ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports Jets RB Breece Hall (groin) said he is “good to go and can handle a full workload, if necessary.”

It’s unclear whether Hall added the “if necessary” bit or if Cimini did, but regardless, this is good to hear. Hall is practicing in full leading up to the Jets’ Week 1 game against the Titans and can be treated as an RB1. Jets RB3 Isaiah Davis (knee) is also practicing fully.
Have expectations 'in check' for Nabers this week
Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter consider Malik Nabers return to practice, but advise to temper expectations this week for the superstar wide receiver.

This news was expected, but it is great to see, regardless. Hall is set to handle a sizable, RB1-worthy workload this season, having been paid accordingly by the Jets’ front office back in May. The Titans field an unimposing defense. A ceiling outcome is in play for the veteran running back.

This comes a few hours after it was reported that Hall was “moving well” while participating in agility drills on the sideline. Hall suffered a groin injury last week and is expected to miss two or three weeks, but a return in time for Week 1 was always in the cards. Hall is one of several players Glenn is hoping to have back in time for Week 1. He also said he expects TE Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) and CB D’Angelo Ponds (calf) to be ready for Week 1. Hall is in the mix as a fringe RB1/RB2 this season and is expected to handle another heavy workload in his fifth season.
  • NYJ Running Back #20
Hall suffered a strained groin at last Monday’s practice and is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. While he won’t be practicing at full capacity any time soon, this is an encouraging report on Hall, who has 20 days to get ready before facing the Titans in Week 1. Head coach Aaron Glenn said last week that he expects Hall to be ready for the season opener, so for now we’ll continue to monitor his progress in the coming days in anticipation of a full return soon.

Hall suffered a groin strain and left Monday’s practice with Glenn saying he didn’t think the injury was a big deal. Now Hall is set to miss the next 2-3 weeks. The good news is that Hall is expected to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, but the kind of breakout season fantasy drafters are looking for from Hall typically don’t begin with a multi-week preseason injury. Hall may be ready for the start of the season, but fantasy managers should have a backup plan. Braelon Allen is the late-round handcuff for Hall if his absence does extend into the regular season.

Glenn said he doesn’t believe Hall’s injury “was a big deal,” but said the star RB will be evaluated. It sounds like Hall avoided anything too serious, but given the nature of these types of injuries, it wouldn’t be surprising if Hall was sidelined for at least a few days. With Hall and Isaiah Davis (knee) both sidelined, the Jets are relatively thin at RB at the moment. Braelon Allen will slide into RB1 duties until Hall can return, and remains an intriguing late-round pick as the handcuff for Hall in fantasy leagues.
  • NYJ Running Back #20
This is a developing story, so we might not know the specifics of Hall’s injury for a while. ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that Hall went down untouched after making a catch, while Jets beat writer Brian Costello speculated that it could be a groin injury for Hall. It’s all speculation at this point, but the Jets losing Hall for any length of time would be a tough blow for the offense. He’s once again expected to handle a three-down workload after seeing a 33 percent opportunity share last season. We will check back in when we learn more about Hall’s status.

Rosenblatt led his breakdown by noting that Davis and Braelon Allen will both get snaps, so there isn’t likely to be a clear winner behind Breece Hall. Allen missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury. In his absence, the Jets leaned on Davis as a pass-catcher to give Hall the occasional breather. He was targeted 28 times and brought down 21 of them for 186 yards. Davis has also been effective between the tackles, averaging 5.6 yards per carry through two seasons compared to 3.7 for Allen. The Jets’ backup job could have some appeal in deeper fantasy leagues, but it sounds like fantasy managers will want to get more info from training camp before placing their bets.

Glenn reportedly wanted to use his backfield in a similar fashion last season before Allen went down in Week 4, according to an article published by ESPN. This would be potentially brutal news for fantasy managers eyeing Breece Hall in drafts, although it is worth pointing out that in the three complete games both Hall and Allen played together, Hall appeared on 59 percent of the team’s snaps while Allen played on 29 percent of snaps, and Davis just 15 percent. Hall also had 51 total opportunities over that span, while Allen and Davis combined for 22 opportunities. Time will tell if Glenn and offensive coordinator Frank Reich really do lean into this “three-headed monster” idea, but it’s hard to imagine Hall, who recently signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract, losing enough work to be forced out of the mix as a fringe RB1/RB2 given his three-down skillset. That said, both Allen and Davis could serve as viable late-round handcuffs for Hall should he ever miss time.

Despite adding 15 pounds since entering the NFL, Allen said this is the lowest his body fat percentage has ever been. Allen missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury that eventually required surgery. At this point, it sounds like his recovery is complete. Head coach Aaron Glenn talked up his potential in the passing game, though he said that he views Breece Hall, Allen, and Isaiah Davis as a “three-headed monster.” Allen could have some minor stand-alone value as a short-yardage back this year, but the presence of Davis will likely prevent him from making much of an impact on the redraft fantasy landscape.

