Terry McLaurin caught 6-of-9 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 3 win over the Seahawks.

That’s more like it. McLaurin connected on a 30-yard touchdown with Marcus Mariota and went over 50 yards for the first time in 2026. Most of his connections outside of that touchdown were for short yardage, but he and Mariota appeared to have quality chemistry and took advantage of some smaller Seattle defensive backs on slants. McLaurin offers volatility, but is in the WR2 conversation for Week 4 against the Colts in London.

It could have been a much bigger day for McLaurin, who had a 20-yard touchdown overturned after it was determined he did not maintain possession. In the third quarter, McLaurin broke free down the field for what would have been an easy touchdown on a trick play, but fellow receiver Antonio Williams underthrew him, ruining another scoring opportunity. McLaurin’s nine targets are a nice bump from the four he saw in Week 1 against the Eagles, and he was targeted 20-plus yards downfield four times. He continues to look like a volatile fantasy asset, with Stefon Diggs now in town. Diggs caught five passes for 47 yards and two scores in Sunday’s game. McLaurin will settle somewhere in the WR3 ranks for next week’s game against the Seahawks.

It was a forgettable first game of the season for McLaurin, who saw two of his four targets come on the Commanders’ final drive of the game. Those two targets resulted in his only two catches, as McLaurin picked up gains of eight and six yards on the drive, with his six-yard catch coming on a fourth-and-two. McLaurin and the Commanders faced stiff coverage from the Eagles all afternoon. Stefon Diggs, who joined the Commanders during training camp, led the way with nine targets and could prove to be a legitimate threat to McLaurin’s target share this season if today is any indication. It’s only one game, but McLaurin now totaled four or fewer targets in seven of his last 11 games dating back to last season. We expect him to have a more productive outing next week against the Cowboys, where he’ll profile as a fringe WR2/WR3.

In addition to Daniels, the Commanders are also expected to play Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs, giving us the first look at the team’s revamped passing game under new offensive coordinator David Blough, with most of its starters on the field. We wouldn’t expect Daniels and company to play more than a series or two, but this will be Daniels’ first game since Week 14 of last season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter later added that the deal is worth “up to” $12 million over one year. Diggs has been tied to the Commanders by local and national reporters for weeks. After seeing their lack of receiving weapons in training camp for a few days, GM Adam Peters finally pulled the trigger. Diggs will immediately slot in as the team’s No. 2 receiver, ahead of Antonio Williams and a cast of uninteresting veterans. The Pats limited Diggs to a 68 percent route rate last year, but he still managed to hit 1,000 yards via impressive efficiency marks. With Terry McLaurin operating as the Commanders’ No. 1 receiver, Diggs is unlikely to hit four digits again, but he should still offer fantasy managers usable FLEX numbers on a weekly basis.

Unlike in recent seasons, McLaurin won’t line up strictly on the left boundary in Washington OC David Blough’s system, Jhabvala said. “I think the multitude of formations and route combinations is going to give all of us flexibility to move around the formation, keep the defense on their toes and have a lot of routes that may look similar at the stem but different at the top,” McLaurin said. “Just having those types of variations in your route tree is just an unbelievable weapon to have as a receiver.” Entering his eighth NFL season and coming off a disappointing 2025 campaign in which he had 38 receptions over ten games, McLaurin will look to bounce back as Washington’s clear-cut No. 1 wideout this season. Before 2025, he had six straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons and scored a career high 13 touchdowns in 2024 during Jayden Daniels’ rookie year.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk obviously comes to mind, and multiple team sources tell Keim that the Commanders are “well aware” of Aiyuk’s “desire” to be reunited with his former college quarterback, Jayden Daniels, but Keim believes the Commanders are unlikely to trade for him. If Aiyuk were to be released, Keim thinks only a one-year, prove-it deal would be offered. Keim follows the Aiyuk section by saying the Commanders could also draft a receiver. Perhaps the team is negotiating through the media. Perhaps not. Hopefully, things will become clearer in the coming weeks and months. Keim adds that the front office would have pursued Colts WR Alec Pierce had he not re-signed with Indianapolis and, per Keim, Pierce “absolutely” would have signed with Washington in that scenario. The Commanders also pursued former Packers WR Romeo Doubs but lost out to the Patriots.

