Orioles reassigned OF Enrique Bradfield Jr. to minor league camp.
The 24-year-old really struggled in his limited Grapefruit League action, hitting .091 (1-for-11) with a 1/3 K/BB ratio and three runs scored. Regardless of how he performed though, the O’s have a crowded mix of outfielders fighting for spots on the Opening Day roster and Bradfield was always going to be on the outside. He’ll open up the season as extra depth at Triple-A Norfolk.

Braves selected the contract of RHP Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Didier Fuentes only lasted three innings on Wednesday night, so the Braves had to use Martin Perez for 52 pitches in relief. That means the team needs JR Ritchie to start on Thursday and needs somebody else to provide length out of the bullpen over the weekend. That role will fall to Carrasco, but he remains off fantasy radars.

Braves selected the contract of RHP JR Ritchie from Triple-A Gwinnett.
This was reported last night but is now official. Ritchie, the 79th-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline, had a 0.99 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 28/13 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings over five starts for Triple-A Gwinnett this season. He will make his MLB debut on Thursday against the Washington Nationals. Even though Didier Fuentes struggled against the Nationals on Wednesday, Ritchie could be worth a stream. He has a much deeper pitch mix than Fuentes, including a curveball and cutter that he added last year. There’s a chance that he could pitch his way into a full-time role in Atlanta.

Braves placed LHP Dylan Dodd on the 15-day injured list with left thoracic spine inflammation.
That doesn’t sound great. Dodd was called up on Tuesday and allowed one run on two hits in one inning while striking out two. It’s a tough break for the 27-year-old, who should be out for a few weeks.

Braves optioned RHP Didier Fuentes to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Fuentes allowed four runs in three innings against the Nationals on Wednesday, but also struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter. The 20-year-old has been good to start the season in Triple-A, and he did mix in his splitter more in this outing than we’ve seen in the past, which is important since he has primarily been a two-pitch pitcher. He still has some work to do on refining his command, but he could be an option for the Braves and fantasy managers over the summer.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #0
Francys Romero reports that the Mets are calling up INF Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse.
This makes sense since Francisco Lindo injured his calf in Wednesday night’s game and was removed in the fourth inning. The Mets still have not announced MRI results for Lindor, but a trip to the injury list seems likely, and manager Carlos Mendoza said after the game that the Mets would likely call up somebody who has experience playing shortstop. Mendoza did not rule out simply keeping Bo Bichette at shortstop, but Mauricio has experience playing third base as well, so he could push Brett Baty for playing time. He’s worth an add right now in deeper formats since he was hitting .315/.362/.685 with six home runs in Triple-A.

Rays OF prospect Jacob Melton suffered a lower leg injury in Wednesday’s game for Triple-A Durham.
Melton took an awkward step while rounding third base and was unable to walk off the field under his own power. We know that the trainers were examining his ankle/shin area, but we have no word yet on the severity of the injury. However, it does seem like this will keep him out for a bit of time. The 25-year-old was off to a solid start with a .346 on-base percentage and 16 steals in 19 games.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #17
Astros general manager Dana Brown said the team is debating moving Kai-Wei Teng back to being a starting pitcher.
Teng has been arguably one of the team’s best relievers this season, posting a 1.65 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 16/6 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings. He was far less successful as a starter with the Giants last year, posting a 7.66 ERA and 35/16 K/BB ratio in his 24 2/3 innings as a starter. However, with all of Hunter Brown (shoulder), Tatsuya Imai (arm fatigue), Cristian Javier (shoulder), Brandon Walter (elbow), Ronel Blanco (elbow), and Hayden Wesneski (elbow) sidelined, the Astros could use more starting pitching depth.
  • AZ Catcher #14
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports that Gabriel Moreno (oblique) is “expected to return for the Milwaukee series that begins next Tuesday.”
Moreno hasn’t played since April 10th, but it sounds like he won’t need a long rehab assignment, or any at all, before returning to the Diamondbacks’ lineup. His return would significantly cut into the playing time for Adrian Del Castillo.
  • AZ Right Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll stole two bases and tripled while going 3-for-4 in a win over the White Sox on Wednesday.
On a night where several D-backs had huge offensive nights, Carroll quietly stole his third and fourth base while hitting his second three-bagger of the campaign. The three-hit day now has Carroll hitting .312/.413/.610 on the campaign.
  • CWS 3rd Baseman #20
Miguel Vargas homered and stole a base in a loss for the White Sox to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Vargas’s homer is the fifth of the season for the 26-year-old, while the steal is the fourth. He also drew a walk, and after an awful start to the year, he’s now slashing .193/.333/.434. All but that batting average will play from a fantasy perspective, and the hits should start to fall on a more consistent basis.
