Lions WR Jameson Williams (shoulder) resumed practicing on Wednesday.

Williams missed the Lions’ last two practices with what coach Dan Campbell described as a minor shoulder injury. Today’s practice was padless. We should learn more about Williams’ status when the pads go back on. Regardless, Williams seemingly remains a safe WR2/3 candidate right now.

The Lions are retaining “all” of last year’s play-calling verbiage, and “it was on Drew Petzing to learn the offense,” not the other way around. Goff apparently “had as much of a hand in getting Petzing familiar with the offense as the offensive staff did.” Mays believes these developments speak to the command, agency and autonomy that Goff possesses at this stage in his career. We agree. For those who were concerned about the Lions scrapping the tactics that coach Dan Campbell employed as the Lions’ play caller in Weeks 10-18 last year, it sounds like those concepts aren’t going anywhere. Will Petzing be allowed to add his own elements to that playbook? Yes, we assume so. At the end of the day, this year’s offense could look a lot like last year’s fantasy-friendly unit, though. Draft accordingly.

Williams was notably absent from practice on Sunday and also missed Monday’s practice. He’s dealing with a minor shoulder injury, according to Campbell. Williams was spotted at Monday’s practice helping receivers go through a drill without a brace or a sling on his shoulder. Despite missing two practices so far, Campbell said Williams is “good to go.” While the coach said a significant amount of starters will play in the Lions second preseason game on Saturday, it’s unclear and potentially unlikely that Williams will be one of them at this point.

As has been the case in most weeks this season, Jamo finished second on the team in targets behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, highlighting his status as one of the highest upside WR2s in fantasy circles. He ends 2025 with 1,117 yards on 65 receptions, both of which are career highs, matching the seven touchdowns he scored a season ago. His role in the offense really took off after head coach Dan Campbell started calling offensive plays, making it a situation to monitor this offseason should the team make any changes to their coaching staff. Williams remains under contract through the 2029 season after signing a three-year extension in September of 2025.

Williams finished third in targets and yardage behind both Amon-Ra St. Brown (8/68) and Isaac TeSlaa (3/49/1) in an abhorrent offensive showing for Detroit on Christmas Day. Give much of the credit to Minnesota, but also “credit” a horrific Jared Goff performance that reminded of his last few weeks as a Ram. Williams remains in the WR2 range for Week 18 in a meaningless game against the Bears.

Williams finished second on the team in targets, tied with Amon-Ra St. Brown. While he did break his 100-yard game streak at three, Williams’ floor has increased dramatically with Dan Campbell calling the shots on offense. Williams is reguarly invovled on short and intermediate crossers while still getting plenty of opportunities to hit the home run. Williams is entrenched as a WR2 heading into Week 17 against Minnesota.

Since Dan Campbell took over playcalling from John Morton ahead of Week 10’s game against the Commanders, Williams has 33 receptions, 582 yards, and four touchdowns in six games. (This, despite a baffling bagel against the Giants in Week 12.) Morton was the one out in front of the Williams hype train in the offseason; Campbell is merely the man who knows how to steer the ball to him. Williams will remain as inconsistent as any receiver in the sport because of how up-and-down the deep ball runs with him — he left another 40-ish yards on the field in this one on a downfield drop — but it’s hard to say he’s not an easy WR2 with this current pace. The Steelers defense should be gettable in Week 16.

Even with Amon-Ra St. Brown in the lineup, Williams managed to tie for the team lead with nine targets and narrowly edged out ARSB in receiving yards. Williams has now totaled 240 yards through the air over the last two weeks. A solid fantasy day could have been made better had Williams managed to score on a seven-yard run that came up a yard short of the end zone. Despite a strong two weeks, Williams remains a volatile play for fantasy managers, but things have been mostly good as of late. He’s gone for 66 or more receiving yards in five of his last six games and scored in four of those games. He’ll be on the WR2/WR3 fantasy radar for Week 15 against the Rams.

