Sam Darnold completed 27-of-51 passes for 278 yards and two interceptions in the Seahawks’ 17-14, Week 6 loss to the Broncos, adding 19 yards on two carries.

The Seahawks struggled to move the football throughout against the tenacious situational play calling from Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, scoring only three points until just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. A late-game surge saw them punch on in and a successful two-point conversion drew the team within three points. They would stop the Broncos on the subsequent possession but an interception in Denver territory put the game in jeopardy. The defense would do their job and force a three-and-out that took only 15 seconds off the clock, giving the ball back to Darnold to lead a two-minute drill to send the game to overtime through a chip shot field goal. Darnold would throw his second interception in overtime, watching from the sideline as the Broncos walked it off with a 53-yard Will Lutz field goal. The loss sends the Seahawks to 3-3, matching the total number of losses from a season ago through only six weeks of the 2026 season. The Seahawks have work to do to make up ground in the NFC West, now 2.5 games behind the undefeated 49ers through the first third of the regular season. Darnold and the Seahawks now have a long week to prepare for the now-undefeated Chiefs at home in Week 7, where Darnold will be a fringe QB2 in fantasy circles.

The Seahawks’ head coach stood by his quarterback today, saying Darnold is “definitely part of the solution” to the offense’s recent struggles. Darnold returned somewhat quickly from a glute tendon strain a couple of weeks ago. One wonders if he is still rounding back into form following the early-season ailment. Backup Drew Lock played well in his stead, but the Seahawks believe their Super Bowl-winning quarterback should keep his job. That makes sense to us. He’s a QB2 next week against the Chiefs.

It was a rough outing for Darnold, who was picked off on his first pass attempt of the day and absorbed a season-high five sacks. His lone touchdown pass came on a 16-yard pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Darnold completed a short two-yard pass to JSN, who turned it upfield for the score to give the Seahawks the 23-21 lead with just over five minutes left in the third quarter. On the Seahawks’ final drive of the game, Darnold found JSN for a 35-yard completion, but three straight incompletions, including an uncharacteristic drop by JSN, put the Seahawks in a fourth-and-10 situation that they were unable to convert after Cooper Kupp came up a yard short on his second reception of the night. Darnold has now thrown seven touchdowns and six interceptions in his last three games since returning from injury, and now faces a short week to get ready for the Broncos on Thursday night. He profiles as a mid-to-low-end QB2 in what could be a tough road matchup.

Darnold’s first pass of the game was intercepted on a throw to the flat that should have gone basically anywhere else. He connected on a screen pass with Emanuel Wilson for his first score, and found Tory Horton on a short slant for his second. The 29-year-old wasn’t close to his best, but could enough against the less-than-spectacular Chargers’ defense. He’ll have a marquee matchup in Week 5 against the 49ers.

It was his first action since leaving in the first series of Week 1 against the Patriots with his hip/glute injury. Darnold’s first interception was a doink off a defensive lineman that landed in the hands of Sonny Styles. The second was an egregious offering that resulted in a pick six. Outside of that, the 29-year-old played relatively well, with two touchdown throws to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and another pair to Cooper Kupp and Eric Saubert. He’ll look to limit the turnovers and find JSN more often in Week 4 against the Chargers at home.

Darnold upgraded to full participation yesterday, so today’s news tracks. In an interview on the Rich Eisen Show earlier today, Seahawks WR Smith-Njigba basically let slip that Darnold would be back, but Eisen let him out of the situation with only a soft follow-up. Darnold can be started as a borderline QB1/2 against a fantasy-friendly Commanders defense in Week 3.
  • SEA Quarterback #14
Darnold said today that he is “striving” to play in Week 3 against the Commanders. It sounds like his striding is going well, too. The Seahawks’ starting quarterback is now seemingly on track to play on Sunday. Darnold’s strained glute tendon has healed faster than expected. If active, he can be treated as a high-end QB2.
  • SEA Quarterback #14
Darnold was officially listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday, returning to practice for the first time since his opening day injury. He split first-team reps with Drew Lock and did some throwing off to the side. The Seahawks will make a decision Friday on Darnold’s game status for Week 3 but the 29-year-old has an outside chance of returning against the Commanders.
  • SEA Quarterback #14
This means Darnold will likely be listed as a limited participant today. The plan is to ramp him up as the week goes on, and Macdonald said the team would like to have a decision by Friday on whether Darnold will face the Commanders this week. The Seahawks’ quarterback has been sidelined since straining a glute tendon in Week 1. He will probably need to be treated as a QB2 with QB1 upside in his first game back, but his practice participation will clarify his readiness.