Blough is taking over as offensive coordinator after the Commanders fired Kliff Kingsbury. His first order of business will be to revive the passing game that thrived in 2024 and flopped in 2025. McLaurin probably won’t average 10 opportunities per game in the literal sense. His career-high in targets per game is 8.9. Still, it’s good to see Blough committed to getting the ball in the hands of his team’s best pass-catcher, even if he’s fudging the numbers a little. McLaurin missed most of the offseason last year in search of a new contract and couldn’t stay healthy when he finally rejoined the team. He appeared in just 10 games and posted a 38/582/3 receiving line on the year. Health permitting, McLaurin should return to the WR2 ranks in 2026.
  • WAS Wide Receiver #17
Coming into the season, McLaurin dealt with contract disputes all the way up to late August, signing a three-year extension before the start of the season. He suffered a quad injury that caused him to miss four weeks prior to re-aggravating the injury in Week 8 and not returning until Week 13. Seeing under five targets in 6-of-10 games this season, McLaurin did not return on his fantasy draft capital, totaling 38 receptions for 582 yards and three touchdowns. It ends up as a lost season for the veteran receiver, dealing with injury with Jayden Daniels also hurt throughout the season. McLaurin will return as Washington’s WR1 for next season with strengths in contested catches and the red zone. He did not return WR3 value this season but will sit on the WR2 borderline with no contract disputes holding him out for the offseason.

It was a quiet afternoon for the entirety of the Washington offense, with the final box scores entirely underselling how poor the team performed against their divisional rivals. The team ran only 41 offensive plays and would have been handily blown out if not for a 72-yard touchdown by rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt and a 41-yard, catch-and-run gain by Deebo Samuel. McLaurin heads into a Week 18 meeting with the Eagles at the tail end of a disappointing fantasy season.

The well-traveled journeyman quarterback will get the nod against Dallas after Marcus Mariota sustained quad and hand injuries in Week 16 against the Eagles. Johnson represents a big-time downgrade for Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, and the rest of the Washington pass catchers, even in a matchup against the burnable Cowboys secondary. Look for the Commanders to go run heavy in Week 17, making Chris Rodriguez viable as a flex option in 12-team formats.

Rashod Bateman caught 2-of-3 targets for 37 yards in the Ravens’ Week 3 win over the Cowboys.

As expected, Bateman was reduced back to a lightly used WR2 with Zay Flowers back in the lineup. After going for 7-88-1 on nine targets last week against the Saints, Bateman saw just three targets in Sunday’s win, with one of those resulting in a 31-yard gain. Bateman’s 20 routes run led the Ravens’ in Sunday’s win, but he offers nothing of fantasy value as long as Flowers is in the lineup. Fantasy managers who added him after his Week 2 breakout can send him back to waivers ahead of Week 4’s game against the Titans.

Panthers coach Dave Canales said Bryce Young (leg) will undergo imaging “just to make sure” on Monday.

Canales didn’t want to get specific about Young’s status after he took a cleat to the leg, but deferred also to the idea of “other things.” It’s never incredible news to be looking down the barrel of imaging, but Young was able to return and play through the injury on Sunday and this has the feel of an “out of an abundance of concern” test for the 25-year-old quarterback.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Jalen Thompson (hamstring) is set to miss “four-plus weeks.”

In other words, he’s headed to injured reserve. The Cowboys safety room has been besieged by injuries this year, with Malik Hooker also missing time. They don’t have another safety on their practice squad so they may be hunting the tryout circuit on Tuesday.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine reports Jalen McMillan is having an MRI on his left knee.

McMillan suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Vikings and did not return to the game. The 24-year-old receiver has played in two games this season but has yet to register a catch on the nine offensive snaps he has played. It’s been a rough two seasons for McMillan, who missed nearly all of last season with a serious neck injury that sidelined him until Week 15.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said “nope, we’re all in this together” when asked about possibly replacing OC Nick Caley.

