Orioles optioned RHP Cameron Weston to Triple-A Norfolk.

The 25-year-old hurler was promoted from Triple-A prior to Thursday’s game. He made his big league debut in that contest, striking out one batter in his scoreless inning of work. Weston should get another opportunity with the O’s before the summer is through.

Cole Young is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Phillies.

It seems like a routine day off for Young, who has gone 16-for-84 (.190) in August with two home runs, 10 runs scored, and a 14/6 K/BB ratio. Brock Rodden will start at second base and bat ninth, and Weston Wilson will play third base and hit seventh against lefty Jesus Luzardo.

MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy reports that the Brewers will “stay with the six-man rotation for the next series against the Rangers.”

McCalvy does suggest this could simply be to line things up for the next series in Wrigley Field against the Cubs and might not be a long-term strategy. However, it does mean that Logan Henderson, Shane Drohan, and Robert Gasser will start, in that order, against the Rangers this weekend.

Marquee Sports’ Taylor McGregor reports that Ben Brown (neck) “is experiencing symptoms again after his outing yesterday.”

Brown threw in a complex league game on Tuesday, and apparently the stress reaction in his neck didn’t respond well. According to McGregor, Brown is planning to fly with the team back to Chicago and consult with doctors to determine what’s next. It sounds like his 2026 season could be over.

Jung Hoo Lee (elbow) was scratched from the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Reds.

The Giants will start Logan Webb on Wednesday against the Reds.

With the Giants hoping for their first sweep of the season, they will turn to their ace on Wednesday. That means he will be flipped with Landen Roupp, who will now start on Thursday against the Diamondbacks. Webb last pitched on Friday against the Red Sox, so he will be on just four days’ rest, but he also only threw 2 2/3 innings in that outing.

Roman Anthony (finger/wrist) is starting in left field for Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Anthony had mentioned on Tuesday that the plan was for him to play nine innings in the outfield on Wednesday. If he can do that today, he could be active on Friday for the beginning of the series against the Yankees in New York. The former top prospect in baseball hasn’t played in an MLB game since May 4th and would be a major boost to this Red Sox lineup.

Fansided’s Robert Murray reports that Austin Slater has opted out of his minor league deal with the Rays.

Slater was hitting .305/.407/.453 in 35 games in Triple-A and is looking to find another MLB opportunity. The 33-year-old can still be an asset against left-handed pitching for any team that might have an option bench spot.
