Texans GM Nick Caserio said Keylan Rutledge would start at left guard.

He called him “their best offensive lineman.” The big news here is that free-agent addition Wyatt Teller will start on the bench with Evan Brown starting at center. We’ll see if the Texans have finally hit on a formula that will help them run the ball, but it’s not great news for Teller that even the Texans don’t want to start him.

The deal is worth $19.276 million and includes a $10.479 million signing bonus. Rutledge was viewed as an athletic, interior mauler in the pre-draft process. NBC Sports Houston’s Aaron Wilson describes Rutledge as “a quick study,” and adds that the Texans are excited about Rutledge’s versatility.
  • Houston moved up two spots. They gave up picks 69 and 167 but returned pick No. 91. A 2025 first-team All-American for a Georgia Tech rush offense that ranked third nationally with a 52 percent rushing success rate, Rutledge (6’4/316) is a burly interior mauler whose combination of power and movement skills makes him one of the more intriguing guard prospects in the 2026 class. He brings a 9.54 Relative Athletic Score, backed by a 5.05s forty, 4.54s shuttle and 7.54s three-cone, translating to surprising fluidity and range when climbing to the second level or working in space. Rutledge thrives as a drive and combo blocker, generating consistent displacement with heavy, purposeful hands while showing the timing and body control to stay connected through contact. He plays with a nasty demeanor and strong finishing mentality, pairing core strength and balance with enough athleticism to execute across multiple run schemes. Tight hips and heavy feet can limit his recovery ability once beaten, particularly against quicker interior rushers who win early in the rep. With high-end athleticism, brutish physicality and positional versatility, Rutledge projects as a potential long-term starter at guard whose toughness and movement skills give him scheme flexibility.
  • HOU Guard #77
Teller will likely be tasked with playing left guard in Houston. The 31-year-old simply didn’t seem to generate much interest in free agency other than the Texans. His market didn’t materialize. He’s a stopgap starter at this point, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Texans drafted someone in the first few rounds to push him for snaps at guard.
  • HOU Offensive Lineman #63
Browns was released by the Cardinals on Thursday and quickly finds a new home in Houston, where he could push for a starting role on the interior offensive line. The seven-year veteran bounced around the league his first two seasons before starting 68 games between 2021 and 2025. The low contract valuation appears to be a steal for the Texans.
  • FA Offensive Lineman #63
Brown signed a one-year deal in Arizona in 2024 and re-upped with the team for two years last offseason. With a new regime taking over, the team chose to cut him with a year left on his $11.5 million deal. Brown is a replacement-level player, but he has 68 career starts and experience at all three interior offensive line positions. He should have no issues finding work in 2026.
  • FA Guard #77
Wilson is quick to note that nothing is “pending or imminent there.” A calf injury ended Teller’s 2025 season prematurely. The veteran offensive guard, now 31 years old, remains a moderately capable run blocker, having earned a 65.7 PFF run-blocking grade last season.
  • FA Guard #77
Cleveland’s long-time guard will hit free agency and has already announced he won’t return to the Browns after being benched at points towards the end of the season. Teller finished with a 62.2 PFF offensive grade, his second season in a row under 70 as he struggled through injuries. It’s possible he’s not a star guard anymore, but it certainly seems like NFL teams believe he has something left in the tank.
  • FA Guard #77
Teller made a heartfelt post to the city of Cleveland and its fans on social media to say his goodbyes. All five starting offensive linemen for the Browns are set to hit free agency, and now at least one of them will not be back. At 31 years old, the three-time Pro Bowl guard should have plenty of suitors in free agency.
  • CLE Guard #77
Teller returned from the calf issue last week but only played a handful of snaps before leaving the game. His season is now over. The team signed Kingsley Eguakun in a corresponding move. Eguakun comes from the Lions’ practice squad.

It’s never a good sign when a player is added to Friday’s injury report, but Fannin told reporters on Sunday that he plans to play. In addition to Fannin, backup QB Dillon Gabriel (shoulder) was also added to Friday’s injury report and is listed as questionable. CB Myles Harden (shoulder), DT Sam Kamara (elbow), and OG Wyatt Teller (calf) are also listed as questionable for this weekend.

