Harry Ford went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer Tuesday as Great Britain beat the Brewers 7-3.
The homer was a 418-foot shot off Jared Koenig. Ford probably isn’t helping his chances of making the Nationals by taking part in his second World Baseball Classic, but barring quite the upset by Great Britain in Pool B, he could be back with the team in a week. He could wind up Triple-A for a spell to start the year while the Nationals decide what they’re doing with Keibert Ruiz.

Mike Burrows will start the second game of the season on Friday against the Angels, according to Astros manager Joe Espada.
Espada added that Spencer Arrighetti will open the season back at Triple-A Sugar Land before being an option once they expand to a six-man rotation. It’ll be Cristian Javier and Tatsuya Imai taking the ball over the weekend against the Angels before Lance McCullers Jr. starts Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox.
Cubs' Suzuki (knee) to miss opening day
With Seiya Suzuki's start to the season uncertain due to injury, Eric Samulski gives advice to fantasy managers eyeing the Cubs for their depth in designated hitters.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #80
Emmet Sheehan will start the second game of the season against the Diamondbacks on Friday, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Sheehan will follow Opening Day starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto with Tyler Glasnow closing out a three-game season-opening series against Arizona. It’ll be Roki Sasaki followed by Shohei Ohtani early next week to kick off a three-game set against the Guardians at Dodger Stadium. There are some reasons for mild concern with Sheehan fantasy-wise after experiencing some diminished velocity this spring but he’s still going to be a viable mixed-league fantasy contributor. It’ll be Justin Wrobleski operating in a piggyback role, most likely with either Sheehan or Sasaki the first time through the rotation.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #83
Rockies reassigned RHP Valente Bellozo to minor league camp; released RHP John Brebbia.
Bellozo and Brebbia were in Rockies camp this spring as non-roster invitees attempting to make the club’s season-opening relief mix. Bellozo will presumably head to Triple-A Albuquerque to open the year while Brebbia has been cut loose to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
  • CIN 1st Baseman #31
Reds selected the contract of 1B Nathaniel Lowe from Triple-A Louisville.
It’s merely a procedural move as Lowe was assured a spot on Cincinnati’s season-opening roster over the weekend when JJ Bleday and Rece Hinds were jettisoned to the minors. The 30-year-old first baseman will serve in a bench role for the Reds but his odds of syphoning at-bats away from Sal Stewart and Spencer Steer on a consistent basis are extremely low.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #21
Reds placed RHP Hunter Greene on the 60-day injured list.
Greene will be sidelined until at least July after undergoing surgery earlier this month to remove bone chips removed from his right elbow. The dynamic 26-year-old fantasy ace is likely to miss the first half of the upcoming season but should be cleared to start a throwing program by the end of April. He’s worth stashing in all fantasy formats based on his astronomical talent alone.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #58
Nationals selected the contract of LHP Cionel Pérez from Triple-A Rochester.
Pérez winds up making Washington’s season-opening bullpen as a non-roster invitee after spinning six scoreless frames in Grapefruit League action. The 29-year-old southpaw was a key component of Baltimore’s relief mix over the past four seasons, posting a strong 3.72 ERA across 186 1/3 innings over 212 appearances.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #40
Nationals placed RHP Josiah Gray on the 60-day injured list with a right flexor strain.
Gray was set to open the year back at Triple-A Rochester working his way towards a return to Washington’s rotation for the first time since April, 2024. The 28-year-old right-hander’s once-promising career has been derailed by injuries the past couple seasons after making 58 starts for the Nationals from 2022-2023. He was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball roughly a half-decade ago before being shipped from the Dodgers as part of the Trea Turner and Max Scherzer trade back in 2021.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #75
Nationals placed RHP Paxton Schultz on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 22, with right elbow inflammation.
No word yet regarding how much time Schultz is expected to miss but elbow issues typically result in extended absences. The 28-year-old reliever was claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays back in January after posting a serviceable 4.38 ERA across 24 2/3 innings last year at the highest level.
  • ATH 2nd Baseman #16
Michael Stefanic went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk as the A’s came back to beat the White Sox 10-9 on Monday.
The White Sox took a 7-0 lead in a game in which the A’s pulled their regulars after two, but the minor leaguers combined to scored nine times between the fourth and fifth to pull this one out. Stefanic, who was cut from the spring roster a week ago, finishes up the Cactus League season with a .500/.565/.725 line and nine RBI in 44 plate appearances. He’ll probably be in line for a look if an infielder gets hurt.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #19
Luis Morales allowed three runs and four walks in 2 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Monday.
Morales walked three of the first four batters he faced and then gave up a bases-loaded double to Lenyn Sosa, at which point he was lifted. He came back out for the second and retired six of seven through the third before being removed for good. Morales, who will face the Jays on Sunday, concludes the spring with a 7.58 ERA and a 17/14 K/BB in 19 innings. He was rather impressive for the A’s last season, but he doesn’t make sense as a starter in shallow leagues right away.
