Ha-Seong Kim is at shortstop and hitting eighth on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Kim is starting at shortstop for the second time in the last three games after sitting out for an extended stretch last week. Jorge Mateo seems to be getting a real chance to play everyday with Kim shifting into more of a bench role recently. He’s hit just .089 (4-for-45) with two RBI and one steal in 13 games since making his Atlanta debut last month.

Athletics optioned RHP Yunior Tor to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Tor threw two innings and allowed three runs during Tuesday’s contest, so he’ll get the demotion to Triple-A to provide some fresh relief help. There’s a good chance Tor is up before the year ends.

Athletics recalled RHP Hayden Juenger from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Juenger will hope to make a better impression than his previous MLB action in 2026, as he’s given up nine runs in his 11 1/3 innings with the A’s thus far. He takes the roster spot of José Suarez, with Suarez placed on the IL due to a hip strain.

Jose Altuve (foot) is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Giants.

Altuve was diagnosed with a left foot contusion after leaving Tuesday, and the ailment will keep the 36-year-old out for at least one game. Nick Allen will handle second base while Altuve recovers.

Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is leading off and playing shortstop against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Perdomo sat Tuesday’s game against the Rockies while recovering from knee soreness, but the 26-year-old is good to go for the series finale against the Rockies with Ildemaro Vargas retreating to the bench in return.

Red Sox designated RHP Seth Martinez for assignment.

Martinez was up for less than a week and allowed a run in his only appearance with the Red Sox. He’ll get the boot from the roster with Alec Gamboa coming up to provide a fresh arm. Martinez can either report back to Triple-A if he goes unclaimed, or elect free agency.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Brewers.

It appears to just be a rare day of rest for Tatis. The 27-year-old will sit for the series finale against the Brew Crew, and Austin Hays will handle right field and hit sixth in his absence.

Jacob Wilson is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s bout against the Rays.

Wilson will get a day off as the team continues to give him some rest to manage his patellar tendonitis in his right knee. The 24-year-old will sit with Donovan Walton leading off and handling shortstop duties.
