Ben Rice hit his 20th homer and walked twice Tuesday against the White Sox.

Rice and Paul Goldschmidt both homered in the fourth, giving the Yankees a total of 30 homers from what they were looking at as a first base platoon initially. Of course, both are full-timers right now, but it’s easy to forget that Rice was on the bench for three of the Yankees’ first four games versus lefties during the first couple of weeks. Rice became the eighth player to reach 20 homers this season. He’s third in the majors with his 1.006 OPS.

Javier Sanoja went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and three RBI as the Marlins bested the Rockies 10-7 on Monday.

The triple, which gave him all three of his runs batted in, was a grounder down the right field line that Troy Johnston wasn’t especially quick to get to. It was Sanoja’s first triple of the year. He drove in more runs with that one hit than he had while batting .227/.239/.295 with two RBI in his previous 16 games.

Sandy Alcantara won despite allowing five runs and walking five in 5 2/3 innings Monday against the Rockies.

There could have been more runs, but Alcantara benefitted from Hunter Goodman getting caught stealing home in the third, a line drive double play in the fourth and then Michael Petersen stranding two runners after replacing him in the sixth. The win makes Alcantara a perfect 6-0 in June, even though his 3.35 ERA was more good than great. Back in 2021, he had a season in which he posted a 3.19 ERA in 33 starts and wound up 9-15. Alcantara will go from Coors Field tonight to perhaps the game’s next friendliest ballpark for hitters in Sacramento in his start Saturday against the A’s.

Sean Sullivan yielded five runs in 4 2/3 innings Monday in his start versus the Marlins.

Sullivan has made four starts for the Rockies with an 8.64 ERA. At least he struck out five in this one after entering the night with seven strikeouts in 12 innings. One would think he’d be a leading candidate to be demoted with Tanner Gordon returning Tuesday.

Antonio Senzatela gave up four runs while getting just two outs Monday against the Marlins.

Senzaltela entered with the Rockies down 6-5 to start the seventh and exited with the score 10-5. It seems like the Rockies really missed the boat by not making him the first veteran traded this season. He’s given up 11 earned runs in his last 12 innings, taking his ERA from 1.13 to 3.07.

Edouard Julien went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks versus the Marlins on Monday.

Julien had an .839 OPS through the end of April, a .270 OPS while going 5-for-61 with no extra-base hits in May and now is at .797 in June. Statcast actually thinks he’s been terribly unlucky; with the best EV numbers of his career, including a 51 percent hard-hit rate, he entered tonight with a .410 xSLG versus an actual mark of .298. Still, he’s yet to do enough to suggest he needs to be a lineup fixture down the stretch or a member of the Rockies’ 2027 roster.

Byron Buxton is day-to-day with a right hip impingement.

Twins manager Derek Shelton told reporters that Buxton underwent an MRI after sitting out Monday’s series opener against the Astros, which revealed the issue. The 32-year-old fantasy stalwart could still wind up on the injured list, but it sounds like he’ll attempt to play through it for now. There should be additional clarity on his status in the coming days.

Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and two RBI against the Padres on Monday.

In a game tied 2-2, the Cubs started the bottom of the ninth with two singles before the Padres brought in Mason Miller. Alex Bregman singled to load the bases before a double play put the Padres an out away from forcing extra innings. Seiya Suzuki had other ideas as he hit a fly ball to left field that Jase Bowen couldn’t catch up against the ivy. Suzuki’s RBI single put the exclamation point on the Cubs’ walk-off win. He’s hitting.266 with a .799 OPS and 39 RBI this year.

Griffin Canning allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.

Canning gave up five hits, walked two and struck out three. After he recorded just two outs in his last start, the Padres couldn’t have asked Canning for much more against the Cubs on Monday. He has a 7.09 ERA after all. Canning is lined up to face the Dodgers on the road this weekend. He can be safely ignored in fantasy leagues at this point in his career.

Shota Imanaga allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Cubs’ 3-2 victory over the Padres on Monday.

Imanaga gave up nine hits, walked none and struck out four. The 32-year-old left-hander was pulled after getting the first out of the seventh inning and throwing 97 pitches. He’s earned the win in just one of his last nine starts. Imanaga’s ERA is 4.30. He’s lined up to face the Cardinals at home this weekend.

Tyler Glasnow (back) has been cleared to start a throwing progression.

The Dodgers are going to take an extremely cautious approach with Glasnow’s ramp-up to avoid any potential setbacks. The 32-year-old will be out through next month’s All-Star break and appears unlikely to make it back until some point in August. He’s been out with a lingering back issue since early May.
