Falcons signed G Matthew Bergeron to a four-year, $96 million contract extension.

Bergeron was entering the final year of his rookie contract and was paid like a top-10 guard here. This has been a busy offseason for the Falcons and they haven’t even gotten to Bijan Robinson yet. Bergeron should remain a fixture on the interior line for the Falcons over the short-term future.

Lindstrom and fellow offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron (ankle) were questionable heading into the weekend. Both are active, as is EDGE Leonard Floyd. The Falcons declared WR Drake London, RB Nathan Carter, ILB Josh Woods, OL Michael Jerrell, WR Casey Washington, DL Elijah Garcia, and DL Khalid Kareem inactive for Week 12 against the Saints.

So is Matthew Bergeron (ankle), who has missed the last two weeks with this ankle injury. Lindstrom is almost certain to go, but continues to be listed as questionable as they manage his injury. Bergeron is more of a true question mark.
  • ATL Guard #63
Lindstrom practiced for the first time all week on Friday while dealing with a painful foot injury that he’s been managing through the last few weeks. He’ll probably attempt to give it a go against the Panthers on Sunday. The Falcons ruled out fellow guard Matthew Bergeron (ankle) for the second week in a row. Bergeron was replaced by Kyle Hinton last week in Germany.
  • ATL Offensive Lineman #65
Bergeron and pass rusher Leonard Floyd (hamstring) will both be sidelined for Sunday’s game against the Colts in Germany. The Falcons will be down at least two starers along the OL with Bergeron out and RT Kaleb McGary being sidelined since training camp due to a season-ending knee injury. Andrew Steuber is listed behind Bergeron on the team’s depth chart and will likely draw the start against the Colts.
  • ATL Defensive End #56
Floyd ties for a team-high 19 quarterback pressures, with two sacks to boot. He also has just two tackles, but remains an impactful pass rusher nonetheless. The Falcons were also without LG Matthew Bergeron (ankle) on Thursday. They play the Colts overseas in Week 10.

The move cost Atlanta the 110th overall pick. Bergeron (6’5/318) helped pave the way for Sean Tucker’s illustrious school-record-setting career in his 39 starts for the Orange over four years. Named to the honor roll every semester of college, he also finished with All-ACC honors his final two years. In 2022, he allowed 5 sacks, 4 QB hits, and 3 hurries but only drew three flags over his 686 snaps all year, which is considerably down from the 19 penalties he accrued across his previous two campaigns. Despite a penchant for penalties, he earned PFF pass blocking grades of 80.8 and 85.4 over the past two seasons. The Canadian lineman has had plenty of experience leading the way for a workhorse running back in Sean Tucker. Bergeron is a credible run-blocking lineman with good vertical movement and an understanding of play and body leverage at the point of attack. His versatility will be a plus for Atlanta. He was announced as a guard but can obviously play tackle and got reps on both sides of the ball in college.

Titans RB Tyjae Spears (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.

Spears and starting RB Tony Pollard were both sidelined by ankle injuries today. If the two players are unable to go, rookie RB Nicholas Singleton is the next player up. He is worth stashing on fantasy football benches at this time.

Jaylen Warren (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Warren got a little banged up in the Steelers’ Week 2 loss to the Patriots, but he’s still the team’s healthiest running back of note. Rico Dowdle was in a boot today after injuring his toe in Week 2. He was listed as a DNP and appears to be on the wrong side of questionable to start the week. Even at less than full strength, Warren would likely handle the bulk of the backfield snaps if Dowdle can’t go.

Jonathan Allen (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

Fellow defensive tackle B.J. Hill (Achilles) was also held out of practice. He missed Week 2 and looks likely to sit for at least one more game. Cincy signed Allen to a two-year deal in the offseason. He has already made a big impact with one sack in each of his first two games.

Titans RB Tony Pollard (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.

We were told earlier today that Pollard and Spears are “dealing with some soreness.” Now we know what ails them. The Titans field an unexciting offense, but on the off chance that both Pollard and Spears are unable to play, rookie RB Nicholas Singleton would theoretically be in line for a sizable workload against the Giants this week. Stay tuned.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Giants EDGE Brian Burns (ankle) “is not expected to need surgery but is likely to miss some time.”

Burns, 28, has had poor injury luck in recent seasons. He currently accounts for three quarterback pressures and three tackles. The Giants field a deep pass-rushing unit, though, so their D/ST should be okay against the Titans in Week 3.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Zach Charbonnet will not return to practice this week.

Charbonnet still has to sit out two more games while on the PUP list, but he’s eligible to have his three-week practice window opened. That won’t happen this week, though it doesn’t give us much info on his return timeline. Macdonald previously said Charbonnet remained on track with his aggressive timetable, which is, again, rather vague. Fantasy managers with an IR spot can consider stashing Charbonnet, but he’s not worth the roster spot otherwise.

Jets EDGE David Bailey (groin) is practicing in full for Week 3 against the Lions.

Bailey should be good to go for Week 3. Fellow Jets EDGE Joseph Ossai (foot) is limited to begin the week, and S Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin) remains sidelined. The Lions’ offensive line is banged up. Having both pass rushers available would be helpful.

Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) was removed from the injury report for Week 3 against the Packers.

Tagovailoa joins a jumbled Falcons backup quarterback group for Thursday Night Football. He does not need to be rostered in 12-team leagues. The Falcons will start QB Michael Penix (knee).

ESPN’s Mike Kaye reports Austin Ekeler is not expected to sign with the Panthers today.

Ekeler worked out for the Panthers today. Kaye noted that the workout went well, so it’s possible Ekeler lands with the team in the future. With Jonathon Brooks (groin) on injured reserve, the Panthers need to make an addition or two at running back, even just for some extra depth. Regardless of who they sign, Chuba Hubbard is set for a workhorse role for the foreseeable future.

49ers placed DT CJ West on injured reserve with a knee injury.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said West suffered a bone chip in his knee. The injury will require surgery. He is expected to return this season. The 49ers correspondingly signed DT Naquan Jones to the active roster and DT Viliami Fehoko to the practice squad, and released CB Jakob Robinson.