The Jets traded away two star defenders as they began an organizational reset last season. They reportedly received offers for their star running back as well, but ultimately decided against trading him away. Hall’s new deal averages $15.25 million per year and makes him the NFL’s third-highest-paid running back. That said, SNY’s Connor Hughes notes that the contract’s third year has no guaranteed money, so this could end up being a two-year deal. Hall totaled 36 receptions, 1,415 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns last season, finishing as the PPR RB19. Given the Jets’ offensive personnel upgrades and the team’s vote of confidence in their star rusher, Hall has decent odds of beating that season-long finish this year.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Kyle Tonges suffered and MCL injury against the Rams.

Shanahan told reporters that it “doesn’t look good.” The 27-year-old tight end suffered the injury near the end of the first half, and it sounds like San Francisco will be without the backup tight end for some time. Luke Ferrell will likely see more snaps with Tonges unavailable.

Tyler Higbee caught both of his targets for 12 yards in the Rams’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

Higbee ended up leading the Rams’ tight ends in targets and receptions, as Davis Allen had just one catch before exiting with a head injury, and Terrance Ferguson didn’t catch his only opportunity. Ferguson still seems like the tight end to roster going forward, but one could argue Higbee has the higher floor because he’ll see more snaps because of his blocking ability. That’s not a ringing endorsement, if it’s not obvious. The Rams will try and get it going against the Giants in Week 2.

Davante Adams caught 3-of-6 targets for 26 yards in the Rams’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

There was much talk about how great Adams looked in the precursor to the season, but it wasn’t on display in Week 1. The 33-year-old had a long gain of just 13 yards, and he and Matthew Stafford were unable to find much opening against the San Francisco secondary. Adams will get a chance to rebound in Week 2 in a Monday Night Football contest against the Giants.

Puka Nacua caught 5-of-9 targets for 74 yards in the Rams’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

Nacua did bring in a 41-yard connection in the first half, but outside of that, it was a disappointing first effort to the season for one of the best wideouts in the game. It’s tough to blame much — if any — of it on Nacua, as Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ passing attack was completely shut down by the 49ers’ defense. All things considered, it could have been worse. Nacua remains near the top of the wideout rankings for Week 2 against the Giants.

DeMarcus Robinson caught 2-of-3 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Rams.

Robinson snagged one of three touchdown passes from Brock Purdy, with his being the longest connection on a 39-yard strike. The 31-year-old had just one other catch, and while he’s still capable of making a deep play or two, it’s hard to trust him as fantasy option. He’ll have a chance to prove the doubters wrong again in Week 2 against the Dolphins.

George Kittle caught 2-of-5 targets for 12 yards in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Rams.

Brock Purdy tried to get Kittle involved early in the contest, but it was the one legitimate option that Purdy wasn’t able to find success will. It’s amazing that the 32-year-old was even able to play in this game considering he tore his Achilles in January, but it is also fair to say it was a fantasy dud. Expect better things going forward for Kittle, and the next chance comes in Week 2 against a not-so-great Dolphins’ defense.

Deebo Samuel caught 6-of-7 targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Rams.

In addition to those receptions, Samuel also added a rush for five yards and returned two kicks for 74 yards with a long of 45. The 30-year-old’s time with the Commanders was disappointing, but his return to San Francisco — at least in this first contest — was a successful one, even without much yardage. The 30-year-old’s targets were likely helped by De’Zhaun Stribling leaving with an ankle injury, but the connection between Samuel and Purdy looked solid enough in the Australia opener. Samuel will be back in action in Week 2 in a matchup against the Dolphins.

Mike Evans caught 6-of-7 targets for 49 yards with a touchdown in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Rams.

Evans made his debut with the 49ers and high-pointed a touchdown pass from Brock Purdy the way we’ve seen him do it for well over a decade with the Buccaneers. He did have a drop, but he was targeted early as the 49ers were pass-happy in the first half before needing less of an arial attack over the final two quarters. Evans is always going to be a red-zone threat with his 6-foot-5 size, and stands a decent chance of scoring again in Week 2 against the Dolphins.

Blake Corum rushed 10 times for 54 yards in the Rams’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

Corum was unable to find the end zone while Kyren Williams did, but Corum was the more efficient tailback between the 20s with Williams only tallying 41 yards. He was also a non-factor in the passing game, but the Rams were basically a non factor in the passing game with Matthew Stafford struggling to figure out the 49ers’ defense. Corum could see more touches in Week 2 against the Giants, but there’s no guarantee.

Kaelon Black rushed 14 times for 65 yards in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Rams.

It was Black’s NFL debut, and all things considered, it was a pretty good one. The former Indiana star had four more carries than Christian McCaffrey, and was much more involved in the rushing attack in the first half; although CMC was obviously a factor in the passing attack and Black had just one catch for five yards. It wasn’t the most impressive statline you’ll see from a debut, but there were definitely flashes that suggest success for the 24-year-old. Black and the 49ers will get a chance to face the Dolphins in Week 2.
