NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Falcons EDGE Jalon Walker (knee) is feared to have torn his ACL.

Walker will have an MRI to confirm, but this is a brutal runout for a Falcons pass rusher unit that already had plenty of question marks. The second-year player was carted off after suffering the injury earlier today.
Miami 'paying for the mistakes' of previous regime
In the thick of one of the "biggest ground-up rebuilds" in NFL history, the Miami Dolphins have several areas to look when assessing their 0-4 start to begin the 2026 season.

The second-year linebacker will be sidelined for the entirety of the 2026 campaign after suffering an ACL tear in training camp this week. Walker was carted off the practice field and later diagnosed with the torn ACL. The 15th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Walker last year had 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. His absence will be a blow to an otherwise solid Atlanta defense.
  • ATL Outside Linebacker #11
It’s too early to know for sure, of course, but the scene around the injury was not good. He was carted off with his face in his palm, his teammates were all taking knees around him, and the coaching staff concluded the practice after the play. It certainly has all the things you’d associate with a long-term injury.
  • ATL Quarterback #9
Penix practiced in the days leading up to Week 8’s game against the Dolphins but was ultimately ruled out in favor of Kirk Cousins. The second-year quarterback is one of several Falcons players who are day-to-day to start the week, as Morris also said S Jessie Bates (ankle), DL Zach Harrison (knee), CB Billy Bowman (hamstring), and EDGE Jalon Walker (groin) would also be day-to-day to open the week. Penix appears to be trending in the right direction but if he’s unable to go, Cousins would again draw the start on the road against the Patriots.
  • Falcons rookie slot DB Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring) and LB Divine Deablo (forearm) have also been ruled out. None of the three practiced this week. On the plus side, LT Jake Matthews (ankle) will play. The defensive injuries soften up the Falcons’ interior, which benefits Dolphins RB De’Von Achane.
  • Falcons rookie DB Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring) will also be out this week. Losing two standout rookies for a bout with the 49ers’ efficient passing attack is unfortunate, but the Falcons’ defense as a whole has played well this year. Walker has totaled nine tackles, eight quarterback pressures and one sack. Bowman boasts 13 tackles, one pass breakup and one interception.
  • ATL EDGE #11
Per ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, Walker “missed the 11-on-11 portion of practice Thursday and missed the previous two practices.” Raimondi did not clarify whether Walker was able to return for individual drills. Walker has plenty of time to recover and ramp up for the regular season. Hopefully, he returns in time for preseason play.
  • The team’s official website estimates the deal will be worth $20.56 million, based on numbers provided by Over The Cap. The Falcons have also officially listed Walker, who lined up as a hybrid linebacker/EDGE at Georgia, as an EDGE on their roster. Walker is expected to serve as a defensive cornerstone for the foreseeable future and is expected to add hybrid linebacker duties to his job scope soon enough.
  • ATL Linebacker
Walker (6’1/243) hails from a football family, with his father being a former D2 All-American and well-regarded high school football coach and his brother being a DB at Georgia State. He led the Bulldogs with 5.0 sacks with 26 pressures in 2023 despite serving as a rotational player who logged just 126 pass rush reps. Walker finally got a chance to start last year and made the most of his opportunity as a hybrid linebacker/edge, producing 60 tackles while leading the Dawgs with 10.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks and a 17.2 percent pass rush win percentage. The Third-Team AP All-American was also adorned with the coveted Butkus Award given to the nation’s top linebacker. A twitchy athlete with sudden explosiveness and enough power to crack and stonewall pulling linemen, Walker hones in on ballcarriers like a lion in the Serengeti. However, he’s also a cerebral, savvy player who takes good pursuit lines and is always in the right position. On the pass rush, he posted incredible 45 percent-plus win percentages with his overarm move, inside counter, and a ferocious bull rush. The big issue with Walker is his tweener proportions make him ill-suited for full-time edge work, and off-ball linebackers don’t have the same devastating effect on opposing game plans. Regardless, Walker is a premium talent whose versatility and high football character make him a safe and projectable talent.
  • CAR Front Office
The Panthers (pick No. 8) have regularly been linked to Georgia LB Jalon Walker. The Buccaneers enter the draft with just six picks and could reasonably trade back from No. 19 in order to add one or two Day 2 selections. Seahawks GM John Schneider’s penchant for trading back has aggravated fans for years, and the team has glaring needs along the offensive line. Rapoport casts a wide net with his list, but his inclusion of these three teams is worth tracking as the draft gets underway.
  • FA Wide Receiver
The two players have reportedly “won the interview process” with their character and talent. Schrager adds that “you will not find a coach or general manager who doesn’t just rave about both young men.” Egbuka was a three-year starter at Ohio State and averaged 2.61 yards per route run over the course of his college career. Walker played a multifaceted role in Georgia’s defense, lining up as an edge rusher and inside linebacker. He led his team with 28 quarterback pressures and a 17.2 percent pass-rush win rate this year.