Titans CEO Burke Nihill said the organization fully believes in coach Robert Saleh and general manager Mike Borgonzi.

The Titans are 0-5 and have won only three games since Borgonzi joined the team prior to the 2025 season. Despite this, Nihill told ESPN’s Turron Davenport that he feels a “sense of stability” in the organization. Davenport, in turn, notes that the Titans “have fired a coach or general manager every year since 2022.” Nihill apologized to Titans fans, saying ownership and team executives feel “a sense of grief” about the endless losses, and “feel the sense of responsibility to deliver” for fans moving forward. We wish them luck.

Caleb Williams (hamstring) posted a video to social media indicating he will play in Week 6 against the Falcons.

Normally, social media posts don’t count for much. However, earlier today, Bears coach Ben Johnson said that the Bears should have more clarity on Williams’ status by the end of the day, after the medical team put Williams through “the final stress tests” in his return-to-play program. We are inferring that Williams’ social media post suggests he passed the final medical testing, though we have not officially received word that this is indeed the case. For now, we tentatively expect Williams to play on Sunday. He can be treated as a mid-to-low QB1.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the NFL “could step back in and create a longer suspension” for Josh Jacobs if the video showing his altercation with a woman is released.

Fowler is surprisingly saying the quiet part out loud here, though this has been the general consensus for fans and analysts for a while. Jacobs is scheduled to come off the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list on Monday. The NFL is reportedly trying to get hold of the video, and Jacobs has sued to block its release. Fowler adds that the woman’s attorney said her client has not participated in the league’s investigation due to privacy concerns. If the video stays under wraps, Jacobs could be allowed to continue playing in the NFL.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Eagles will decide whether to place Jalen Hurts (blood clot) on short-term injured reserve on Saturday.

Fowler reportedly spoke to “some people who are hopeful” that Hurts can avoid injured reserve. He described the situation as being “very much touch and go” and said Tanner McKee will “probably” start multiple games. The Eagles go on bye in Week 10, so if Hurts does land on injured reserve, the Eagles’ Week 11 game against the Steelers would be his earliest possible return.

Christian Kirk (calf) was limited on Friday.

Kirk’s inability to practice fully despite his lengthy injured reserve stint suggests he might need another week or two to get ready for an NFL game. Still, the 49ers don’t face the Commanders until Monday night. If active, he could end up warranting FLEX treatment with Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) ailing.

Nick Bosa (calf) did not practice on Friday.

Bosa is on the wrong side of questionable despite prior reports and coaching comments indicating he has a chance to face the Commanders on Monday night. For now, we expect Bosa to miss another week, though the extra day off could help him return.

Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) did not practice on Friday.

Even for an iron man like Evans, this is a little concerning. Frankly, we still expect Evans to play, but two missed practices due partially to Achilles “soreness” are less than ideal. The 49ers face the Commanders on Monday night. Making a backup plan is worthwhile at this time.

Ashton Jeanty (foot) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 6 against the Bills.

The Raiders’ starting running back is good to go for what should be a fantasy-friendly game environment. The Raiders encouragingly stopped listing Jeanty with an ankle injury this week. Hopefully, his remaining plantar fasciitis issue subsides before long as well. Jeanty is a low-end RB1 in Week 6.

Brock Bowers (knee) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 6 against the Bills.

One of these days, Bowers will be removed from the injury report for good. For now, we will continue to let you know that the Raiders’ star player gets a half day on Wednesday before practicing in full for the rest of the week. Bowers is the overall TE1 in fantasy football each week. Start him accordingly.

Austin Ekeler (chest) was limited on Friday.

Ekeler continues to practice in a limited capacity while wearing a red non-contact jersey. He has a chance to play on Monday night, but he is clearly hurting. Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) remains sidelined and Rachaad White (shoulder) has been downgraded to limited. It’s an ailing backfield.