Sugar, we’re going down swinging. Caley’s offense has been underwhelming so far — though not having Nico Collins for Weeks 2 and 3 hasn’t helped — and there’s a lot of pressure on this Texans offense at this time. In-season offensive coordinator replacements aren’t exactly bets to go well either way, but Caley is going to have to do a lot better over the next 14 weeks if he wants to keep his job after the end of this year.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports Panthers CB Jaycee Horn (quad) is out indefinitely.

According to Pelissero, Horn is seeking a second opinion on his injury, but a stint on the IR is “likely,” and the star corner could “miss significant time.” it’s a brutal blow to a Panthers secondary that has been among the league’s best for the first three weeks of the season. A big reason for their success has been Horn’s play. He has been targeted just 10 times thus far, allowing five receptions for 63 scoreless yards with two pass breakups, per PFF.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports an MRI revealed no ligament or tendon damage to Baker Mayfield’s dislocated thumb.

In addition to a clean report on his ligaments and tendons, the MRI also revealed no fracture. This is as good of news as the Buccaneers could have hoped for, as Mayfield’s absence is expected to be on the shorter end compared to what it could have been had the MRI revealed more damage. Head coach Todd Bowles said Mayfield is looking at a minimum three-week absence, which would put him in line to return for Week 7 against the Panthers if all goes well. Rookie UDFA Jalon Daniels, who went 0-for-3 passing with an interception against the Vikings, will draw the start in the Buccaneers’ Week 4 game against the Packers.

Giants acquired QB J.J. McCarthy from the Vikings in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero was the first to report the trade. McCarthy landing with John Harbaugh’s Giants feels a bit too on-the-nose given his connection with Jim Harbaugh during his days at Michigan. McCarthy was at one point competing for the Vikings’ QB1 job in camp with Kyler Murray, but was knocked all the way down to QB3 on the Vikings’ depth chart when Carson Wentz took over for Murray in Week 1 and drew the start in Week 2. Assuming Jameis Winston doesn’t suddenly exceed expectations and lead an efficient passing attack, McCarthy will probably get a shot to start at some point when he gets up to speed with the offense. McCarthy has thrown for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 10 career games while completing 57.6 percent of his passes. We’ll see if a change of scenery is all he needs to turn the corner and live up to the hype that made him the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Packers signed OG Mekhi Becton, formerly of the Chargers.

Becton worked out for the Packers on Monday and signed shortly after. The veteran guard fills an immediate need for an offensive line that has been decimated by injuries as of late. Becton appeared in 14 regular-season games for the Chargers last season while playing exclusively at right guard. He earned a 35.7 PFF offensive grade while allowing 37 pressures and three sacks, and struggled to replicate the run-blocking success he had in 2024 while with the Eagles. He certainly fills a need, but time will tell if this proves to be a difference-making signing for an offensive line that has struggled out of the gate.

Josh Allen completed 16-of-26 passes for 204 yards and two interceptions in the Bills’ 24-16, Week 3 win over the Chargers, adding 22 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground.

Allen certainly wasn’t good in this one, but he wasn’t alone. The Bills turned the ball over five times, committed 10 penalties, and allowed four sacks and somehow won this game. His first interception was on a truly bad read over the middle of the field. The second was on a deep pass into coverage when Allen thought he had drawn an offside. The pass managed to hit the safety in the back and then land in his stomach when he rolled over after hitting the ground. Allen would also fumble on a sack later in the game. The Chargers did a good job of taking Allen’s scrambles away, and this entire Bills team was in disarray, so nobody was consistently open down the field. That being said, Allen’s two rushing touchdowns give him 85 for his career, which means he’s now tied with former Bill Marshawn Lynch for 17th on the NFL’s all-time list. The Bills and Allen will look to get things straightened out against the Patriots next week, and Allen will clearly be in your lineups.
