Trevor McDonald pitched decently in a no-decision against the White Sox on Thursday night, giving up two runs on four hits across four frames.

The 25-year-old hurler punched out four batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. The damage done against him all came via the long ball as Lenyn Sosa launched a solo shot in the second inning and Derek Hill did the same in the third. McDonald got eight swings and misses on 52 offerings in the contest, registering a CSW of 31 percent. He has had an impressive spring for the Giants, posting a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and an 11/2 K/BB ratio over 10 innings in his four appearances.

Technically they “optioined” him per their X account. Cruz has allowed an MLB-high four homers out of the bullpen and carries a bloated 14.40 ERA. This feels like a “get right” demotion.

Royals optioned RHP Luinder Avila to Triple-A Omaha.

Avila allowed just one run in three innings on Wednesday backing up Cole Ragans, but carries a 9.00 ERA on the year and will likely spend a lot of time on the Omaha/Kansas City shuffle this year.

Royals recalled RHP Mitch Spence from Triple-A Omaha.

Spence threw five innings in his first start in Omaha, allowing just one run in five innings despite striking out one. It’s possible he’s a bulk reliever or starter over the weekend if the Royals want to shift some pitchers around in the wake of Cole Ragans leaving yesterday’s start early.

NYM Relief Pitcher #33

Mets sent LHP A.J. Minter (lat) on a rehab assignment to Single-A St. Lucie.

The comeback begins for the 32-year-old left-hander. Minter was widely expected to be available in late April or early May, and beginning this assignment now seems to align well with that timetable. Once back he’ll push Brooks Raley for No. 1 lefty duties in New York’s pen.

Sal Stewart

CIN 3rd Baseman #27

Sal Stewart homered for the second straight day against the Marlins on Thursday.

He took a Max Meyer fastball out almost to dead center, it landed 409 feet away when it was all said and done. Stewart, hitting .364/.473/.727 with four homers and three steals in his first 44 plate appearances, looks like one of the biggest fantasy steals by ADP so far. Just 22, he might be a linchpin for fantasy mangers going forward and has definitely forced his way into the high-end keeper discussion.

Owen Caissie

MIA Right Fielder #17

Owen Caissie went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two doubles against the Reds on Thursday.

Caissie’s 2-RBI double in the fourth-inning was just over the glove of T.J. Friedl in left field, plating two. He added an RBI single in the seventh. Caissie has stabilized in the No. 6 spot against right-handed starters. The platoon role keeps him from being a must-start in fantasy leagues, but he’s looked more than able through his first few weeks in Miami, hitting .324/.385/.618 through his first 34 plate appearances.

Javier Sanoja

MIA 2nd Baseman #8

Javier Sanoja went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI as the Marlins hammered the Reds 8-1 on Thursday.

Sanoja struck out with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, keeping him from having a true monster game. Oh well. The 23-year-old gold glover is now hitting .406/.424/.500 while playing most of the positions in the outfield and infield. It’s early and there’s been just one steal here, but if Sanjoa can keep his average somewhere in this area code, he can have a Luis Arraez-esque fantasy role.

Rhett Lowder

CIN Starting Pitcher #25

Rhett Lowder pitched into the sixth inning against the Marlins, allowing five runs (four earned) and striking out just two.

Things could have been different if a couple of Reds outfielders had been able to finish off plays, including Dane Myers outright dropping Xavier Edwards’ triple in the first inning, but Lowder was giving up plenty of loud contact. He allowed 10 hard-hit balls and got zero whiffs on his 15 sinkers that Marlins batters swung at. Lowder figures to take on the Giants in his next start, so he remains on the streaming radar despite his lack of strikeouts.