Williams was nearly unstoppable on in-breaking routes, racking up catches over the middle. Ironically, his 22-yard touchdown occurred on a screen pass, in which he absorbed a hit from a diving Packers defender post-catch, before slithering through a jumbled mess of Lions and Packers on the left side of the field. He emerged from the fray near the 10-yard line, high-stepping the rest of the journey into the end zone. Williams could warrant fantasy WR1 treatment against the Cowboys next week. Slot WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is expected to miss time.

Coming off 207 yards and two touchdowns over his past two games in the rejuvenated Detroit offense, Williams faded into the background once again in Week 12, as Amon-Ra St. Brown dominated targets (13) against a Giants defense that plays man coverage at one of the league’s highest rates. Williams had a 25-yard catch called back on penalty. He didn’t seem terribly interested in being part of the game after it became clear St. Brown would function as the engine of the Lions offense. Jamo drew a target on just six percent of his routes against the lowly New York secondary. Williams will still have some flex appeal in Week 13 against the Packers in what could be a high-scoring game.
  • DET Wide Receiver #18
TeSlaa is not fantasy-relevant on his own, but with TE Sam LaPorta (back) on injured reserve, his potential absence would have a small ripple effect. The Lions’ offense has racked up explosive gains with head coach Dan Campbell calling plays in recent weeks. TeSlaa’s Friday status is worth keeping an eye on for WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and WR Jameson Williams’ fantasy managers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Parker Washington is expected to return to practice next week.

Washington missed this week due to an undisclosed injury, but it doesn’t sound like this is anything to be too concerned about at this point. The fourth-year receiver is expected to make his return to the field next week and should be in position to be ready for the start of the season. Washington is coming off a breakout year in which he totaled 58 receptions for 847 yards and five touchdowns, and it was reported recently that the Jaguars seem “reluctant” to take him off the field, with some believing Washington has established himself as the WR1 for the Jags. He’s sounding more and more like a reliable WR2/WR3 as we enter prime fantasy draft season.

Raiders HC Klint Kubiak declined to name a starting QB after the team’s second preseason game against the Texans on Thursday.

Kirk Cousins didn’t play a snap in Thursday night’s game, but despite the decision not to dress his veteran QB, Kubiak opted not to commit to a starter just yet. Rookie Fernando Mendoza played the entire first half of yesterday’s game, completing 8-of-15 passes for 86 yards, with one of his incompletions resulting in an 80-yard pick-six. It’s long been believed that the Raiders’ plan entering this season was to go with Cousins as the starter before eventually making the move to Mendoza later in the year. While that may still end up being how things unfold, Kubiak’s decision not to name a starter on a night when several starters sat has raised questions ahead of the team’s third and final preseason game next week against the 49ers.

Chargers RB Keaton Mitchell rushed three times for minus-one yard in Thursday’s preseason game against the 49ers, adding one reception for 11 yards.

Mitchell’s box score would have looked a lot better if his 21-yard reception on a route out of the backfield had not been called back due to a penalty. Chargers starting RB Omarion Hampton played all three snaps on the opening drive before giving way to Mitchell, who played 10-of-10 snaps on the second and third drives. Fellow backup RB Kimani Vidal took the field as the Chargers’ kick returner to begin the game. He made his first appearance on offense on the Chargers’ fourth drive. Mitchell could return standalone FLEX value with big-play upside in this role. He reportedly visited the blue medical tent, but was allowed to return to the sideline. Hopefully, this is a non-issue.

Chargers TE Charlie Kolar caught 1-of-1 targets for nine yards in Thursday’s preseason game against the 49ers.

Kolar earned QB Justin Herbert’s first target of the night on a short out route to the left. Kolar secured the pass but stumbled and was brought down just shy of the first-down marker. PFF’s Nathan Jahnke notes that Kolar shared the field with TE David Njoku on two of the first three plays, but Kolar remained on the field for the Chargers’ first 11 personnel package. Kolar looks like the Chargers’ No. 1 tight end. He was a talented prospect but has contributed sparingly as a receiver in the NFL to this point, making him a coin-toss TE1/2 for fantasy.

