TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) good to go after 3 FPs

TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) is not on the final injury report for Week 7 against the Bears.

Henderson will be active for the Patriots’ Thursday Night Football game, but his usage is up in the air. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel got RB Corey Kiner going late last week after Henderson fumbled. The Patriots won’t simply discard their former second-round pick, so he remains FLEX-viable, but he may be playing with a very limited touch count.

Henderson continues to play second, or third, fiddle behind Rhamondre Stevenson when the Patriots are forced into “gotta have it” mode, with Stevenson the back most trusted in key situations. The Patriots fell into an early hole and were playing catch-up throughout against the Bears, something that could help to explain the lowly opportunity total for the back widely considered the more explosive of the two. Furthermore, the team continued to rotate Corey Kiner through the opportunity pecking order, placing another sizable dent in the weekly floor of Henderson. Although he could find more opportunities in a softer matchup in Week 8, he’ll be a difficult click to insert into fantasy lineups against the Dolphins.

It’s been a stunningly quick recovery from what looked to be a high-ankle sprain that could sideline him. Henderson has practiced in full both days this week. We’re not concerned that he won’t play, but after fumble problems struck last week and Corey Kiner closed out the Jets in the fourth quarter, we do have slightly lowered expectations for his Thursday night stat line.
  • NE Running Back #32
Surprisingly active, Henderson was unsurprisingly disappointing. Although his lost third quarter fumble was his first of the season, it predictably landed him in the doghouse. He touched the ball just two times thereafter, and the Patriots decided to ride No. 3 running back Corey Kiner is closeout mode. Kiner took 11 carries in the final 16:30 of game time. We know Henderson has big-play ability, but now playing at less than 100 percent in a backfield that is beginning to look like a three-man ordeal, he’s not a particularly appealing RB3/FLEX heading into Thursday’s short-week date with the Bears.

As are A.J. Brown (ankle) and LT Will Campbell (knee). It’s a rare day where all the injury news went right for a team. We can’t imagine Henderson will be in large for a particularly big backup role behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but the fact that a player the Pats didn’t even really “need” for Week 6 is giving it a go suggests he is close to regular health. Henderson is a boom/bust FLEX option. Inactive for the Patriots are CB Carlton Davis, CB Karon Prunty, QB Behren Morton, CB Channing Canada, OT Dametrious Crownover and TE Tanner Arkin.

The same is true of left tackle Will Campbell, who also went down with an ankle injury in Week 5. It’s a remarkable turnaround for Henderson, who was initially expected to miss multiple weeks with a high-ankle sprain. He was limited in practice throughout the week before being listed as questionable on Friday. We expect Henderson to be on a pitch count this week, but he’s still capable of breaking a long run on just a few touches. Henderson is a high-risk FLEX play for Week 6.
  • NE Running Back #32
The Patriots’ No. 2 running back was limited all week after being diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. He told reporters today that he was surprised he could practice this week, and is feeling “pretty good.” If active, he will be a FLEX starter, but Rhamondre Stevenson should lead the backfield in touches.
  • NE Running Back #32
Unlike yesterday, Henderson was spotted at the open portion of practice and appears to be making a real run to play in Week 6. If not for the report that he’d miss multiple weeks with a high-ankle sprain, this would be a pretty clear trend towards Henderson playing. As is, we’ll see what happens on Friday. It sure seems like he’ll hit the questionable line one way or another, but how it looks will be important as far as figuring out his Week 6 status.
  • NE Running Back #32
Henderson wasn’t spotted during the portion of practice open to the media but apparently got on the field at some point later in the session. It’s a truly stunning development for Henderson, given that it was reported this morning that he is expected to miss multiple weeks. We still expect him to sit for Week 6, but even that isn’t guaranteed at this point. Henderson would likely be on a relatively strict pitch count if he plays, but his presence would, at a minimum, be a thorn in the side of Rhamondre Stevenson’s fantasy backers. This is officially an injury report to keep a close eye on throughout the week.
  • NE Running Back #32
Henderson suffered his latest ankle injury in Week 5 against the Raiders. Schefter said Henderson is “regarded as a quick healer, so the Patriots are hoping his return is sooner rather than later.” Still, he could be sidelined for the next few weeks, leaving Rhamondre Stevenson as the team’s clear lead back. Corey Kiner, meanwhile, appears to be in line as the Patriots’ RB2 after seeing seven touches last week against the Raiders. Kiner should be stashed in most 12-team fantasy leagues for now. Stevenson profiles as a top-12 play until Henderson returns.

Henderson had 38 yards on five touches before suffering the ankle injury on a sideline tackle in the second quarter. He needed help getting to the locker room and did not return to action. Henderson, who has dealt with a string of injuries over the past few months, could miss significant time, leaving Rhamondre Stevenson as the Patriots’ unquestioned workhorse back for now.

