Acton heads to the shelf prior to Tuesday’s game against the Mariners after posting a strong 2.74 ERA and 9/3 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings over four appearances. The 27-year-old is likely facing a lengthy absence since shoulder issues are typically multi-week issues.

Kent has been removed from Minnesota’s 40-man roster to make room for veteran reliever Luis García. The 28-year-old has posted a pedestrian 4.91 ERA across 3 2/3 innings for the Twins this season.

Brendan Donovan

SEA 3rd Baseman #33

Mariners manager Dan Wilson confirmed Brendan Donovan (groin) is on track to return from the injured list later this week.

Donovan hit the shelf with a relatively minor groin strain last week and could be activated for Friday’s series opener against the Royals once Seattle returns home from their current road trip. The 29-year-old infielder was off to an excellent start in his Mariners debut, hitting .304/.437/.518 with three homers, eight RBI and one steal through 18 games.

Hunter Barco

PIT Starting Pitcher #45

Pirates recalled LHP Hunter Barco from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Barco provides Pittsburgh with some additional length out in relief following Monday’s bullpen game against the Cardinals. The 25-year-old southpaw was hit hard in four relief outings earlier this season, but continues to dominate at the Triple-A level. He’s an interesting prospect to keep on radar screens, but he he can safely ignored in all fantasy formats for now.

Wilber Dotel

PIT Relief Pitcher #66

Pirates optioned RHP Wilber Dotel to Triple-A Indianapolis.

This certainly qualifies as a surprise after Dotel spun four perfect innings during a bulk relief appearance against the Cardinals on Monday. The 23-year-old rookie has vastly outperformed expectations with a microscopic 1.35 ERA and 4/3 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings over three appearances this season. He’ll presumably be back at some point in a couple weeks when the Pirates need some long relief depth.

Junior Caminero

TB 3rd Baseman #13
Junior Caminero left Tuesday’s game against the Guardians with a trainer.

Caminero left the contest shortly after fouling a ball off home plate that bounced up and struck him on the right side of the face. He managed to stay in to complete the at-bat, but immediately went down the tunnel with a trainer afterwards and was replaced at third base by Richie Palacios. He finished 0-for-1. The 22-year-old superstar will head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status following the contest.

Shohei Ohtani

LAD Starting Pitcher #17
Shohei Ohtani is pitching on Tuesday against the Marlins, but is not in the lineup at DH.

As expected, Ohtani will pitch exclusively on Tuesday evening at Dodger Stadium. Dalton Rushing is at DH and will occupy the leadoff spot in his absence. The 31-year-old two-way superstar’s workload is being monitored closely during the early stages of the season to avoid putting too much strain on him from a physical standpoint. He should be back in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon’s series finale.

Zac Gallen

AZ Starting Pitcher #23

Zac Gallen (shoulder) is expected to make his next start on Friday against the Cubs.

Gallen is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday to confirm that he’s ready to roll, but all signs point to him taking the ball at Wrigley Field later this week. The 30-year-old left Saturday’s start against the Padres down in Mexico City with a shoulder contusion after being hit by a comebacker.

Jackson Jobe

Jobe made it through his first bullpen session since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June. The 23-year-old former top pitching prospect is expected to return to Detroit’s rotation at some point in the second half.