To be clear, Rapoport’s tone was controlled and cautionary here. Darnold can only be considered questionable, at best. The Seahawks’ quarterback “is healing faster than anyone had imagined,” but Rapoport adds that the team wants to be “cautious” with him. Backup QB Drew Lock should probably be viewed as the presumptive Week 3 starter at this time, but it sounds like Darnold can reasonably be expected to play in Week 4 at the latest.
  • SEA Quarterback #14
FOX Sports’ Megan Olivi reported on Sunday that the Seahawks “are aiming” to have Darnold play in Week 3 against the Commanders. It goes without saying that Darnold will need to get a few days of practice in if he hopes to suit up, making this a big week for the Seahawks’ QB1 as he looks to get back on the field. Darnold’s injury wasn’t as severe as the team initially feared when he exited in Week 1 against the Patriots, but with a game against the 0-2 Commanders on the horizon, it’s possible the team doesn’t look to rush him back to the field if he’s not close to 100 percent. His practice status will be worth monitoring throughout the week, but if he’s held out, Drew Lock will make at least one more start in what should be a plus matchup for fantasy managers.

Ravens OG Vega Ioane (knee) will not return in Week 7 against the Bengals.

Ioane exited late in the first quarter of Sunday’s game and was ruled out shortly after halftime. The rookie first-rounder appeared on 16 snaps and has started every game for the Ravens this season, splitting time between right guard and center. He was replaced by Emery Jones.

Budda Baker (groin/illness) is active for Week 7 against the Broncos.

Baker was reportedly good to go as of this morning, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Even in his 10th NFL season, Baker is still wreaking havoc on opposing offenses. He has four pass breakups, one pick, and 3.5 sacks this year. Inactive for the Cardinals are RB Jeremiyah Love, QB Carson Beck, DT Walter Nolen III, S Andrew Wingard, OL Jon Gaines, CB Max Melton, and OL Albert Reese.

Christian McCaffrey (thigh) returned to the game in Week 7 against the Falcons.

McCaffrey was injured on the first drive of the game when the 49ers scored a touchdown. The training staff was working on his thigh before he jogged into the locker room in the second quarter and was listed as questionable to return. It was a 14-3 49ers lead when McCaffrey went into the locker room, and it’s 19-14 in favor of the Falcons now, so the team is gonna see if their star running back can get them back in front.

Broncos declared CB Pat Surtain, QB Sam Ehlinger, S Talanoa Hufanga, OL Kage Casey, TE Dallen Bentley, DL Jordan Jackson, and DL Tyler Onyedim inactive for Week 7 against the Cardinals.

Surtain is expected to return for a crucial matchup with the Chiefs next week. The Broncos will be without one of the league’s superstar corners in the meantime. Surtain’s absence should make life a little easier for Michael Wilson, who is in the midst of a two-game slump.

Jonah Coleman (ankle) is active for Week 7 against the Cardinals.

Outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper is also active. Coleman hasn’t played since Week 2, when he turned 10 carries into 39 yards and a score. The Broncos were banged up at running back that week. They have since established a stable two-man rotation with JK Dobbins operating between the tackles and RJ Harvey handling passing downs. Coleman will likely take a backseat to those two this week.

Tyrone Tracy (hamstring) is questionable to return to New York’s Week 7 game against the Texans.

Tracy had six carries for 15 yards and a touchdown before leaving, adding a two-yard catch on his only target. He was spotted in pads on the sideline, stretching his legs, so it looks like there’s a non-zero chance he returns.

Christian McCaffrey is questionable to return to Week 7 against the Falcons with a thigh injury.

McCaffrey was used heavily on the first drive with the 49ers down so many offensive players, and he came out of that drive with a touchdown but also a thigh injury. The trainers worked on him on the sideline for two drives before finally bringing him into the medical tent. The 49ers do have a bye next week, so they could try to get him back into the game, but they are also up 14-3 at this point, so the Falcons will likely need to get the game closer. Kaelon Black will continue to see a workhorse role while CMC is sidelined.

CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson reports Lamar Jackson (ankle) will play in Week 8 against the Bills.

Reporting from the sideline of Sunday’s Ravens vs. Bengals game, Wolfson reports that Ravens head coach Jesse Minter told her Jackson would play in Week 8. According to Wolfson, the late decision to sit Jackson this week came after the team had a chance to review footage of Jackson in practice. Minter said Jackson still didn’t look like himself in practice, which is why the team opted to give him one more week away. This is the first time Minter has committed to Jackson returning, so hopefully this is a good sign for his Week 8 availability. We will, of course, be monitoring his practice throughout the week until he is fully removed from the injury report.

Juwan Johnson caught 1-of-3 targets for seven yards in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Johnson was solid over the first four weeks of the season, but this was another clunker for the 30-year-old tight end. After going over 50 yards in his first four games and bringing in three touchdowns, Johnson has just 23 total yards without a score in the next three. Because of positional value Johnson can’t be completely ignored, but the Saints haven’t paid much attention to him lately, so it’s time to look for alternatives, at least.

Barion Brown caught all three of his targets for 57 yards in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Brown did virtually all of his damage on a 49-yard connection that helped set up the only touchdown of the day for the Saints. The 22-year-old also had 97 yards in return yardage, and the athleticism of Brown was apparent even on a limited amount of touches. The sixth-round selection is worth keeping an eye on in in dynasty leagues, but isn’t someone fantasy managers can trust in redraft formats as of yet.
