George Kirby picked up his fourth victory of the season on Friday night, holding the Cardinals to two runs on five hits across his six frames.
Kirby struck out two batters on the night while issuing one free pass. All of the damage done against him came on a two-out, two-run single off the bat of Masyn Winn in the fourth inning. The 28-year-old hurler got 11 whiffs on 81 pitches on the night — six of them on his slider — while posting a CSW of 28 percent. He now sports a terrific 2.97 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 29/9 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings through his first 39 1/3 innings. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Wednesday.

Christian Scott will have his next start pushed back to Thursday against the Cardinals.
It sounds like the Mets want to give Scott some extra rest before he takes the ball again during Thursday’s series finale. The 26-year-old was excellent his last time out, holding San Diego scoreless over 5 2/3 innings. It’ll be Austin Warren kicking off a bullpen game against St. Louis on Wednesday.
Soderstrom 'turning the corner' amid hot streak
Tyler Soderstrom's two-HR day was just the latest sign that the Athletics' slugger is in the middle of a hot streak. Eric Samulski says fantasy managers should expect the ball to "fly off his bat" as summer rolls on.
  • BAL Catcher #35
Orioles manager Craig Albernaz told reporters Adley Rutschman is day-to-day with left hamstring tightness.
Rutschman sat out his second consecutive contest on Tuesday night. It doesn’t sound like a potential injured list situation at the moment, but the Orioles can’t really afford to take any chances with Samuel Basallo playing through a wrist injury. Sam Huff has handled the catching duties in back-to-back games. There should be some additional clarity on his status heading into the final two games of the clubs’ current series against Seattle.
  • KC Right Fielder #14
Jac Caglianone homered twice and drove in three runs to help the Royals to a 5-3 win over the Rangers on Tuesday.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #56
Alex Lange fired a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts and picked up a save against the Rangers on Tuesday.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #17
Nathan Eovaldi went 5 2/3 innings while allowing four runs and picking up a loss Tuesday to the Royals.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #32
Stephen Kolek worked five innings and allowed two runs — one earned — while picking up a win over the Rangers on Tuesday.
Kolek was away from the team for a couple of days due to a family medical emergency, and it was a solid — if unspectacular — outing for the 29-year-old. He was a bit fortunate to only give up the two runs, as he gave up eight hits and a walk while striking out three. Still, the results were once again solid, and Kolek now has a 3.14 ERA and 30/9 K/BB over his seven starts with the Royals in 2026. He’ll be back on the mound Sunday in a matchup against the Astros.
  • KC Center Fielder #28
Kyle Isbel was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Rangers with a left foot plantar fascia injury.
Isbel was 1-for-2 with a walk before being replaced by pinch-runner Tyler Tolbert in the seventh inning.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Ronald Acuña Jr. was removed from Tuesday’s game against the White Sox with left hamstring tightness.
It’s a somewhat encouraging update after Acuña came up limping following an attempt to beat out a fourth-inning chopper up the third-base line. The 28-year-old fantasy superstar will presumably undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue and whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list. A definitive update on his status should arrive prior to Wednesday’s showdown in Chicago. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Tuesday, leading the Dodgers to a blowout win over the Pirates.
Freeman collected the 2,500th hit of his career with a run-scoring single to center field, doing so during the Dodgers’ 10-run seventh inning in which 15 batters came to the plate. The 36-year-old first baseman is the majors’ active leader in hits and the first to reach the milestone since Robinson Canó in 2019. He’s in the middle of an extended hot streak at the dish, batting .345 (20-for-58) with four homers and 13 RBI over his last 15 games.
  • PIT Left Fielder #10
Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.
Reynolds went deep for the first time since May 29. He also doubled against lefty reliever Tanner Scott with the Pirates trailing by 10 runs in the ninth inning. The 31-year-old has been ice-cold at the plate since the calendar flipped to June, going 4-for-26 over his last seven games.
