Report: Pats RB Larison an early favorite for RB3

The injury has sidelined Henderson since August 24. The Patriots face the Seahawks on Wednesday. At this point, Henderson must be considered questionable to play. Even if he were active, he would be slated for No. 2 duties behind starting RB Rhamondre Stevenson, and it is fair to wonder if the team would keep Henderson on a snap count. Reiss reported this morning that RB Lan Larison and/or RB Hassan Haskins would likely be elevated from the practice squad if Henderson cannot play, joining Stevenson and backup RB Corey Kiner on game day.

New England drafted Miller in the seventh round this year. Per CBS’s Matt Zenitz, Miller was on track to lock up the Pats’ RB3 job before suffering a minor injury late in camp. The team then traded for Cardinals running back Corey Kiner, spelling the end of Miller’s time in New England. He’s a candidate to return on the team’s practice squad.

Miller (5’10”/209) spent his entire four-year career with the Crimson Tide but didn’t step into a starting role until 2024. His first season as a starter proved to be his best, as Miller rushed for career-highs in attempts (146), rushing yards (676), and touchdowns (seven), while adding another 16-155-1 through the air. Miller saw those numbers drop in 2025, as his rushing line (130-504-3) left much to be desired. His 3.9 YPC ranked dead last among SEC running backs in 2025 (min. 100 carries), while his 2.45 yards after contact ranked 20th of 21 backs, per TruMedia. Miller doesn’t break tackles at a high rate and doesn’t create much on the ground after contact. He’s far from the high-end RB talent we’re accustomed to seeing come out of Alabama, and struggles both as a pass-blocker and a run-blocker, which will likely limit him to an early-down role if he ever sees the field. His best case for sticking on a roster will come on special teams. Miller appeared on 195 special teams snaps in 2023, per PFF, playing on both coverage and return units.

Miller (5'10/185) took his official visit to Texas this past weekend, and he apparently liked what he saw. The Tyler (Texas) Legacy rising senior also held offers from programs such as Alabama, Texas A&M and USC, but his lone official visit was to the “40 Acres.” Miller doesn’t lack for speed, as he ran the 100-meter dash in 10.71 seconds as a junior. Texas now has 12 verbal commits in the Class of 2022 recruiting cycle, with Miller becoming the second running back. Four-star back Jaydon Blue, also an in-state prospect, made his pledge back in February.
