Jorge Polanco went 2-for-2 with a homer and a walk versus the Cardinals on Tuesday.

It was just Polanco’s fourth game this spring, as the Mets don’t want to overwork him while trying to teach him the finer points of playing first base. Polanco figures to prove at least adequate defensively. Still, in part to preserve his legs, he might see a lot of time at DH, with Brett Baty playing first.

Emmet Sheehan

LAD Starting Pitcher #80

The Dodgers will open up with a rotation of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, Emmet Sheehan and Shohei Ohtani, manager Dave Roberts said Sunday night.

Katie Woo of The Athletic reported earlier Sunday that Sheehan might not a start the first time through, but it’s now confirmed that he will. Justin Wrobleski, who was the alternative to Sheehan, will piggyback off of one of the starters. Based on spring performance, Sasaki, who will start the final game of the opening series against the D-backs, would seem to be the most likely choice. Sheehan and Ohtani will get the Guardians next Monday and Tuesday.

Padres optioned LHP JP Sears to Triple-A El Paso; reassigned OF Jase Bowen, OF Carlos Rodríguez, INF José Miranda and RHP Logan Gillaspie to minor league camp.

Miranda hit .304/.373/.522 this spring, but his fate was sealed when the Padres committed to Ty France as a bench guy. Sears probably would have had a rotation spot with a strong spring, but he turned in an 8.44 ERA in his three starts. If the Padres had it to do over again, they probably would have non-tendered him in November instead of retaining him for $2.75 million.

Tyler Glasnow

LAD Starting Pitcher #31

Tyler Glasnow struck out 11 while pitching five innings of one-run ball as the Dodgers blasted the Angels 13-5 on Sunday.

A 10-run third inning decided this one quickly. Glasnow got whiffs on exactly half of the 36 swings against him. His spring ends with a 3.45 ERA and an outstanding 26/3 K/BB in 15 2/3 innings. He’s pretty obviously not going to contribute for six months this year, but it looks like he might be especially good early on.

Tanner Scott

LAD Relief Pitcher #66

Tanner Scott allowed four runs — three earned — while retiring just one batter Sunday against the Angels.

With an 11/1 K/BB and just one run given up, Scott was having an excellent spring until tonight. He still seems on track to bounce back and turn into a fine setup man in front of Edwin Díaz this year. Fortunately, fantasy leaguers won’t have to worry so much about his ups and downs as when he was supposed to be closing last year.

George Klassen

LAA Starting Pitcher

George Klassen walked four and gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings against the Dodgers on Sunday.

There’s a case for Klassen in the rotation over either Ryan Johnson or Jack Kochanowicz, but he didn’t make the Angels regret their choice to send him down with his performance tonight. Klassen will probably open up in Triple-A Salt Lake’s rotation, even though the Angels typically try to limit their top pitching prospects’ exposure to such a tough environment. It seems likely that he’ll get a look at some point during the first half.

Jorge Soler

LAA Right Fielder #12

Jorge Soler knocked in four of the Angels’ five runs with homers off Tyler Glasnow and Tanner Scott in Sunday’s loss to the dodgers.

Soler is batting .361/.452/.750 in 43 plate appearances, and it looks like he’ll open the season in the cleanup spot ahead of Yoán Moncada, who seemed in line to bat fourth at the beginning of the spring. He could be helpful in shallow leagues initially, particularly for teams looking for power over batting average.

Gabriel Moreno

AZ Catcher #14

Gabriel Moreno homered twice and doubled in leading the Diamondbacks to a 11-1 defeat of the Padres on Sunday.

No cheapies for Moreno: his homers off Walker Buehler were projected 459 and 445 feet. Moreno quietly hit .285/.353/.433 in his 83 games while healthy last season, and he’s still adding power at age 26. Plus, he’s probably going to occupy the cleanup spot in Arizona’s lineup initially. He should be a top-10 fantasy catcher if he can stay healthy.

Walker Buehler

SD Starting Pitcher #10

Walker Buehler surrendered four homers and seven runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Good thing the Padres already gave him a roster spot. Five of the 11 hits Buehler allowed tonight came on non-hard-hit balls, but it’s hard to say a guy who gave up four homers was unlucky. He ends the spring with a 6.60 ERA and a 16/5 K/BB in 15 innings.

Matt Waldron

SD Starting Pitcher #61

Matt Waldron gave up four runs over three innings of relief work Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

It was Waldron’s second outing back from a posterior infection. Just like in his first outing before being sidelined, his velocity was up 2-3 mph from last year. He’s not going to begin the year on the Padres’ roster, but if he keeps it up, he should be considered for a rotation spot before long.

Mitch Garver

SEA Catcher #18

Mitch Garver homered and drove in two runs in a 4-2 win for the Mariners on Sunday over the White Sox.

Garver, 35, smashed a solo homer off Sean Burke, and then drove in another rune off Burke courtesy of a sac fly. The 35-year-old has reportedly made the roster, and while he’s a shell of the hitter he was earlier in the decade, he’ll get a chance to give Cal Raleigh a spell and likely DH on occasion against southpaws.
