Luis Rengifo is on the bench on Wednesday against the Cardinals.

David Hamilton will start at third base, with Joey Ortiz back in the lineup at shortstop. Despite playing regularly, Rengifo has struggled this season with the Brewers, and both he and Ortiz remain off fantasy radars.

Kevin McGonigle was named to the American League All-Star team.

McGonigle is one of two rookie infielders who made the roster with Travis Bazzana of the Guardians also making the team. They’ll be joined by catchers Dillon Dingler and Adley Rutschman; first baseman Ben Rice and Nick Kurtz; third baseman Miguel Vargas and outfielders Randy Arozarena Cody Bellinger and Riley Greene along with designated hitter Yandy Diaz.

Mike Trout was voted as a starting outfielder for the American League All-Star team.

Trout is currently on the injured list, but is expected to be activated prior to the event in Philadelphia; a city that fans know holds a special place in the 34-year-old’s heart. Aaron Judge was also voted a starter, but won’t be available due to his injury, with Byron Buxton the third outfielder. They’ll be joined by 3B Junior Caminero, SS Bobby Witt Jr., 2B Ernie Clement, 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., DH Yordan Alvarez and Shea Langeliers the starting catcher.

Juan Soto was named as one of the starters for the National League All-Star team.

Unsurprisingly, Soto was voted into the starting group even with the Mets having a disappointing 2026 campaign. He’ll be joined in the outfield by Andy Pages and Brandon Marsh. The infield will include 3B Max Muncy, SS C.J. Abrams, 2B Ozzie Albies and 1B Freddie Freeman, with Drake Baldwin elected the starting catcher and Shohei Ohtani the designated hitter.

Jackson Chourio is not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Diamondbacks.

It appears to just be a day of maintenance for Chourio, and it’ll be his first day off since the start of June. The 22-year-old gets a break with Jake Bauers earning a nod in left field for Saturday’s contest.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that the team is “hopeful” Shohei Ohtani (biceps) will return to the lineup against the Padres on Sunday.

Roberts said that Ohani is feeling “considerably better” after dealing with biceps discomfort that will keep him out of Saturday’s game against San Diego. There’s even a chance Ohtani could be available off the bench, but Roberts said he would need to see how the rest of the day goes. Even if he doesn’t return to the lineup this weekend, it does appear that this is mostly precautionary. It still remains to be seen if he’ll make another start as a pitcher before the All-Star break, however.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Evan Phillips (elbow) will come off the 60-day injured list before Sunday’s game against the Padres.

Phillips has missed all of 2026 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 31-year-old will likely be eased into work after missing the first three months of the campaign, but should be a high-leverage option in the second half of 2026. Just keep in mind that save chances won’t be guaranteed.

Cubs designated RHP Bryse Wilson for assignment.

The Cubs need room on the active and 40-man roster, so Wilson is out to clear space for Jake Woodford. Wilson will hit the waiver wire, and teams could show interest in the 28-year-old as a potential multi-inning relief option.

Cubs signed RHP Jake Woodford to a one-year contract.

Woodford opted out of his deal with the Brewers earlier in the month, and the 29-year-old finds an MLB deal not long after. He’ll get a chance to help the Cubs’ pitching staff as a potential multi-inning bullpen option in the middle frames.

Rockies placed RHP Seth Halvorsen on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

Halvorsen will be out of action until at least the All-Star break because of the ailment. The 26-year-old’s spot in the bullpen will be filled by Jordan Romano.

Rockies selected the contract of RHP Jordan Romano from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Romano will get a chance to make his debut with the Rockies after signing with the club a month ago on a minor-league pact. The 33-year-old was once one of the better closers in baseball, but he’s been ineffective to put it mildly over the last few seasons. Even if he somehow earned some save chances, fantasy managers should look elsewhere.
