Jansen was tasked with facing the heart of the Reds’ lineup with a one-run lead to protect in the ninth inning of this one. He dispatched of Elly De La Cruz on a fly ball to left and Sal Stewart on strikes before allowing a two-out single to Spencer Steer that put the tying run on base. He then got ahead of Nathaniel Lowe 0-1 before Lowe crushed a sinker for a walk-off home run. Jansen has converted six of his first eight save chances on the season while posting a respectable 3.68 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 9/3 K/BB ratio over 7 1/3 innings.

There’s still no clear timeline for a potential return for the 26-year-old southpaw, but it’s at least encouraging that he is throwing the ball again. Expect the Red Sox to take every possible precaution here as they ramp him back up.

The 23-year-old will make his big league debut on Sunday afternoon against the Yankees. Gibson has registered a 4.01 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and a 25/12 K/BB ratio across 24 2/3 innings in six starts at the Triple-A level this season. He draws a very difficult first assignment having to battle the Yankees in New York, which is why he isn’t a recommended streaming option.

If you’re going to have to take a day off at some point, doing so against Max Fried isn’t the worst idea. Henderson has struggled at the plate so far this season, slashing just .209/.275/.460 to go along with nine homers, 19 RBI and five stolen bases across his first 153 plate appearances. Blaze Alexander will start in his place at shortstop and bat ninth for the O’s on Sunday.

The right-hander hit triple digits with his fastball during the session, which led to speculation that he may not need a minor league rehab assignment before rejoining the Phillies’ bullpen. It sounds like he could be ready to be activated at some point next week.

Lodolo made it through Saturday’s rehab start at Triple-A Louisville without any issues, giving up two runs on five hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work while racking up six strikeouts. He threw 79 pitches in the outing (45 strikes) and shouldn’t have any workload limitations upon his return.

The 23-year-old right-hander has had mixed results in his six starts at the Triple-A level this season, compiling a 4.38 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 29/11 K/BB ratio across 24 2/3 innings. It’s likely to just be a one-and-done situation for Petty as Nick Lodolo (blister) is slated to rejoin the Reds’ rotation on Friday.

The dynamic 22-year-old fouled a ball off of his foot during a minor league rehab game at Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Fortunately, he was able to avoid any significant injury. They’ll wait and see how he feels and progresses on Sunday before making a determination on whether or not he’ll be activated from the injured list for Sunday’s series opener against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

The Cubs needed to clear a spot in their bullpen for the return of Daniel Palencia on Sunday and it looks like Rios pulled the short straw this time. The 32-year-old hurler appeared in just one game during his time with the club, striking out two batters over 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. It’s possible he could pique another team’s interest on waivers.

The Cubs’ bullpen has been decimated by injuries, so getting their closer back should go a long way towards stabilizing things at the back end. Before landing on the injured list with a lat strain, the 26-year-old flame-thrower had fired five scoreless innings with a 1.00 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio while converting his lone save chance.

The Astros needed to clear a spot on their active roster for the return of Ryan Weiss on Sunday and unfortunately Murray was the odd man out this time around. The 29-year-old right-hander holds a 6.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 5/5 K/BB ratio over six innings in four appearances with the Astros this season.
