan Romano and Ben Joyce (shoulder). He’ll vulture the occasional matchup-dependent save but is unlikely to emerge as Los Angeles’ primary stopper. The 37-year-old southpaw was an unexpected revelation for the Cubs this past season, registering a sparkling 2.17 ERA — 3.36 FIP — and 57/15 K/BB ratio across 49 2/3 innings over 57 appearances, during his first stint back in the majors since 2021.

Michael Harris II hit his fifth and sixth homers to drive in three runs in the Braves’ 8-6 takedown of the Nationals on Wednesday.
Harris didn’t have any luck while boasting strong exit velocity numbers the first couple of weeks, but he’s been on fire since returning from paternity leave, going 12-for-30 with four homers in nine games. That his approach still is far from great will likely cause him to remain streaky going forward, but he has a realistic chance of finishing as a top-10 fantasy outfielder this year.
Giolito profiles as fantasy SP streamer with SD
Eric Samulski examines the ripple effects from Lucas Giolito signing with the Padres, sharing why the veteran starting pitcher shapes up as a fantasy streaming option.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #72
Didier Fuentes was lifted after allowing four runs in three innings Wednesday against the Nationals.
Fuentes struck out seven, but he also gave up seven hits, one being a three-run homer off the bat of Daylen Lile. The short start meant Martín Pérez, who could have started Thursday, was needed to pitch three innings behind him, and thus, both pitchers might lose their roster spots tomorrow with JR Ritchie and Carlos Carrasco coming up.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #75
Robert Suarez notched his second save Wednesday with a scoreless ninth versus the Nationals.
Suarez will be filling in for Raisel Iglesias for the next couple of weeks, but that just makes the eighth a little dicey for the Braves; they’ll still be just fine in the ninth. Suarez, who saved 40 games for the Padres last season, has allowed one run in 10 2/3 innings to begin the year.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #18
Zack Littell was lit up for eight runs — six earned — in six innings by the Braves on Wednesday.
Littell gave up four homers, bringing his season total to 11 in just 25 innings. Last year, he surrendered 36, the second highest total in the majors behind his current teammate Jake Irvin’s 38. The loss leaves him 0-3 with a 7.56 ERA, but he figures to stay in the rotation and face the Mets next week.
  • WSH Right Fielder #4
Daylen Lile went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer against the Braves on Wednesday.
After going 19 games without a homer to begin the season, Lile now has three in five games, pushing him up to .282/.333/.437 overall. It’d be nice if his elite speed made him a better basestealer — he’s 1-for-3 this year after going 8-for-14 as a rookie — but he’s thus far been useful in shallow leagues anyway.
  • NYM Shortstop #12
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Francisco Lindor will undergo an MRI after being removed from Wednesday’s game against the Twins with left calf tightness.
Mendoza added that Lindor is unlikely to play in Thursday’s series finale against Minnesota and will undergo imaging to determine the severity of the issue. The 32-year-old franchise building block suffered the injury while scoring on Francisco Alvarez’s fourth-inning double. It certainly sounds like a trip to the injured list is in play. There should be some clarity on his status prior to Thursday’s contest. It would likely be a red-hot Ronny Mauricio coming up from Triple-A Syracuse to take Lindor’s roster spot, if he’s facing an extended absence.
  • CHC Right Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Wednesday, propelling the Cubs to a 7-2 win over the Phillies.
Suzuki ostensibly put the contest away with a fifth-inning blast against Phillies bulk reliever Taijuan Walker. The 31-year-old corner outfielder has gone deep in back-to-back contests after going 10 games without a big fly after coming off the injured list back on April 10.
  • PHI Left Fielder #12
Kyle Schwarber went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Wednesday’s loss to the Cubs.
Schwarber has homered twice in his last three games, but he’s hitting just .143 (4-for-28) with three RBI over his last seven games. The Phillies have been abysmal in recent weeks and have scored the third-fewest runs in baseball this season. It’s not what you want. They’ll attempt to snap an eight-game losing streak during Thursday’s series finale.
  • CHC Center Fielder #4
Pete Crow-Armstrong went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in a win over the Phillies.
Crow-Armstrong delivered a game-tying RBI double in the second inning before adding a run-scoring single in the eighth inning to close the scoring. The 24-year-old center fielder has started to heat up, batting .320 (8-for-25) with two RBI and one steal over his last seven games.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #16
Matthew Boyd struck out five and allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Phillies.
Boyd was lifted after 84 pitches (56 strikes) as the Cubs didn’t want to push him too far from a workload standpoint in his return from the injured list. The -year-old veteran southpaw generated 12 swinging strikes and gave up only five hits, falling just short of qualifying for a win in this one. He’ll bring a pedestrian 5.79 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 22/3 K/BB ratio across 14 innings into a road outing against the Padres on Monday.