Jonathan Greenard (ankle) was not seen at Wednesday’s practice.

Greenard is reportedly considered day-to-day after suffering an ankle injury in Week 4. A DNP would put him on the wrong side of questionable for Week 5. Safety Marcus Epps was also absent from practice. He suffered a groin injury in practice last week and did not suit up on Sunday. He will likely miss this week’s contest as wel.

ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reports that Michael Pittman (foot) was in “the locker room with his left foot propped up on a scooter.”

Pittman has been playing through a foot injury this season and was seen participating in team stretches earlier today. Although the scooter use is alarming, this is likely just load management. Pittman is a boom-bust FLEX against the Colts this weekend.

Saquon Barkley (hamstring) was not present at Wednesday’s practice.

The Eagles will drop their official injury report later today, but this can be chalked up as a DNP for Barkley. He was already considered week-to-week after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday, so today’s DNP doesn’t come as a surprise. He is a long-shot to play in Week 5. With Tank Bigsby on IR, Will Shipley will lead the backfield versus Jacksonville. He profiles as a low-end RB3.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said LT Christian Darrisaw (concussion) will not practice on Wednesday.

O’Connell also said that RT Brian O’Neill (undisclosed) will be limited. The Vikings recently placed LG Donovan Jackson (knee) on injured reserve. The offensive line is very banged up at the moment.

Zack Baun (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday.

Baun entered the league’s concussion protocol last week and was unable to practice at all. His return means he is making progress through the protocol and should be able to play in Week 5. On the other hand, fellow lineback Jihaad Campbell is not expected to practice with an unknown injury. It’s still a net positive injury report for Philly, but far from ideal.

Dallas Goedert (knee) returned to practice Wednesday.

It’s Goedert’s first practice since going down with a knee injury in Week 2. Even a limited session today puts him on track to suit up for Philly’s Week 5 game against the Jags. With DeVonta Smith (hamstring) unlikely to play, Goedert could be in line for a large role right away. He will be on the TE1/2 border for Week 5 if he is cleared for action.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said Jordan Addison (hamstring) will not practice on Wednesday.

According to O’Connell, Addison has “a little hamstring soreness,” though it is “considered minor.” Keep an eye on this. Hamstring injuries can quickly become problematic at the wide receiver position. If active and practicing fully by the end of the week, Addison will be a WR3/FLEX against the Saints.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said Justin Jefferson (ankle) will be limited on Wednesday.

This is a good sign. Jefferson is tentatively on track to play in Week 5 against the Saints. Ideally, he will upgrade to full participation tomorrow, though. O’Connell told reporters last week that his No. 1 wide receiver had made “great progress” in his rehab program. That indeed appears to be the case. He will be a WR1 if active.

Keenan Allen (groin) resumed practicing on Wednesday.

Allen suffered a groin injury in practice last week and was unable to play in Week 4 against the Commanders. His early-week return puts him on track to play in Week 5 against the Steelers, but he can likely only be viewed as a touchdown-dependent FLEX at this time.

Chris Brooks (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

Brooks suffered the ankle injury in Week 4. He went down in the first half and did not return. Brooks underwent testing on his ankle after the game, though the exact nature of his injury has yet to be reported. He does appear to be on the wrong side of questionable for Week 5. If he can’t go, MarShawn Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson will split the backfield. Johnson led the team in carries last week but also gave up a goal line fumble. We expect Lloyd to get the start versus Chicago on Sunday.
