NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports DeVonta Smith (hamstring) has “a shot” to return for Week 6’s game against the Panthers.

Smith hasn’t been seen on the practice field since Week 3 ended, so to say the practice week matters would perhaps be underselling it. Expect Smith to play if he practices at all, though, as the veteran often has suited up with little practice time in the past.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Chargers “still do not appear eager to sell players” ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

Fowler said he spoke to multiple executives around the league this week, and the general sentiment is that the Chargers are not interested in making any moves. Fowler wonders aloud whether Khalil Mack, who has generated “a lot of interest,” could be had for a fourth- or fifth-round pick. Mack, 35, certainly makes sense for contending teams. The 0-7 Chargers do not qualify as such.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Daniel Jones “maybe wants to” be traded away from the Colts.

Fowler says that multiple sources around the league, including multiple sources inside the Colts’ organization, believe Jones “should be trying to get out of Indy, or maybe wants to.” The Colts are entering a rebuild, with trade rumors swirling around multiple star players. Fowler closed the segment by hinting at the Vikings as a possible landing spot. Jones’ fantasy-scoring outlook might tick up a little bit were he to head back to Minnesota.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that Jordan Elliott will work out for the Bears next week.

Elliott was released by the Titans a couple of weeks ago due to an “incident” at their facility. Schultz says that Titans coach Robert Saleh has been an “advocate” for Elliott despite the team releasing him. Should they bring him aboard, the Bears would further solidify their interior defensive line after recently acquiring Jeffery Simmons.

Aiyuk seeks reinstatement, but under league rules, he owes the 49ers roughly $13 million in bonus forfeiture. The two sides met today, but evidently, things were not resolved. The saga continues. Stay tuned.

Kenny Gainwell (hip) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 9 against the Bears.

Gainwell has been a little more involved in recent weeks, and coach Todd Bowles recently told reporters that they are getting closer to the 1A/1B usage that they envisioned when they signed him. Gainwell will again play sidekick to Bucky Irving this week.

Tristan Wirfs (toe) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 9 against the Bears.

The Buccaneers will have their starting left tackle on hand when they take on the Bears’ ascending defensive line in Week 9. Wirfs is one of the best offensive tackles in football. Having him on the field is always a plus for Baker Mayfield.

George Pickens (hamstring) is questionable to play in Week 9 against the Colts.

Earlier today, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he is “hopeful” that Pickens will be available for this weekend’s game against the Colts. Pickens ended up being limited in practice all week and appears to be truly questionable to play. If active, he is a WR2 against a beatable Colts defense.

Rashee Rice (hamstring/knee) is not on the Chiefs’ final injury report and will play in Week 9 against the Jets.

Rice posted a 7/53/1 receiving line against the Broncos last week. He got in a limited session on Wednesday before upgrading to full on Thursday. He seems to be recovering effectively from his summer knee procedure and in-season hamstring injury. Rice is a borderline WR1/2 for this weekend’s game against the Jets.

Travis Kelce (ankle) is not on the Chiefs’ final injury report and will play in Week 9 against the Jets.

Kelce caught 5-of-7 targets for 67 yards, playing through the ankle injury last week against the Broncos, looking slightly hobbled. Kelce was limited to begin the week, but got in two full practices over the last two days. He remains firmly in the TE1 tier for Week 9 against the Jets.

Christian Darrisaw (shoulder) practiced in full on Friday.

Darrisaw is now firmly on track to play in Week 9’s Monday Night Football game against the Bills, who field a tough, talented defensive line. Having Darrisaw on the field will be helpful for pocket passer Carson Wentz.