49ers WR De’Zhaun Stribling caught 4-of-5 targets for 46 yards in Thursday’s preseason game against the Chargers.

Stribling starred on the 49ers’ first two drives. He caught three passes on the first drive, nabbing an eight-yard gain on a curl route, high-pointing a pass beyond the sticks and making a kneeling catch for a first down via a slant route from the perimeter. 49ers QB Brock Purdy beautifully threaded the needle to him on a post route downfield, sneaking the ball right past two defenders. Stribling nearly hauled in a 30-plus-yard pass down the left sideline, just a few yards from the end zone, but he couldn’t complete the catch. The result of that play might keep his ADP from inflating too much. The rookie wide receiver might warrant WR3 treatment right out of the gate.

Chargers WR Brenen Thompson exited Thursday’s preseason game against the 49ers after suffering an apparent injury.

Thompson stopped by the blue medical tent before being taken to the locker room. This is a bummer. The speedy wide receiver played all three first-team reps with QB Justin Herbert. Herbert hung up his cleats for the night after that drive, but Thompson remained on the field, earning two targets from QB Trey Lance. The first yielded a seven-yard gain on a comeback route. The second was thrown 50-plus yards downfield. Thompson dove for it, but a defender likely got away with a DPI no-call, and Lance slightly overthrew the pass anyway. Hopefully, Thompson is only dealing with a minor injury and can continue his encouraging development soon. Chargers WRs Quentin Johnston and Tre’ Harris appear to be inactive.

ESPN’s Michael DiRocco reports that the Jaguars are “reluctant” to take WR Parker Washington off the field.

DiRocco indicates that Washington is staying on the field for both 12 personnel and 11 personnel packages. He and WR Jakobi Meyers have reportedly led the position group in snaps this summer. Although Washington is dealing with an undisclosed injury at the moment, he is expected to return next week. DiRocco said on Tuesday that Washington has “established himself” as the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, which lines up with what we’ve been hearing all spring and summer.

Raiders RB Mike Washington rushed nine times for 56 yards in Thursday’s preseason game against the Texans, adding two receptions for 18 yards.

Washington looked good once again this week. His best play was an explosive gain on the Raiders’ first drive. Washington ran into the back of the line briefly but bounced off contact and took off downfield for a 33-yard gain. He was tackled by his shoestrings on the Texans’ 25-yard line. Unfortunately, the next play wasn’t great. Raiders QB Fernando Mendoza decided to check down to Washington on a play-action dropback, but the pass was intercepted and returned for an 80-yard touchdown. Texans LB Wade Woodaz made a great play on the ball. Washington possibly could have done a better job of maintaining spatial awareness and boxing Woodaz out, but the result of the play does not fall entirely on Washington’s shoulders. The rookie running back could offer standalone FLEX value this season. At worst, he is a high-upside stash.

Raiders WR Jalen Nailor caught 1-of-3 targets for 22 yards in Thursday’s preseason game against the Texans.

Both Nailor and WR Jack Bech played tonight while WR Tre Tucker took the night off. Bech failed to earn a target and played into the fifth drive. Nailor called it a night after the third drive. The Raiders’ top-three wide receivers appear to be Tucker, Nailor and Bech, in that order. Tucker might warrant matchup-based FLEX treatment in 12-team leagues.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) is on track to play in Week 1 against the Broncos.

The AFC West showdown takes place on September 14th, giving Mahomes just over three weeks to fit in a little extra rehab. Schefter adds that Mahomes has “cleared every hurdle” in training camp this summer. He has missed zero reps and reportedly “looks strong” on the practice field. Mahomes can be treated as a fantasy football QB1.
