Brenen Thompson (quad) will not play in Los Angeles’ Week 3 game against the Bills.

He didn’t practice at any point this week and should be regarded as questionable for Week 4 at this time. Thompson played just 22 snaps in LA’s first two games, so his absence won’t necessarily free up more snaps for anyone else.

Thompson missed Week 3 with the quad issue. A DNP today makes it unlikely he is cleared for Week 4. Tre’ Harris will continue to go unchallenged as the team’s WR3. He could even push Quentin Johnston for the No. 2 job if the former first-round pick continues to struggle.

The Chargers’ rookie speedster is on the wrong side of questionable. Thompson is not fantasy-relevant on his own, but having him available is a plus for the offense overall. He will likely miss the Chargers’ Week 3 game against the Bills, though.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #89
Thompson injured his hip during the preseason and was on the Week 1 injury report as a limited participant twice. He was eventually cleared and has played in both of LA’s losses. Thompson wasn’t on the injury report last week, so this could be a new issue. Either way, the rookie appears to be on the wrong side of questionable for Week 3. He is not on the fantasy radar, but his absence could get Tre’ Harris on the field for a few more routes.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #89
The speedy rookie injured his hip on August 20th in the Chargers’ preseason game against the 49ers. Although he is stuck in the No. 4 spot on the depth chart, it was an encouraging preseason showing prior to the injury. Thompson was in for all three first-team reps and continued playing with the second team for a while before exiting. He does not need to be rostered in 12-team leagues, but can be stashed in 14-team leagues.

Brenen should be available on Sunday, but the Chargers could choose to keep their presumed No. 4 wide receiver under wraps until he is fully healthy. The rookie wide receiver will be relevant in single-game DFS tournaments once he is up to speed.

Thompson tweaked his hip in preseason play back on August 20th. A limited session on Wednesday puts him on track to play in Week 1 against the Cardinals, potentially as the team’s WR4 and a special teams contributor.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #89
Thompson took first- and second-team reps in last Thursday’s preseason game against the 49ers. Chargers’ Nos. 2 and 3 WRs Quentin Johnston and Tre’ Harris were held out with what are believed to be minor injuries. Thompson eventually checked out of the game and entered the blue medical tent before being taken back to the locker room. He sported a yellow jersey today, which ESPN’s Kris Rhim dubbed the “working through something” jersey. He was likely a limited participant today. Thompson could be anything from a mid-to-late-season FLEX option to a part-time player stuck in a fantasy-unfriendly role. Keep an eye on his development and recovery.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #89
Thompson stopped by the blue medical tent before being taken to the locker room. This is a bummer. The speedy wide receiver played all three first-team reps with QB Justin Herbert. Herbert hung up his cleats for the night after that drive, but Thompson remained on the field, earning two targets from QB Trey Lance. The first yielded a seven-yard gain on a comeback route. The second was thrown 50-plus yards downfield. Thompson dove for it, but a defender likely got away with a DPI no-call, and Lance slightly overthrew the pass anyway. Hopefully, Thompson is only dealing with a minor injury and can continue his encouraging development soon. Chargers WRs Quentin Johnston and Tre’ Harris appear to be inactive.

Through two training camp practices, Thompson has been making plays when given opportunities with the first-team offense. On Wednesday, Chargers QB Justin Herbert told reporters that Thompson is “going to be very good” and “make a lot of plays.” In a piece published Thursday morning, The Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported that Thompson will be battling for snaps with WR Tre’ Harris, “who is also off to a great start.” Harris (6'3/210) can contribute as a receiver and as a blocker. While Thompson boasts 4.26-second 40 speed, at 5'9/164, it will be tough for him to bully defensive backs in the run game. Still, this is good news for dynasty and best ball managers who have taken late-round fliers on Thompson thus far.

It will be very hard for Thompson to return fantasy value, but he sure is fun. When the Chargers drafted Thompson, OC Mike McDaniel hopped on the phone to tell Thompson that he is “going to do elite stuff” in the NFL. Thompson (5'9/164) clocked a 4.26-second 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine, and GM Joe Hortiz compared Thompson’s size, height and speed combination to WRs Tyreek Hill and DeSean Jackson. Chargers WRs Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston appear to hold the Nos. 1 and 2 spots on the depth chart, and the team likes WR Tre’ Harris’ blocking abilities. Keep an eye on Thompson in training camp, but note that it is very hard for rotational players — assuming he earns a rotational role — to contribute in fantasy.

Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reports that the Cowboys have acquired Joey Porter Jr. in a trade with the Steelers.

In exchange for Porter, the Cowboys will send the Steelers a second-round selection as well as a conditional sixth-round pick. Pelissero noted in his blog that trade talks between Dallas and Pittsburgh had picked up over the past few weeks, and the deal will soon become official. Porter has yet to play a snap in 2026 as he has dealt with a back injury, and also a contract dispute. The 26-year-old is one of the more talented corners in football, and Dallas has struggled considerably to stop the pass over the first three weeks. Assuming good health, Porter should be a vast improvement over what the Cowboys have gotten out of their corners to begin 2026.

Will Shipley (foot) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Shipley was limited by his foot issue in Week 3, and received just two targets in the passing game with no carries. With Tank Bigsby a full-go during Wednesday’s estimated session, Shipley is looking at a limited amount of touches even if he can go in Week 4.

Jadarian Price (chest) was limited in Wednesday’s practice ahead of Week 4 against the Chargers.

Price was able to play in Week 3 despite the chest ailment, although he was benched for most of the first half after giving up a second fumble of the season. If Price can’t go, George Holani and Emmanuel Wilson — not necessarily in that order — would be the replacements, and are likely to be involved regardless.

Eagles WLB Zack Baun is in the league’s concussion protocol.

It’s less than ideal news for the Eagles’ every-down ‘backer with the team on a short week against the Rams. Teams seem to be getting players through the protocol faster than ever of late, but the Eagles’ six-day work week has play-making Baun firmly on the wrong side of questionable.

DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was held out of Wednesday’s practice.

This is the same routine Smith followed last week before ultimately suiting up against the Bears on Monday Night Football. Perhaps the pattern changes with the Eagles on a short week against the Rams, but we would fully expect Smith to be out there as a high-end WR2 this weekend.

Dallas Goedert (knee) remained sidelined at Wednesday’s practice.

That leaves Goedert extremely likely to miss his second consecutive contest when the Eagles host the Rams this Sunday. Zach Ertz was Goedert’s feel-good Week 3 fill-in, but Ertz’s 38 percent snap share ended up producing one catch on two targets. With this entire offense looking rather sluggish at the moment, Ertz does not have TE2 streamer appeal.

ESPN’s Kris Rhim reports Keaton Mitchell was wearing a walking boot on his left foot after practice.

He was eventually added to the injury report as “limited” with an ankle issue. Per Rhim, Mitchell told reporters in the locker room he was okay. Mitchell was not initially on the injury report. This obviously flared up during practice but he didn’t have it looked at until after the report was posted. We will get more clarity on the situation tomorrow. Mitchell’s role grew in Week 3 with 11 touches, but a foot or ankle injury would likely limit any further progress.

Jackson Powers-Johnson (groin) did not practice Wednesday.

Powers-Johnson was the only Raider who missed practice because of an injury. Former third-round pick Caleb Rogers filled in for JPJ on Sunday, though he was only needed for five snaps. Rogers would presumably draw the start if Powers-Johnson can’t go.

J.K. Dobbins (hip) is practicing in full for Week 4 against the 49ers.

RJ Harvey was checked for a concussion in Week 3 and is not on the injury report today, meaning both backs are good to go for Week 4. Dobbins saw 17 carries versus the Rams compared to just two for Harvey, though the latter caught six passes. Dobbins caught one pass. The rushing advantage will keep Dobbins in the RB3 mix for Week 4.

KhaDarel Hodge (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

This is a low blow, even for the subsation. Hodge began the year on San Francisco’s practice squad but was promoted to the active roster when De’Zhaun Stribling went down with an ankle injury. He wound up running 45 percent of the routes in Week 3 but was not targeted once. With Mike Evans also banged up, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins could be in line for more work this week.