Christian McCaffrey is questionable to return to Week 7 against the Falcons with a thigh injury.

McCaffrey was used heavily on the first drive with the 49ers down so many offensive players, and he came out of that drive with a touchdown but also a thigh injury. The trainers worked on him on the sideline for two drives before finally bringing him into the medical tent. The 49ers do have a bye next week, so they could try to get him back into the game, but they are also up 14-3 at this point, so the Falcons will likely need to get the game closer. Kaelon Black will continue to see a workhorse role while CMC is sidelined.

CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson reports Lamar Jackson (ankle) will play in Week 8 against the Bills.

Reporting from the sideline of Sunday’s Ravens vs. Bengals game, Wolfson reports that Ravens head coach Jesse Minter told her Jackson would play in Week 8. According to Wolfson, the late decision to sit Jackson this week came after the team had a chance to review footage of Jackson in practice. Minter said Jackson still didn’t look like himself in practice, which is why the team opted to give him one more week away. This is the first time Minter has committed to Jackson returning, so hopefully this is a good sign for his Week 8 availability. We will, of course, be monitoring his practice throughout the week until he is fully removed from the injury report.

Juwan Johnson caught 1-of-3 targets for seven yards in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Johnson was solid over the first four weeks of the season, but this was another clunker for the 30-year-old tight end. After going over 50 yards in his first four games and bringing in three touchdowns, Johnson has just 23 total yards without a score in the next three. Because of positional value Johnson can’t be completely ignored, but the Saints haven’t paid much attention to him lately, so it’s time to look for alternatives, at least.

Barion Brown caught all three of his targets for 57 yards in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Brown did virtually all of his damage on a 49-yard connection that helped set up the only touchdown of the day for the Saints. The 22-year-old also had 97 yards in return yardage, and the athleticism of Brown was apparent even on a limited amount of touches. The sixth-round selection is worth keeping an eye on in in dynasty leagues, but isn’t someone fantasy managers can trust in redraft formats as of yet.

Devaughn Vele caught 5-of-5 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Vele brought in a one-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal late in the second quarter to tie the game at 10-10. It would be the last points the Saints would score. Vale has hovered around these numbers through the first half of 2026, and while it provides Shough with a nice safety valve, it’s not exactly what fantasy managers should be chasing. He’ll be a WR4 in Week 9 against the Browns after the Saints “enjoy” their bye in Week 8.

Chris Olave caught 6-of-10 targets for 57 yards in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Olave was once again a shorter-yardage target with a long gain of just 14 yards in the contest. Tyler Shough missed the 26-year-old on what would have been a walk-in touchdown from deep on a disappointing day for the top target in the Saints’ passing attack, at least based on expectations. He’ll remain one of the top fantasy receiving options in his next game, but that won’t come for two weeks as the Saints get a bye before facing the Browns in Week 9.

Pat Freiermuth caught 2-of-4 targets for 20 yards in the Steelers’ Week 7 win over the Saints.

Freiermuth didn’t appear to be bothered by his calf injury, and he quadrupled the targets of Darnell Washington (4-to-1) in this game. Washington was able to convert his only target for a touchdown, however, and Freirmuth dropped what would have been a 20-yard gain in the third quarter. Freiermuth will likely get a similar amount of targets in Week 8 against the Browns, for better or worse.

Darnell Washington caught his only target for a four-yard touchdown in the Steelers’ Week 7 win over the Saints.

Washington used his massive — massive seems like a huge understatement — size to haul in a touchdown near the sideline. That’s his third touchdown in four games, and it’s pretty clear that he’s become a focal point once the Steelers get inside of the red zone. He just isn’t much of one outside of those opportunities, and that makes him the most touchdown dependent tight end to ever exist. Maybe a little bit of hyperbole there. Washington will try and score again in Week 8 against the Browns.

Germie Bernard caught 3-of-5 targets for 27 yards in the Steelers’ Week 7 win over the Saints.

Aaron Rodgers was focused on hitting his halfbacks out of the backfield much more than his wideouts, and Bernard was unable to get much done outside of a 20-yard reception. The rookie wideout had gone over 80 yards in his last two games, but this shows the volatility in Bernard’s fantasy profile as a rookie. He’ll look to bounce back against the Browns in Week 8.

Alvin Kamara rushed six times for five yards in the Saints’ Week 8 loss to the Steelers, adding seven receptions for 57 yards.

Tyler Shough ended up leading the Saints with seven rushing yards. Yikes. Kamara was effective as a receiver out of the backfield, but to say that New Orleans struggled to run the ball is quite the understatement; finishing with 18 yards on 17 attempts. The good news for fantasy managers that used Kamara is that he was effective out of the backfield as a receiver, but it’s a modest day for the 31-year-old. Kamara and the Saints will try and get something going after a bye against the Browns in Week 9.
