Hunter Feduccia hit a three-run homer Tuesday in the rout of the Twins.

Feduccia was really disappointing after being acquired from the Dodgers at last year’s deadline — he hit .151 with no homers in 102 plate appearances — but since the Rays declined to upgrade over the winter, he’s probably going to make the team alongside Nick Fortes. That Feduccia is a lefty could allow the Rays to go with a true platoon behind the plate, but it seems likely that Fortes will get the majority of the playing time initially.

Blue Jays placed LHP Patrick Corbin on the 15-day injured list with a left teres major strain.

It’s the first absence for the durable Corbin since the end of the 2022 season, when he was stashed on the IL to keep him from picking up his 20th loss. Corbin had posted an 8.18 ERA over 11 innings in four appearances since being sent to the bullpen at the beginning of the month.

Blue Jays recalled LHP Adam Macko from Triple-A Buffalo.

With Patrick Corbin landing on the IL, Macko is able to rejoin the Toronto bullpen just five days after being demoted. He has a 5.03 ERA and a 21/9 K/BB in 19 2/3 innings this season.

Blue Jays recalled OF Davis Schneider from Triple-A Buffalo.

Schneider will get another look after hitting .298/.469/.660 with five homers in 15 games for Buffalo this month, but it could be a brief stint with Jesús Sánchez expected back soon. Schneider will likely play left field against lefties for now.

Blue Jays optioned INF Sean Keys to Triple-A Buffalo.

Keys went 6-for-36 with one homer and a 13/1 K/BB in his 12 appearances with the Blue Jays. He remains a nice corner infield prospect, but odds are that he’s not going to get a real chance to help until next year.

Blue Jays sent OF Jesús Sánchez (ankle) on a rehab assignment to the FCL Blue Jays.

Sánchez was placed on the IL on June 27 and figures to have at least a week or two of rehab games. He’ll likely be back near the start of August. The 28-year-old outfielder was hitting .274/.316/.437 in 234 plate appearances before suffering the ankle sprain that sent him to 10-day injured list.

Rays activated RHP Jesse Scholtens from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

Scholtens missed two months with a wrist strain. He’ll probably see some time with the Rays down the stretch, but given that he’d allowed eight runs in 9 1/3 innings on his rehab assignment, the team was in no hurry to bring him back.

The Cubs are promoting James Triantos to the majors, according to Baseball America’s Geoff Pontes.

He’ll likely be taking the spot of either Kevin Alcantara or Justin Dean. The 23-year-old Triantos, who will be making his major league debut, has hit .306/.344/.440 while mostly playing second and third for Triple-A Iowa this season. He also has some outfield experience. It seems unlikely that he’ll be able to carve out a significant enough role with the Cubs to produce any fantasy value.

Trevor Larnach is taking a seat against a right-hander Thursday against the Guardians.

That’s odd, especially after The Athletic’s Dan Hayes just wrote about Larnach potentially being available in trade. However, it probably has something to do with the fact that Larnach is 0-for-12 against Cleveland starter Gavin Williams in his career. The Twins have Austin Martin starting in Larnach’s place in left field today. Brooks Lee is leading off.

Ian Seymour will serve as a bulk guy Thursday behind Casey Legumina against the Blue Jays.

The Jays lack threatening left-handed hitters right now, so the Rays will let Legumina deal with Ernie Clement and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the first. Seymour pitched just three innings and gave up three runs in his last start Saturday against the Red Sox. Working in the bulk role makes him a better bet to get a win today.

    Cardinals released RHP Ian Bedell.

Bedell, a 2020 fourth-round pick out of Missouri, needed Tommy John earlier in his pro career and dealt with another round of elbow woes last year. He looked like a legitimate prospect when healthy in 2023 and ’24, but nothing had gone right since. Pitching in relief for the first time, he had an 11.78 ERA in 18 1/3 innings for Triple-A Memphis this year.
